Chapter 411: A spell called creation

"Impossible, even mana crystals are filled with only raw mana."

Eldrian shrugged, while he had had some crystals on him for some time, he had never taken the time to study them. "What about a Magic Crystal?"

Ayden had no reply, for how could he. He had never been close to one. Before trying anything, as a precaution, Eldrian asked Ayden to cast one more spell.

"Please, use your strongest healing spell. I want to try and show you, but... You know how dangerous magical experiments can be."

Ayden nodded and agreed, taking a few seconds to gather enough mana before casting it on Eldrian who this time took control of the divine mana and sent it to Berdevo. Somehow, he suddenly knew how to make use of the Pauldron's ability. So he stored the Tier 4 divine healing spell for incase.

With that done, Edlrain felt far more comfortable doing something he felt was going to turn out horrible.

To try and demonstrate what he was getting at, Eldrian casts Nidia, Floga, Fos... all the Tier 0 spells. Suddenly, even casting all 7 Tier 0 spells was no longer hard. Six balls were now floating around him, a ball of flame, of water, of dirt, of light, of darkness, as well as a ball of wind. Just barely visible as it obscured the view through it. Lastly, a ball of light green was inside Eldrian but not dispersing.

"Mana is mana." Eldrian said, suddenly moving all the balls towards each other. Before his sudden realization, he would have needed to forced them to move, especially to merge. Now, he just needed to think.

The balls merged. When water and fire met, they sizzled for a moment before suddenly becoming one. A mix of fire and water in harmony.

Then came wind, stirring things up for a second, but after just making the flames larger and carrying the water with. Following came the dirt, muddying the water.

Next were light and dark, and while the two were opposites. (Light being the presence of light and energy, and dark being the absence of both.) The two did not cancel each other. Instead, in the center of it all, they started flowing next to each other. Like Yin and Yang.

When nature also joined the mixture, suddenly the flames became white-hot, the water ice, the dirt jade, the air bellowing thunder.

Eldrian now held in his hand a flaming crystal of near blinding brightness that was constantly releasing the sounds of thunder. Jade formed around the ice flames, which themselves had living flames inside. In the center were light and dark were in harmony, thunder brewed up a storm.

[Unique spell created]

[Spell: Creation]

[Unkown]

Eldrian didn't mind the system notification and instead started flooding the crystal with mana, causing the flames to dim. The thunder to lessen, and the jade to darken to a dark purple. However, he didn't have nearly enough mana. As such, after emptying his entire stockpile of mana, the crystal suddenly became blinding again. The thunder raged and the jade shined in a golden color.

The surrounding mana charging towards the crystal, as if it was a black hole.

Eldrian realized immediately what was going to happen. So pulled out Aoidos and used sing and bring life to regain mana to use Kyma. Blowing Ayden away while he threw the crystal into the air away from the two.

Boom!

A sound (so devastating that everyone in the camp ducked for cover) filled the air and blew the two apart even further. Landing fifty meters away from their original locations

Eldrian's right arm lay a few meters further back and he was only alive thanks to having worn all his armor, Ayden instead was filled with  shrapnel. The two were in dire straits, yet neither of them felt cheated.

When the first responders arrived they found the two chatting animatedly about what they had just witnessed. Ignoring their injuries like they were mere scratches. Despite the fact that they were clearly life-threatening from just a glance.

"What was that just now?" Ayden asked, filled with excitement and not at all mad that he was bleeding from every part of his body.

Eldrian used the stored healing spell to keep Ayden from going even closer to 0HP, he was already too close for comfort. The spell did amazing work and most of his wounds were almost instantly healed.

His arm, instead, he just cauterized to stop the bleeding.

"It was amazing wasn't it!" Eldrian said with a bright smile, "I knew I would fail, but I had to try."

"I can see why, was that a new spell?"

"More like a merger of elements than a spell." Eldrian replied.

"Was that what you meant, that the mana is still mana regardless of the element?"

Eldrian nodded, "Yes, but I had too little mana and too little control to contain what I made."

"What was it by the way?"

"I don't know?" Eldrian replied and the two laughed.

"What on earth happened!" A captain asked as he appeared on the site, seeing the charred crater he feared the worse. Another devil attack. Yet, seeing the two talking as if nothing had happened made him doubt his eyes.

"Sorry, sorry," Eldrian said, trying to stand and instead faceplanting on the ground. In his rush to make sure Ayden was alright he had used his last bit of energy. Mumbling from the ground, he said, "Please call Katania."

Ayden nodded, he knew the spell Eldrian had asked him to cast had saved him. However, he was still not in a good position. Still, he was happy. What he had just seen had proved his suspicion that divine magic was indeed not something just for the gods. Yet, what he had seen was also not divine magic.

It was like the baby of divine magic and elemental magic. Filled with unknown power, but without a container.

'No wonder we need to pray for inspiration to learn a spell. If anyone can achieve what Haru just did by accident.' Shivers flew down his spine as he thought of it.

A few seconds later the two were surrounded by a crowd who parted when Katania arrived. She immediately made sure that both weren't in life-threatening conditions before starting to treat them.

"What happened?" She asked as soon as Eldrian regained consciousness. Ayden had lost his when Katania healed him, the extra strain too much for him.

"I found what I was missing," Eldrian said with a smile. "But I'm not nearly strong enough to actually succeed."

Naturally, this made no sense to Katania. But at least it put everyone at ease as they realized it was not an attack. Eldrian's further explanation of how he failed in a magic experiment caused most to leave.

"What type of magic experiment does that?" She asked, pointing to where Eldrian had thrown the flaming-ice-jade-thunder crystal. A crater 1 meter deep and 5 meters wide stood proud in the grass field.

"Trying to learn divine magic." Eldrian said, his reply causing those who were leaving to stop in their tracks, and leaving Katania grasping straws.

How could she not know how divine magic worked. How it requires faith in a god. Faith so pure and strong that the god acknowledges you and allows you to see the true nature of the spell module and gift you with the mana to cast it. How it was not something someone could take up just because.

"Impossible!"
