Chapter 158 - 158 Ch. 158 Complicated Past

158 Ch. 158 Complicated Past

Even if Anxia had repented and regretted the past―even if Anxia genuinely begged Michele, Michele couldn’t forgive her. She still hadn’t forgotten that Anxia once tried to kill her.

“I don’t know. But, perhaps I’ll seal my lips if you beg me.”

“How do you want me to beg you?”

“How about…” Michelle folded her arms in front of her chest in an arrogant manner. “You kneel before me this very moment.”

Anxia bit her lip to hold back her furious groan. Michele Wong was deliberately looking down on her and threatening her. If she didn’t have feelings for Richard and wanted to run away, and didn’t want to live with her husband, Anxia would never be afraid of Michelle’s threats.

On the other hand, Anxia would be grateful to the girl for turning the whole family against her relationship with Richard so that Anxia would have to leave her husband’s life, and Richard wouldn’t be able to stop her.

But now, Anxia didn’t want to separate from Richard, and she felt like she would be lost her home if she left that man.

Anxia had no other choice but to follow the girl’s wishes. She bent her legs one by one before finally kneeling while lowering her head.

Despite seeing Anxia kneel according to her will, Michelle did not smile or show any satisfaction at seeing the woman she had hated so far finally conquered.

.....

“You’d better watch yourself while we’re here. Otherwise, I’m not sure whether I can keep my mouth shut.”

Without asking Anxia to get back on her feet, Michele turned and walked away from the corridor where Anxia was kneeling. When she turned, and Anxia couldn’t see her, Michelle leaned against the wall clutching her chest.

Michele felt she had turned into a jerk by making Anxia kneel before her. She should feel elated and excited, but why did her heart ache to see the other girl kneeling?

“What have I done? That wasn’t in my plan. I... I’m not the evil one.” Michele didn’t realize that someone had heard her disbelieve muttering.

“If you don’t want to be evil, you shouldn’t humiliate her.”

Michelle gasped at the sound and felt cold sweat on her back when she saw a man casually looking at her without expression.

“I… I…”

“Go back to your room.”

Michele nodded in understanding and walked past her brother-in-law to return to her husband.

“Michele,” Richard called, stopping Michelle, swallowing nervously. “I hope this doesn’t happen again. It’s enough that you belittled my wife and threatened her once, and I will not let the second one go.”

“I understand. I’m sorry.”

Michele walked with vast strides and was twice as fast as usual. Seeing Anxia kneeling in front of her made Michele feel guilty, and knowing Richard had caught her taunting Anxia made her feel even worse, and she wanted to cry.

Why? Why should she feel guilty? Why did she have to be scared and nervous like this?

It was Anxia who hurt her―it was Anxia who destroyed her life, but why… why did everyone ask her to forget the past and forgive that girl?

As soon as she entered her room, Michele could no longer hold back her tears, startling her husband, who was reading a book to wait for his wife.

“Michele? What is it?”

“Rei, what should I do?”

“What? What is it, love? Tell me.” Raymond gently wiped away his wife’s tears while lightly kissing her eyes.

“I… I made Anxia kneel in front of me.”

“What? Why?”

“Because I hate her. I’m... I’m furious... I can’t tolerate it if she can live happily. I… I… I…” Michelle’s tears flowed even harder, and her sobs grew louder, making Raymond worried that his wife’s crying would wake their baby up.

“Sst. Don’t cry. I will listen to you.” Raymond took a coat and scarf and put them on Michele, then carried his wife in a bridal style and went out onto the balcony. Raymond settled Michele in his lap and hugged her tightly while saying soothing words to stop her from crying.

After Michele had calmed down, Raymond persuaded his wife to tell him what had happened. He wondered how his gentle and loving wife could make someone kneel before her.

After all, this was the first time he had heard of Michele hating someone this much. As far as he could remember, Michele only hated a kid who had ruined her family and sold her to a brothel.

A kid? Could it be that kid was Qiao Anxia?

“Was Qiao Anxia the younger sister you had told me about?”

Michelle nodded, knowing that her husband was quick to catch on, and this time, she could no longer escape his interrogation.

“I see. So you told her to kneel for revenge? I thought you’d forgotten about it a long time ago.”

“I… I haven’t thought about it. But I threatened her and made her kneel to beg me. I thought I did it because I wanted to see how sincerely she cherished brother Richard, but then I realized―I did it because I still can’t forgive her.”

“Michele. She was only a child at that time. She wasn’t the real culprit regarding your parents’ death. You can’t really blame her, can you?

No. Even though Anxia was still only a child, the girl could stab her with a knife to take her life. It was only because of this that Raymond found Michele running out of the highway covered in blood.

However, Michelle never told the origin of the knife that pierced her abdomen. All along, Raymond had thought it was one of Master Yu’s men stabbing her, and no one would have thought that the knife had come from Qiao Anxia’s tiny hands.

On the other side of the house, Richard looked at his wife, kneeling with her head down. He was still digesting Michele’s unexpected, unbelievable revelation.

Richard would never have thought the knife that stuck into Michele’s stomach in Hong Kong when she and Raymond were on a student exchange―came from Anxia.

‘Rei, why do we fall in love with a woman with a complicated past?’ Only Richard could hear the sigh of his inner voice.
