71 Ch. 71 A Warm Hug

Holding back the emotions already at their peak and ready to explode at any moment, Anxia gently massaged her husband’s head again.

Honestly, she couldn’t understand how this man could turn into such a child in one night.

Had received a mild concussion causing one’s demeanor to change so drastically?

“So, how did you save her?” Anxia was curious about how Richard would break through the defenses of master Yu’s men and bring Ling Meng out safely. “Hey, Richard.”

“...” But it seemed that the man had fallen asleep, making her speechless.

“Hey, wake up. You can’t just go to sleep without explaining it to me.” Anxia moved aside to pull her husband’s hand to wake him up.

This jerk husband of hers had the heart to stress her out for the past two days because she thought she had lost her friend in this world. It is his duty to explain everything to cover up the stress she is experiencing.

But this guy is actually sleeping? Was this man not afraid that Anxia would try to kill him again?

“Hey, wake up.” Anxia kept pulling on the man’s hand, but she felt like pulling on a chain attached to a solid wall.

Suddenly, it was Richard’s turn to pull Anxia’s hand, and once again, she fell beside him. This time, Richard didn’t stop moving and hugged Anxia’s body like holding her in his arms, making Anxia even more panicky.

“Bastard. I know you haven’t slept.” Anxia thrashed as she tried to free herself from the man’s grip, but Richard’s strength was greater than hers, and her attempt to free herself failed miserably.

“Sst. I am exhausted.”

“You promised you would answer all my questions!”

“After finishing helping me in the process of mental recovery.” reminded Richard. “Right now, I’m mentally unstable, and I’m not sure if I remember the answers....”

“Okay, okay, I get it. You don’t need to hug me like this.” Anxia struggled again to be released, but Richard’s embrace was still firmly in place.

“This is one of them.”

“What?”

“Hugging you helps me calm down.”

Anxia gulped nervously as her heartbeat started to pound crazily.

Why did he have to say such a word? Why did he have to say it softly and lovingly, as if Richard loved her?

This man couldn’t possibly have feelings for her, could he?

Anxia glanced at Richard, who still had his eyes closed, and then decided to close her own eyes.

She also felt exhausted and no longer had the strength to argue with puns she could never win.

Plus, this man’s hug felt warm against her cold body. Anxia had never felt the warmth of a hug from someone, and if she ever felt it, she had forgotten it. And her heart said Anxia didn’t want to get out of this warmth.

Extreme sleepiness began to flood her brain, and now both eyelids felt heavy to hold on to. During these two days, Anxia had not been able to sleep and was busy doing everything she could to make Richard hate her and return her to the country.

Her mind was overworked, and her heart couldn’t stop worrying about Ling Meng’s safety. The inner pressure and stress of not being able to help her friend were enough to drain her energy and mentality.

But just speaking to Richard, the weight and pressure piled on her shoulders were lifted as well. Even though she had not heard whether Ling Meng had escaped master Yu’s torment, she still believed Richard’s words.

Richard had told her that he had saved Ling Meng, which meant that Ling Meng was alive.

If she had mentioned Ling Meng’s condition to Richard, would he have directly told her?

Anxia couldn’t help but remember her conversation with Lori a while ago.

‘Why don’t you ask daddy for help?’

‘He won’t be able to help me.’

‘How are you sure, mommy? Didn’t you know how great and cool it was when dad realized you made a secret code with me? He also looks handsome when he finds two black thingy in his boat! If you haven’t talked to him, how can you know he can’t help you?’

‘Okay. Let’s just say he can help me, but that doesn’t mean he wants to help me.’

‘Why?’ Lori tilted her head while putting on an adorable confused expression.

‘To be honest, your father doesn’t really like me. He won’t want to help me.’

‘That is not true. Dad will do anything to make you smile. If you don’t believe me, try talking to him.’

‘How can you be sure that your father wants to make me smile? He even hates me.’

‘Aiya, mommy. I know you are not an expert on this, but how come you don’t know the basic knowledge about a man’s impulses?’

Anxia gasped in surprise at her daughter’s last word. Isn’t Lori still three years old? How could this child understand a man’s impulse?

‘If daddy hates you, he won’t kiss or hug you. Even a kid like me knows that he loves you very much. How come you don’t realize that?’

At first, Anxia didn’t take her daughter’s words seriously and believed that the praise from Lori’s mouth was too biased. She knew Lori adored Richard and was proud to have a father like Richard.

How could she not? Richard always treated Lori with great warmth and generous tenderness as a father.

Lori had always wanted a father figure since she understood the meaning of wholeness in having two parents, so it’s no wonder, in her daughter’s eyes, Richard was the perfect father for her.

‘I’d like you to rely on me,’

Anxia remembered why Richard didn’t immediately tell her about the threatening message from master Yu. He wanted her to bring up Ling Meng’s situation and indirectly made her want to ask for help from that man.

Would the result have been any different if Anxia had tried it if she had talked with Richard about Ling Meng?

Anxia raised her head to look at the handsome face of the man who seemed to have fallen asleep.

The man looked like a child when he slept. Anxia didn’t need to feel alert or anticipate this man’s cunning plans while Richard was asleep.

Anxia yawned widely because she couldn’t stand the drowsiness that attacked her anymore. Then she snuggled deeper to find a comfortable position while pressing her cheek against the man’s broad chest. She sighed contentedly as she felt warmth radiate to her cheeks and fell asleep.

Anxia was utterly oblivious to the faint smile that had appeared on Richard’s face.
