65 Ch. 65 Anxia Is The Big Catch

Richard fished something out of his pocket casually and put it to his ear. The next second, Richard spoke in a foreign language that Anxia didn’t understand.

Richard knew very well what languages ??Anxia didn’t speak, and he purposely used that to converse with one of the programs handling the security of this palace.

After he finished talking, Richard stared at his wife with a different look. He was no longer angry and almost smiled when he noticed Anxia’s confused face.

“Qiao Anxia, ??I never thought you would use your daughter to make me kick you out.”

Anxia bit the inside of her cheek, groaning in frustration inwardly. She didn’t expect Richard to realize her plan so soon.

“From now on, I won’t let you see Lori until you change how you behave in front of her.”

“You can’t keep me away from her. She needs me!” Anxia hissed in anger that the man was about to create a chasm between her and her daughter.

Richard smiled inwardly at the reaction he had expected.

Both of them know that Lori is their weakness. Since Anxia had the heart to use Lori against her, Richard did the same.

“He needs a mother, not a killer.”

Anxia’s heart sank at the sarcasm of her husband. She realized that she was an assassin and that her hands were dirty with the blood of her victims.

But did he have to put it like that?

Even though Richard had known her vocation, the man had never mentioned her work or belittled her.

“Think carefully before you act if you still want to see Lori.”

Anxia didn’t make a sound or respond to Richard’s words. After all, she could meet her daughter secretly as long as they were here. Even though this castle was huge and Anxia hadn’t memorized every corridor of this maze-like passageway, she was sure that sooner or later, she would find Lori’s room.

Or so she thought. But after exploring the palace to its ends, Anxia couldn’t find her daughter’s room.

Even more annoying, when she tried to ask one of the maids, the maid immediately left her as if she was a monster about to pounce on her.

Anxia looked at her watch, it was already more than twenty hours from the time Master Yu had set her to meet.

Judging master Yu’s character, he would kill Ling Meng, and her friend’s chances of surviving were very slim.

Even if she managed to get out of this place, she wasn’t sure she would be able to come in time and save her.

However, Anxia still didn’t want to give up and decided to get out of this island on her own terms.

Anxia walked along the long street until she entered a treed area. She kept walking until she got out of the tree and saw a beach in front of her eyes.

Her eyes narrowed to see far beyond the ocean there. Would she have arrived at the other side of the island if she had swum? The real question is, is there an island over there?

Plus, she didn’t know the distance between this island and the other side. And she didn’t know if she could swim for hours before exhausting herself and dying drowned in the sea.

There would be no guarantee that she would return in one piece, and he was not sure if she would be able to see her daughter again after this.

There were a lot of things filled in Anxia’s brain, and the dilemma of whether she should leave and abandon her daughter or...

But if she stays... she could never overcome her guilt for not trying to save her friend... Her best friend.

Anxia was annoyed to hear the confident tone in the man’s voice, as he was right about her. For now, Anxia wasn’t going to swim away without proper preparation.

Even though she was flustered and worried about her friend’s condition, she still refrained herself not to make a rash decision. She held on to the hope that Master Yu still hadn’t killed Ling Meng, even though that merciless man would torture her.

But she still felt uneasy because apart from Ling Meng, master Yu still held another ace. Her mother.

Anxia didn’t know if the photo she received was the real picture or if it was an edited photo created by master Yu to lure her out.

Anxia’s brain kept spinning, thinking of a way to get out of this place, as she determined to save her friend first. She didn’t pay any heed or even believe that Richard was there watching her.

“If the only thing out of this place were swimming, I would still do it.”

“It’s futile, isn’t it? Why are you hell-bent on saving her? Knowing your master, I’m sure she would be dead by now.”

Anxia gritted her teeth, holding back her emotions, then took a deep breath to calm herself down. She would be at a disadvantage if she fronted this cunning man with anger.

“Meng Meng is still alive. Master Yu will not waste precious bait to get a big catch.”

“You’re the big catch?” implored Richard in a mocking tone. “Qiao Anxia, ??master Yu has many hitmen like you. Why are you sure you are different from others?”

“...” Anxia didn’t answer and looked straight at the ocean while trying hard to find a way to return to the country other than sailing this sea.

“Could it be that you have something he wants?”

“...”

There was no answer from Anxia because what Richard suspected was true.

Master Yu entrusted Anxia with a secret chip while on a mission in north Africa. But when Anxia had to return to Hong Kong and hand over the chip to her master, Anxia decided to disappear with Ling Meng and hide the chip somewhere that no one would ever find. She didn’t have to worry about her daughter’s life because she was sure Lori would grow up much better with Richard than by her side. The little girl would be much happier with her father than with her.

Maybe Lori would be sad that she wouldn’t be able to see her again, but considering that Lori was still very young, the child would surely forget her sadness as time passed.

Ignoring Richard, who was still faithfully accompanying her while watching her flat expression, Anxia turned and walked back towards the castle.

Richard didn’t know what his wife was thinking, but he could see the gleam in her eyes filled with determination.

Richard turned and looked at the ocean to understand his wife’s thoughts.

Anxia never once looked at him when answering his questions, and her gaze never took her eyes off the vast blue ocean. What did the girl see to have such strong determination?

It’s impossible. Qiao Anxia couldn’t have rashly wanted to swim through this ocean without knowing her destination, right? The girl didn’t even know if there was another island or country at the other end, so there was no way that his wife would dare to sail this ocean just by swimming.

Richard stood there for a few more minutes before finally turning to follow his wife.
