Chapter 86

86 Ch. 86 Anxia’s Background

Richard was concentrating on his monitor screen. Ever since he got hold of Anxia’s mother’s photo, he had sent his team to investigate the woman.

According to his team’s investigation results, Loreine Shu had been gone for a long time, but no one could find her dead body. On the other hand, the photo that Master Yu used to lure Anxia out was Photoshopped.

That’s why Richard sent his team to investigate precisely where and when Anxia’s mother died. He also wanted to find his mother-in-law’s body so he could give her a proper burial.

But strangely, this morning, Richard received a report from his men who had seen a woman with Loreine Shu’s face in the country. To be precise, one of the CCTV cameras in her father’s house captured the woman’s figure!

That means Loreine Shu knew Anxia had married him and lived at Stanley’s house.

Surprisingly, the street camera that was supposed to capture the image of the woman’s figure was erased without leaving a trace.

Richard raised both hands and then opened his palms to join his left finger with his right finger. He stared at his computer screen, which showed a woman who had a face very similar to Anxia with a serious look.

Anxia’s mother wasn’t dead.

Not only that, the woman could erase her traces from state cameras.

.....

‘Xia Xia, your mother is not an ordinary person. Really... who are your parents?’

In the end, Richard had to take matters into his own hands to investigate his wife’s background. He traced Anxia’s family tree, which turned out to be hidden and marked as classified by the Hong Kong government, making him feel challenged.

Why did the Hong Kong government keep Anxia’s parents’ data a secret?

Richard managed to hack the Hong Kong government’s database system. He took the files regarding Zhao Yu Hue and Loreine Shu effortlessly.

Unfortunately, he found nothing meaningful there, as if someone had preceded him and deleted all the files regarding them.

Then Richard activated the Hawk-Eye program through his computer.

Hawk Eye was a program created by his father that had a similar function to Tiffany. It’s just that Hawk-Eye doesn’t have a brain or voice like other digital programs, so Richard has to give orders manually, namely by typing.

Hawk Eye could directly connect to the satellite that Richard aimed and hack into all the existing camera footage throughout the earth.

He started his search from the year Loreine Shu died and went backward.

Not much was found because the camera only caught the woman’s figure in the mental hospital.

Then he found more pictures when Loreine Shu was still living with her husband and child. They were frequently seen at notable events where business people gathered when Anxia was only three.

Later, Anxia was cared for by the Wong family since her father died and her mother entered a mental hospital. Since then, Anxia has lived with Mister Wong’s family in Kowloon.

Very weird. Richard had already investigated Anxia’s past before this, but nothing told him about the Wong family has taken her under their wings. It led to another question. Since when did Master Yu train Anxia, and when did Anxia leave Mister Wong’s family?

Out of curiosity, Richard looked at all the video recordings of little Anxia spending her daily time with the Wong family.

Judging from the footage, he saw that Michelle was treating Anxia very well and that Anxia was sweet to the girl as if both were sisters. He could never imagine what broke their sisterhood.

Not only that, Richard felt a strange feeling fill his heart the longer he saw his wife’s tiny face when she was a child.

For some reason, he felt he had seen that annoying yet adorable face before. At the same time, he had the feeling this little girl’s smiles were fake.

Knowing his wife’s character, he could guess that Anxia had a talent for acting since childhood. His wife seems to have succeeded in deceiving the Wong family with her sweet smile.

Does that mean Anxia worked under Master Yu and was deliberately placed in the Wong family as a spy?

Thinking of this possibility, Richard felt angry and wanted to hunt down master Yu and kill him. That person was simply not human! How dare that psychopath send a child as a spy? How old was Anxia at that time?

Richard took a short break by dropping his back on his chair headrest.

Even though his initial goal was to investigate the background of Anxia’s parents, what he got instead was his wife’s childhood which had absolutely nothing to do with his search.

Worse, Richard was carried away and focused more on his wife’s video recording and forgot for a moment his main task.

He closed his eyes for a few minutes without thinking about anything. A memory buried in his brain for a long time suddenly burst out.

‘Hmph! So uncute girl!!’

Richard’s eyelids fluttered as he recalled something. His heart rumbled even more as he let the memories of a dozen years ago cross his mind.

“Impossible,” he muttered in disbelief.

He remembered meeting two girls at Chleora Regnz’s worldwide First-acquaintance event in New York. He met them by chance at that time because his cousin introduced them.

One was like a rose blooming in summer, while the other was as sweet as sugar yet as annoying as ants.

But Richard knew that the child who was always smiling wasn’t genuinely smiling. He didn’t remember what the girl’s face looked like, but he did remember being irritated by the girl’s fake smile.

Richard straightened up and danced his finger on his keyboard. This time he no longer traced the background of Anxia’s parents or Anxia’s childhood while living under Mister Wong’s protection.

Instead, he hacked into the American satellite and got into the news footage of Chleora Regnz’s First-acquaintance event.

Once he’d gotten his hands on a few news videos, Richard ran one of them.

There was news about how beautiful and talented Chleora Regnz was for successfully launching Daphnia Fashion product designs based in Seattle.

He also saw several photos of Regnz’s extended family and the Alvianc group surrounding Chleo for a group photo event. But that wasn’t what he was looking for.

One by one, Richard opened and patiently ran through the videos, but... nothing.

Finally, Richard decided to give up.

After all, it was impossible for the Wong family to come to New York to attend Vincentius Regnz’s eldest daughter’s first big event.
