Sea City People’s Hospital.

Deep into the night, the emergency hall was packed.

“Hurry up and find Doctor Zhao! No! Call Chief Cheng down for a consultation!”

The medical staff jogged to clear the green passage for the critically ill patient. The nurse quickly said something, but her voice was quickly drowned out by the chaos.

Some blamed each other, while others begged in low voices. Unrelated words overlapped and got on everyone’s nerves.

However, the payment line in the corner of the hall was exceptionally quiet. This was a place where money spoke.

It was Fang Yan’s turn.

“I’m here for Jiang Lan in the ICU. Can you help me see how much money is left?”

“Less than a thousand.” The toll collector looked up out of habit, and his expression changed slightly.

The girl outside the glass window looked haggard. She was gray from head to toe, and there were deep and shallow bloodstains on her shoulders. She looked like she had fought with someone in the wilderness.

Fang Yan wiped her hands with the corner of her shirt and took out a card from her bag. She handed it over. “Put in another 50,000.”

The toll collector was skillful, but when he saw the blood on the bank card, he said kindly, “Madam, do you need me to call a nurse for you?”

Fang Yan was stunned. She forced a smile, thanked him, and left.

It wasn’t her blood anyway.

Fang Yan sat on the steps outside the hospital and recalled today’s farce with some amusement. She never dreamed that she would one day risk her life for her love rival.

Originally, Fang Yan and Cheng Song had agreed to watch a musical tonight, but they received another invitation in the afternoon.

She remembered hearing the sweet voice coming intermittently from the phone, which had made Fang Yan subconsciously sit further away. Cheng Song asked and answered questions on the cell phone, but he did not notice Fang Yan’s emotions at all.

Fang Yan was tearing an orange peel in boredom. Seeing that Cheng Song had hung up, she finally said, “Jiang Yan again? Has she found a job?”

“God, who else can it be other than her!” Cheng Song took a few steps to Fang Yan’s side and spoke in a half complaining, half showing off tone. “But it’s still not bad. Have you heard about the recent animation festival? Ah Yan also went. I heard that the response was not bad. At least she didn’t embarrass herself.”

Jiang Yan was four years younger than Cheng Song. The two of them lived close to each other since they were young, and didn’t lose contact until Cheng Song went overseas. After Jiang Yan graduated, she worked as a bar singer in a third-tier city. When she heard that Cheng Song had returned to China at the beginning of the year, she ran to Sea City to “join him.”

Cheng Song grabbed a piece of orange and threw it into his mouth. “Today is the last day of the commercial performance. Let’s go to the venue in the afternoon and have a meal together. How does that sound?”

Fang Yan: “I don’t want to go.”

After saying that, she felt that she was too petty. Her grandmother always nagged her that as a girlfriend, she could not be as willful as at home. She had to be more understanding.

“We’re going to watch a musical tonight. Have you forgotten?” Fang Yan explained.

Cheng Song smiled when he heard that. “You’re talking about that? Don’t worry, Jiang Yan has already asked. The theater and the animation festival are very close to each other. We won’t be late. She was the one who booked the tickets. She said that she felt a little sorry that she didn’t buy a gift the last time.”

This news instantly dampened Fang Yan’s interest in watching the drama. She reminded Cheng Song, “Really? Didn’t she bring a lot of photos of you two when you were young last time?”

“Ha! She’s deliberately messing with me, the little girl!” Cheng Song scolded jokingly. “You’re not jealous of a child, are you?”

“Not really.”

“I knew you were the best!” Cheng Song opened the closet and took out an exquisitely tailored white cashmere jacket. “It’s cold at night. I’ll put one in the car for you to wear when you’re cold.”

Fang Yan agreed.

After leaving the topic of Jiang Yan, Cheng Song returned to her usual meticulous and considerate self.

When Fang Yan met Cheng Song at the art exhibition in France, she was moved by his thoughtful actions. Cheng Song did not like paintings. According to him, he only liked Fang Yan.

However, Cheng Song’s attentiveness seemed to be intermittent. For example, he remembered her birthday, but he could not remember her taste. He remembered that she was afraid of the cold, but he did not know that she hated the color white the most.

Therefore, when Fang Yan looked at Cheng Song, it was as if there was a thick glass wall between them. She could only see an outline.

Fang Yan was very uncomfortable.

Fang Yan used the excuse of preparing milk tea as a return gift and did not set off with Cheng Song. When she arrived, the performance at the event location had ended and the staff and some performing guests were finishing up.

Perhaps because Fang Yan had been wandering around like a headless fly for too long, as two girls came over to help enthusiastically. When they heard that she was looking for Cheng Song, the blue-haired girl’s eyes lit up.

“You’re here to see Sister Jiang Yan, right? A fan, right? Hehe, I suddenly fell in love with her, so I came to volunteer.” She took the milk tea from Fang Yan and said warmly, “But you’re really good-looking. You’re not inferior to Sister Jiang Yan.”

Fang Yan was caught between laughter and tears. “Thank you, but to be precise, I’m here to look for Cheng Song.”

She couldn’t get through to Cheng Song’s phone. Fang Yan found Cheng Song’s car and realized that he had left his phone in the car. Apart from the keys, Jiang Yan’s bag and hat were also placed in the passenger seat.

Fang Yan suddenly remembered what Jiang Yan had deliberately said to her that day: Look at these photos. Don’t you think Brother Cheng Song and I look more like a couple?

Fang Yan kicked the stone hard. In the light not far ahead, a white figure was jumping back and forth. Fang Yan recognized the cashmere coat at a glance.

How annoying!
