Chapter 364: Wrath takes over

The shout caused Vivian to jump forward, sliding around the horns of a rotting dear that tried to skewer her. The vampire's blade missing her by a hair's breadth as Eldrian's fireball landed on its groin.

The ball of flame hitting with force before spreading its flames. The half-undead flinching in massive pain. Hurriedly it tried to douse the fire causing an insane amount of pain. Eldrian would not let it be that easy. He hadn't thought the undead would flinch in pain. He was fully going to take advantage of it.

A battle of magic soon ensued as the vampire flooded the area with the basic Tier 0 water spell Nidia. Eldrian moving the flames around so that the water never doused them all. The vampire constantly needing to recast his spell to douse the new areas as the flames climbed over its body.

This took all Eldrian's effort as he was not great with Volida. Luckily, after a few seconds, a flaming sword came and struck at the vampire. Sending it flying to the side as it just barely brought its arm up to block the wound.

"Since when do undead feel pain?" Eldrian asked as he let Volida die and clambered to his feet. Vivian was already on the undead again. However, Eldrian knew she would need help. The vampire was no pushover.

[Existential Vampire (Leon)]

[Tier 5 Unwilling ; Level: 27 ; Age: 846]

[HP: 759/869]

[Attack: 36(81)] (Arming Sword)

[Agility: 442]

[A vampire who is repulsed by its nature. When the Eternal Thirst forces it to sate his hunger it is filled with hate. Despising itself and what it has become. Yet it can't kill itself. Its will that of its lord, forever bound to its lord in eternal undeath.]

[Unlike most undead however, vampires are not split from life. They are half dead and half alive, forever frozen at the age in which they were turned.]

[Due to their unique state they can still enjoy the pleasures of the living, as well as their sorrows. Love and lust, pain and depression.]

[Passive Ability: Eternal Thirst,  A curse and blessing alike. Forcing the vampire to feed on the living, often until their victim dies if it had tried to suppress its hunger. Feeding both heals the vampire and allows them to grow stronger. Stealing 10% of their victim's attributes.]

[State:  Recently Fed, Regenerates 1%(9) of its health every second]

The vampire they were facing was dressed in bloodred noblemen-like clothing. His black hair combed back and seemingly gelled. With his stubble of a beard he could even be considered handsome. The only flaw being his overly pale skin.

Eldrian however did not take in any of this, instead, he rushed to put more pressure on the vampire. While his spells did little to nothing to the vampire, the damage often being regenerated as quick as he could inflict it.

Each spell did cause the vampire to flinch in pain. Having never fought in a war and lived a depressing life for centuries. Pain was a weird feeling to the vampire.

He almost became addicted to it, only doing his best to dodge the flaming sword that would cause massive damage. Yet letting the fire spells hit him each and every time. He might not be able to kill himself, that did not mean he couldn't let himself be hurt.

Together Eldrian and Vivian managed to tie down the vampire. Not realizing that it was actually allowing them to. If it wanted it could easily escape from them. Killing them might be slightly harder, but escaping would be easy.

As the two continued their best efforts the black mist that had been used to hide the undead's approach rolled in and swallowed them.

No one thought anything of it at first, however, when they could no longer see more than a meter ahead everyone quickly realized how bad the situation had become. It was also at this time when they realized that the undead had suddenly grown in strength.

Sent flying back, Vivian barely managed to land on her feet. Her sword struck into the ground to help her balance. Thanks to the mist she could not see a thing and had no idea where Eldrian was.

"I am sorry, but that is the cue for the fight to truly start." A soothing calm voice echoed in the darkness. Chills flowing down Eldrian and Vivian's backs.

"No!" Eldrian shouted and cast Volida on the ground to try and create some light. Yet before the spell could land he felt the chills grow even more. Jumping back he only barely managed to survive. Though, a massive slash appeared across his chest.

Gritting his teeth Eldrian swung with Aoidos where the strike had come from, only for his instincts to scream at him to jump forward. Doing so Eldrain felt a sharp stinging pain on his back as another slash connected.

'Think, I can't do shit if I am blind!' Eldrian thought as he jumped to the side and barely managed to avoid the next attack.

"Oh, seems I can't play with you any longer." The same soothing voice spoke, yet instead of succeeding in striking at Eldrian's heart, it found its sword stopped by a floating shield.

A pair of shining eyes the color of a rainbow looked directly at the vampire. Eldrian smiling as he tried to keep his emotions in control but quickly failing.

"I can see you," Eldrian said in a low chuckle, the floating shield moving to stop the vampire's next attack. "And that means I can kill you." Eldrian's laugh turned maniacal as he thought of the past few days. Of what both he and Vivian had gone through at the hands of the undead.

More than anything he thought of the burning pain on his chest and back. Focusing on it and letting his anger burn.

Suddenly Eldrian launched himself forward, his speed nearly matching that of the vampire's. The following strike sending the vampire reeling as Eldrian's strength overcame its own.

"Wha-" The vampire could not finish its question as it saw the spear coming for it again, hastily it did its best to dodge. Yet Eldrian would not let it be that easy. As the vampire stepped to the side it crashed into the floating shield. The resistance it offered was great, more than enough to allow the spear to follow his dodge and strike into his side.

Gritting its teeth the vampire wanted to capture the spear, only to find an icicle heading straight for its face. Whipping its head to avoid a direct strike another thrust landed, this time in its chest.

Coughing blood the vampire became infuriated, Eldrian instead became obsessed at the sight of blood. Smiling and licking his lips, he looked like a demon to the old vampire.

'I-I have to get out of here.' It thought as the resistance at its side disappeared. Without another thought the vampire turned and tried to flee, only for the spear it was running from to be thrown and peg it to the ground.

"P-please." It mumbled between mouthfuls of blood, the spear having accurately ripped through its heart.

Laughing in joy Eldrian grabbed Aoidos and thrust into the vampire again and again. Not stopping until another undead entered his sights. Eldrian ruthlessly rushing at it and chopping the thrall to bits.

Not caring one bit for the warning notifications popping up in his head, nor the XP indicators telling him that his targets were long dead.

...

'No, no-no-no, no!' Kydone shook her head as she dashed between the trees and searched for Eldrian. Having suddenly gotten a bad feeling, something she couldn't explain but had woken her from her sleep.

...

"Why did you stop me?" Idras asked as he struggled to recover his breath. A big hole the size of a fist in his side. His form drooping from exhaustion, his greatsword nearly slipping from his hands.

"We warned you to not participate," Hrothgar replied calmly, both currently on the ground. The dwarf however not even out of breath.

'This makes no sense, he is only Tier 9!' The vampire lord felt like cursing that someone weaker than him could actually beat him with ease.

"Just because Lord Amnur asked us to not kill you, does not mean we won't." Hrothgar added while the vampire lord looked to the sides for his reinforcements. He had immediately called to all his friends once he realized just how strong the dwarf who had stopped him was.

"Stand down. We know why you are here." Hrothgar said, infuriating the Vampire Lord. If there was one thing he could not stand, it was someone telling him what to do.

"Like hell I would!" Shouting this Idras charged at the dwarf in pitch black armor. Putting all his strength into the attack. Yet the dwarf was unfazed, raising his shield the runes over his armor and shield lit up in a soft brown.

The blow was easily blocked, yet the surrounding trees sent flying from the shockwave. A crater forming with the dwarf at the center.

"If you wish for an end to your undeath, let me give it to you," Hrothgar said after bringing his shield down and deactivating the defense mode to go on the offensive. With speed easily breaking the sound barrier he charged at the vampire.

Red runes glowing over the black axe as it struck at the vampire lord who was sent flying from the hit. Trees snapping like twigs, the dwarf appearing before him before he could even recover. Yet, instead of ending the vampire Hroghtgar jumped back and looked at the sky warily.

"Do you wish to start a true war?" Hrothgar asked as he switched his armor back to defense mode, hoping that it would at least block one hit while he prayed for Lord Amnur to save him should the entity make a move.
