Chapter 289 - 289 Ch. 289 Jamie Arc (part 3) Escape

289 Ch. 289 Jamie Arc (part 3) Escape

“No!” roared Loraine trying to rebel from two of her father’s men who were now clutching her arms. “You can’t do this to your own daughter, and I don’t want to leave you.” persuaded Loraine trying to sway her father.

“My sweet child. You won’t leave me. This house is always open for you even though you are married.”

“I won’t meet you if I marry that person.”

“Your threats won’t work, Loraine. Take her back to her room.”

“Dad! No, don’t! Dad!!” Loraine tried to escape, kicking and making various attempts, but all in vain. She could not run because she was not strong enough to fight her father’s men. Loraine had never studied martial arts before, so she couldn’t escape from this forced marriage.

Even so, the word ‘give up’ was not in Loraine’s dictionary, so she kept fiddling with her bedroom key to open it from the inside. Unable to open the door, Loraine opened her bedroom window and tried to jump down.

Alas…

“Miss, please close your window again and try to sleep.” One of her father’s men was already standing there, making Loraine groan in frustration.

In the end, Loraine closed the window again violently, causing a loud sound. Loraine was pacing back and forth in her room while her brain constantly spun to find an opening.

.....

If she couldn’t escape tonight, she could escape while on her way. Or she could run away while getting ready in the dressing room. Whatever it was, she wouldn’t be able to flee if her father’s bodyguards were closely watching her. First, she had to pretend to agree to this marriage to lessen her father’s guard.

Loraine must find the right time to escape because the opportunity only comes once. If she failed at the chance she took, it was inevitable that she would not be able to escape from this marriage bond.

It was already late at midnight, but Loraine still couldn’t sleep and sat on her bed, biting her nails. Not long after, Loraine heard a sound like something hitting her window.

Curious, the teenage girl got out of bed and opened her window to look down. How surprised she was when she saw Jamie was there. Loraine immediately communicated with the girl using hand language so that her voice would not provoke her father’s men.

‘What are you doing here?’

‘Come down. My mother is waiting for you at the back door.’

Loraine frowned in confusion but followed her friend’s request and got down by wrapping her bedsheets and clothes into a long rope around her bed pillar. Then with the rope, Loraine tied herself up and jumped through the window.

She gulped nervously as this was the first time she would descend from the third floor without using the stairs. But at the same time, Loraine was excited to do something like this, as if she was exploring an exotic place.

Loraine smiled in satisfaction as both her feet landed on the ground, and there were no wounds on her body.

‘Turns out I’m a genius at sneaking out of rooms!’

Jamie rolled her eyes lazily, deciphering her friend’s hand language movements. Without responding to Loraine’s narcissistic words, Jamie grabbed Loraine’s hand, and the two ran towards the backyard where Jamie’s mother was waiting for them.

“Loraine, I’ve given everyone guarding this place some diarrhea medicine.” Jamie’s mother’s words made Loraine gasp, and her black eyes widened. “You have plenty of time to escape. Take this money and go to Hong Kong. Look for Zhou Yu Huan and tell him you are my foster daughter.”

Zhou Yu Huan?

“He is my distant relative, and he will surely help you.” as if she could hear Loraine’s silent question, Jamie’s mother explained who Zhou Yu Huan was.

“But… what about you guys? My father will be angry when he finds out you guys helped me.”

“Don’t worry about us. We will be fine.”

Jamie nodded her head, reassuring Loraine to leave immediately.

Loraine was very grateful to this mother-daughter pair for being such a warm family. But… she couldn’t help but worry about the fate of this young Jamie, especially with her disability... this pure-hearted girl’s future wouldn’t be easy.

Loraine had hoped that when she grew up, she wanted to open a business with Jamie and get out of her father’s house. She wanted to be independent and, together with Jamie, achieve their dreams without using her father’s name. But who would have thought... fate forced her to leave this house earlier than her plan.

Jamie noticed Loraine’s reluctance not to leave her. She touched Loraine’s arm to attract the girl’s attention. ‘Thank you for being my friend and sister during these eighteen years. I will never forget our memories here and will forever think of you. You have given me many sweet memories and brought laughter to my face. Now, it’s time to protect your laughter and reach for your happiness.’

“But…”

‘Do you remember the antique shop near our school?’ Jamie cut in, making Loraine unable to continue her sentence. ‘If you miss me, you can send a letter there, and I will also send a letter for you.’

The antique shop near their school knew Jamie and Loraine very well, and the shop owner was delighted every time the two teenage girls came into his shop and helped him distribute fliers to passersby.

They were sure that if the shop owner heard of Loraine’s current situation, the owner would be willing to become an intermediary for them to communicate with each other.

In the end, Loraine agreed, and after saying goodbye, Loraine ran towards the terminal as fast as possible. One bus was still operating and would leave at two in the morning—this was tonight’s last bus, and she would go to Hong Kong by train.

Long story short, Deke Shu was furious when he discovered his daughter had disappeared the next day, and he punished all his men who were incompetent in keeping a girl in her room. Luckily, Deke Shu didn’t suspect that Jamie and her mother drugged his men and helped Loraine escape from this place.

No one knew Deke Shu caught Jamie holding hands with Loraine and running towards the backyard. But the man allowed it because he didn’t want his daughter to marry someone from the Luen group. He accepted their proposal at Lawrence’s request and wanted to avoid starting a war by rejecting it.

However, if he used the excuse that his men could not look after his daughter, the Luen group’s side would be unable to do anything about it aside from ridicule him for being an incompetent leader, which he didn’t mind. He minded his daughter’s happiness a lot.

Deke Shu sent his men to look for his daughter, but he didn’t expect his daughter to be found so soon.

“You are indeed my daughter. Don’t let my men or the Luen group find you,” stated Deke Shu while smoking his wooden cigar with his eyes looking up at the sky.
