Chapter 30

Chapter 30: Ch. 30 Meet With Meisya

Finally, after hours of shopping to purchase everything for Anxia, ??they arrived at Stanley Calvin’s house at exactly five in the evening.

Anxia thought the Calvin family’s house would be as luxurious as her target’s residence while on a mission. Moreover, Richard could afford to spend hundreds of euros without blinking on her, so she expected the man’s parents’ house to be very grand and extensive.

But the house in front of her at this time was quite average. The type of house that the middle class could own. Not too big, but not too small either.

“Welcome to my house. I hope you will be kind in front of my parents.”

“Why should I heed you?”

“Try to fight them. My father will make sure you won’t meet his granddaughter.”

“...”

.....

Richard smiled contentedly while Anxia’s heart was boiling. She felt that this man had taken hold of her only weakness and deliberately brought her daughter’s name to threaten her.

“So they already know that Lori is your child?”

“Yeah.”

“That means Lori already knows that you’re her father?”

“He called me daddy. What do you think?”

“...”

So did Richard actually tell Lori that Richard was her father or not? Her daughter had a weird habit of calling a handsome man ‘daddy’ and pairing him up to be her husband. But before the men could have an unbreakable bond with her baby, Anxia had threatened them first, making them run in fear.

“Just so you know. You’re not the first person she called ‘daddy.’ Don’t be happy.”

“Who?”

“What?”

“Who is that bastard my baby girl calling daddy?”

Baby girl?

And why did Richard’s eyes turn cold and dangerous?

“Mommy! Daddy!”

Luckily, Lori got out sooner and dashed, approaching them. Lori was so excited to see her father and mother standing side by side for the first time that she lost her balance and was about to fall.

Before Lori had a chance to fall, Richard was ready to support his daughter’s body. He immediately lifted her tiny frame into the air creating an amused laugh from her melodious voice.

“Baby girl, don’t run like that, or you’ll fall.”

Lori giggled and then wrapped her little arms around her dad’s neck.

“I miss you. I thought you wouldn’t come today.”

“Why wouldn’t I? I always come to see my little angel.” Richard replied as he gave his little daughter a feather-like kiss, making Lori unable to stop laughing.

On the other side, Anxia could only stand staring at the interaction of the father-daughter duo. She had never seen her daughter laugh this cheerfully before. Look, her daughter was busier caring for Richard than she was, as if she was not there next to that little girl.

Plus, Anxia had never seen her husband’s demeanor so warm and affectionate in his every move.

Her husband? Did she just admit to this forcefully unexpected marriage?

Once again, Anxia watched the expressions of the two individuals with a complicated look. She couldn’t help but wonder if it was okay for her to leave Lori under Richard’s wing.

Richard seemed to adore their daughter. If Richard could afford to buy her the best things for a woman like herself, she was sure he could treat Lori much better than she did.

For a moment, Anxia considered whether or not to continue with her plan of killing Richard. Taking Richard from Lori would mean she took away the source of her daughter’s happiness.

What should she do?

“You must be Xia Xia.” a soft and warm voice broke Anxia’s thoughts.

Anxia was taken aback when she saw an elderly lady with a few subtle wrinkles smiling widely and her eyes shining with the same affection that Richard did when he looked at Lori.

Her breath hitched as the woman hugged her warmly. A typical mother’s embrace made Anxia’s heart shatter.

It had been a long time since she had felt a mother’s warm embrace, and it had been a long time since she had felt loved by anyone other than her daughter.

But today, Anxia felt herself showered with care and love through the trivial movements of Richard stroking her head and putting shoes on her feet to the hugs of this older woman.

“Lori misses you so much, don’t you, Lori?” Meisya, Richard’s mother, loosened her arms and asked her granddaughter.

“Yes! I miss you so much.” Lori’s arms opened as if asking her mother to carry her.

Richard swiftly turned Lori over and let his wife carry their little daughter. Lori’s mouth pouted forward and moved closer to Anxia’s face making Anxia smile widely.

Knowing her little daughter’s wish, Anxia also pursed her lips and kissed her daughter’s lips briefly.

Anxia was utterly unaware of the pair of eyes beside her watching her dumbfoundedly. Richard had no idea that an assassin of Anxia’s class would be able to smile so sincerely.

This made him feel confident that Anxia loved Lori dearly and would do anything for their daughter’s happiness. He started to feel guilty because he always used their little daughter to threaten his wife.

From now on, he would not act on behalf of their daughter. He would use other means to make his wife give in and get out of her dangerous job.

“You must be really tired, and I’m sure you’re hungry?” asked Meisya gently.

“I’m starving. Richard took me around without giving me any meals.”

Slash!

As if he could hear a machete slicing through a large watermelon, Richard shuddered at the scornful glances from his mother.

“The next time you starve my daughter-in-law, don’t expect me to open the door for you.” Meisya’s threat made Anxia gape. “Come on, dear. Let’s go inside. I have cooked you a special dish to welcome you.” ignoring her rebellious son, Meisya put her arm around Anxia’s waist and led her into the house.

Rebellious? Yes, Richard has been seen as a disobedient son by his mother. The defiant child dared to ignore all their advice and impregnate someone else’s child out of wedlock.

Luckily, Richard had made their marriage official before coming to this house. Otherwise, Meisya would not only close the door to her home, but she herself would mincing her eldest son.

Richard rubbed his chest, looking at the back of his mother and wife, who walked into the house.

“Why is she still frightening when she’s this old?”
