Chapter 197 - 197 Ch. 197 Impossible Game

197 Ch. 197 Impossible Game

“What are they doing? It’s not like they are naughty boys like they used to be.” Chleo was astounded by the appearance of the twins??, who deliberately wore the same clothes. As far as Chleo could remember, the twins never wore the same clothes so that no one would mistake their names. Richard even dyed his hair lighter so everyone could immediately tell them apart, although they were wearing the same clothes―that was right after Raymond settled down. “Don’t tell me... Are they challenging someone to play the which one and which game?”

“Do you know that game?” asked Michele because she had never known her husband had played this game before.

“They played it all the time in our younger days, and I doubt anyone could tell them apart once they were in that mode.”

“Including our in-laws?” Anxia couldn’t help but be interested in the game.

“Yup. I wonder why they’re doing it now.”

Anxia and Michele looked at each other, not knowing what explanation they should give to the older lady. On second thought, Anxia wondered what Chleora and her husband were doing here―neither of them was noble nor related to Heinest. Anxia tried asking Michele and got quite a surprising answer.

“Axelard Cavendish is a descendant of an ancient Lord of Derbyshire. Aside from our father-in-law, the Cavendish family also took a big part in aiding the Heinest when they all fled to England. It explained how the Heinest invited the Cavendish.” Michele’s explanation earned a nod from Anxia.

Not long after, Michele brought her to other Heinest families, such as Dieter and Adrianna. In contrast to Leonard’s wife and daughter, Dieter’s and Adrianna’s couple were friendly toward Anxia and the others―they flashed warm smiles but kept their distance from her. As Anxia glanced at Quinn, the girl did the same with the rest of the Heinest family, making her wonder, was it possible that all the Heinest members were acting in a friendly manner to hide their reluctance?

Anxia wished she could ask Richard, but her husband...

.....

Anxia glanced at Richard, who was now together with his twin brother discussing with one of the guests. It should be Richard who brought Anxia to meet with other family members. Instead of Richard, Michele accompanied her and introduced her to other acquaintances. As Michele only knew a few of them, both women decided to return to their in-laws after exchanging pleasantries with Chleo and the others.

The huge mansion was divided into two parts, with white walls and golden pillars separating it. One was where the dance floor―where couples could dance to the accompaniment of an orchestra, while the latter was a relaxing place where all guests could sit, chat, or play chess.

For the umpteenth time, Anxia glanced at the twins, who still refused to gather with their families. She thought the two men would not be able to stay away from their wives for long, but those stubborn men proved her wrong.

“Jie Jie, until when are they going to be like this? They don’t even come close to us.”

“You’re right. At this rate, we won’t get them to ask us to dance.”

“And we won’t be able to carry out our plan.” Andrew had asked Anxia’s help figuring out how to win this almost impossible game. Anxia had a plan, and it was perfect to the point she would create a record to be the first winner in this game.

But her plan would be vain if those men didn’t ask their wives to dance.

“Xiao Xia, what if we approach them first?”

“Good idea.”

They walked through the crowd of guests and approached their husbands―only they needed to figure out which one was the correct husband.

“Anxia, Michele. We were wondering when you would come here.”

Anxia watched the expression of one of the twins, wondering―was it Raymond who was talking to them just now? After all, Richard would always call her ‘Xia Xia’ instead of ‘Anxia.’

“Anxia, I believe this is the first time you’ve come to a ball like this? What is your first impression?”

While Anxia was sure that the first person to speak would be Raymond, the other twin proved her wrong with the same tone and the same way of calling.

Had Richard ever spoken this politely? His tone even resembled Raymond’s―or it was the other way around―Anxia felt her head spinning.

“Rei? I don’t know which one of you is my hubby, but... how could you speak so politely? Are you mimicking Brother Richard?”

“Isn’t it the other way around? I’ve never heard Richard speak in such a polite tone.” Anxia was more confused than ever.

“That is not true. Raymond has never spoken formally like this to me..”

Michele and Anxia looked at each other for a few seconds before they both gasped as they looked at their husbands.

“You guys… are you pretending to be someone else?”

The twins flashed big smiles filled with the same pride and shining eyes.

“Are you that happy? Don’t you mind seeing your sister feeling sad? She hasn’t touched her favorite cake since we came into this hall.” Anxia grumbled without stopping watching the twin brothers’ expressions.

She just needed a hint, no matter how small it was―as long as the two showed different expressions, Anxia could guess the answer she was looking for.

But…

The moment they heard their sister’s name come out of her mouth, they simultaneously cast their eyes to the opposite side to look for their sister’s figure. The brothers didn’t show any expression, and the two had no significant difference, making Anxia want to grab her husband’s hair ... of course, she couldn’t do it as she didn’t know which one her husband was.

Although they both tried to keep their younger sister away from Andrew, at least they didn’t have to play this game in front of their wives seriously!

“Daddy!”

Reflexively, the twins and their wives eyes turned to the girl running towards them. Anxia’s hopes soared when she saw her daughter coming towards them. She remembered that her daughter could always distinguish Richard’s and Raymond’s photos whenever the child looked at old albums at Meisya’s house.

Can Lori tell the difference between the two?
