As Ming Zhu’s consciousness was in a blur, the covers on her body seemed to be lifted, her ankles were caught in the palm of a hand and gently tugged over, then her thin trousers were rolled upwards little by little.

The man’s hands moved gently and lightly, he was visibly being very careful.

Ming Zhu, sleepy and exhausted, really couldn’t keep open her eyes and thus the whole person, looking defenseless and unable to resist, was quietly nestled in his embrace.

Zhao Zhi silently watched the wounds on her knees. The bruises still looked frightening. Taking the medicinal powder, with a meek and focused expression, he properly smeared the medicine for her, before carefully taking a look at her calves. Behind her calves, as expected, appeared an obvious blue color, thinking about it, she must have been kicked with quite some strength.

The dark light in Zhao Zhi’s eyes deepened as he straightened her clothes, put on a pair of socks on her feet, and then covered her with the quilt.

The young girl’s features were delicate, her sleeping posture appeared naive, her small face obviously looked soft and tender, and her skin as smooth and supple as white snow.

The fingertips in Zhao Zhi’s sleeve caressed her face twice. He couldn’t resist reaching out and pinched the soft flesh on her cheeks, without much force.

Ming Zhu seemed to be disturbed in her sleep and whined once before resuming her sleep.

The next day was a perfect spring day, with the warm sun sweeping over every corner of the chamber.

Ming Zhu woke up in this warm atmosphere, and as she was about to get up, felt that her knees were still somewhat painful.

Biying hurriedly came forward to stop her, “Miss, you have to stay in bed these days to recover properly from your wounds.”

Biying’s face was ghastly pale even with light makeup on, one could see that her complexion was very haggard.

Ming Zhu asked her what was the matter.

Biying lowered her face and replied without any change in her expression, “This slave didn’t sleep well last night.”

Ming Zhu then said with consideration, “Then you retire and go rest.”

“No need.” Biying took the opportunity to change the subject as she said, “His Highness specifically instructed this slave before he left to watch over you for these two days, so as to not let you get out of bed.”

Ming Zhu felt that Zhao Zhi was really making a big deal out of a small matter, “I’m really fine.”

“Don’t make things difficult for this slave anymore.”

“I’m really fine. Don’t worry, I won’t tell him.”

Ming Zhu was aware that Biying and the others were both respectful and fearful of Zhao Zhi, for fear of being punished, they didn’t dare to disobey his orders.

But Zhao Zhi wasn’t an all-seeing god, as long as they didn’t tell him, he had no way of knowing.

Ming Zhu got out of bed and after washing up, the table was already set for breakfast. She drank a bowl of sweet porridge, which filled her stomach.

Biying saw that miss Ming Zhu’s complexion also didn’t look too good, so she asked, “Miss, did you have another nightmare last night?”

Ming Zhu put down the bowl and chopsticks in her hands, stretched her waist and yawned a while before she propped up her listless little face with her hand. She said, “It wasn’t really a nightmare.”

Going back and forth, it was still those same pictures. Later, Zhao Zhi seemed like he had become the emperor ? He very rarely went back to the other residence where they used to live.

In the dream, Zhao Zhi forever seemed to look so sad, he was silent and didn’t talk much. Always alone, standing under the moonlight, his gaze was unfocused, his back profile visibly looked quite pitiful.

He became the most distinguished person, but the coldness surrounding his body became more and more intense.

However, what made Ming Zhu feel relieved was that Zhao Zhi seemed to have erected a tombstone for her and found a good spiritual burial site for her. But it seemed that Zhao never went to pay his respects to her. Ming Zhu couldn’t tell if this was a figment of her imagination from her past life or something that really happened later after her death.

Coming back to her senses, she didn’t want to talk about it anymore, and said, “Biying, bring the calendar over for me.”

Biying handed her the calendar.

Ming Zhu took a look at the date, the Lantern Festival was just two days away.

Now everything was ready, she just needed a favorable wind.

She didn’t want to be an unseemly outside mistress for Zhao Zhi, she didn’t even to be his concubine.

Her mother, on her deathbed, had once told her that it was better to be the wife of an ordinary man than to be the concubine of a rich man.

A concubine was by nature beneath others. Her husband was not her husband, and she had to live under the good will of the main wife, so she had to live cautiously at all time, never daring to speak up.

Moreover, Zhao Zhi just liked her body, he didn’t really like her. He won’t even wait for the time when she gets old and unattractive, and will, just like in their previous life, grant her death without any hesitation.

“Miss, what are you looking at ?”

“Nothing, just thinking about what clothes would look good to wear on the day of the Lantern festival.”

“His Highness will definitely prepare the clothes in advance for you.”

“Hmm.”

These words that Biying just said were true, Zhao Zhi’s little fetishes were numerous, he especially liked to dress her up, he absolutely had to dress her up beautifully in order to be satisfied.

But no matter how nicely she was dressed, she couldn’t wear the clothes outside of the bedroom, for often they would be ripped apart by him in the bedroom.

He looked gentle and elegant, but his hands were powerful.
