[Confession of a Beastman First Part]

Raising his head, Marco begins to speak about what he knew detachedly.

“After leaving this Devon village with my family, I dug crystals at the Rahaman mine for several years and made a living in a village near the mine.”

I’ve heard from villagers who have worked in the mine that there is a village for the laborers to live in inside the fortress like place.

“However, I was asked by the organization that opened up the mine, ‘Would you like to go to a place where you can make more money?’; since I wanted to give a better life for my wife and daughter, I decided to help with the repair of a facility in a certain place.”

Marco thought he were to work in the mine, but apparently, he was sent to the place where many villagers went missing.

“Is that certain place the Abyss Hole in the depths of the Demon Forest in Youg Hannotes?”

Marco’s complexion changes in an instant at my question.

“Why do you know about it, Frick-dono? No one should have returned from there!”

“That is——”

“It is because we have received such a report from my father, the Frontier Count. The report stated that there is a mysterious facility beneath Abyss Hole.”

“Frontier Count-sama has… received information about that facility… Is that so…”

“Yes.”

Marco turns his gaze into the air as if looking up at the heavens.

“Then, I wonder if that means you have also known that the people staying in the mine are not the people of the kingdom of Hartford?”

“Err, please wait a minute. What does that mean?”

“I mean that those people came from outside the kingdom. They speak in the official language, but they also use unfamiliar words.”

An unexpected information comes from Marco.

He said that the people of the mine, who appear to be connected to the commander of the Royal Guard Knight – Gile, are a group of people from outside the kingdom.

“People from outside the kingdom, you say…”

“Yes, their appearance is not different from Frick-sama and co, but they use a language that I have never heard of before. Besides, that facility was made using a technology that cannot be produced by the kingdom currently.”

“What is the purpose of that facility?”

“Even I do not know that. However, they were desperately fixing the underground facility. And I heard from the beastman I worked with that he heard them saying, ‘Open the door once again’.”

“Door…”

That ‘door’ that those people from outside the kingdom wanted to open. Considering that it was the place where the Great Invasion occurred, it makes me get a sense of unrest.

“Yes, I also thought it is a facility to open something, but… I was told that if the facility was exposed, they wouldn’t guarantee my life.”

“That means that the high pay also served as a hush money, huh.”

“Yes, but that was the lie of those people. They didn’t intend to send back the beastmen that were brought there alive.”

Marco touches the bandage wrapped around his body and makes a vexed face.

“Are those injuries done by those people who were in the facility?”

“Yeah, those guys suddenly told us to get out of the facility … therefore we followed, but suddenly we were attacked by the Abyss Walker they brought from behind. When I came to, I was under the corpse of my friends, seriously injured.”

“Please wait a minute. Was there an Abyss Walker at the facility?”

“Yes, I have even seen a few in the mine. They usually wear eerie armors to make themselves look like humans, but the figures behind those armor are definitely Abyss Walkers.”

The line that I wished not to be connected ended up being connected by Marco’s testimony.

The people staying in the mine seemed to have the skill to use Abyss Walkers, and at that moment it became clear that there is a very high possibility that those people and Gile, the commander of the Royal Guard Knight Order, are connected.

If that is the case, the Abyss Walkers we killed were the ones staying in Abyss Hole, huh.
