Chapter 114

(41.3)

Ming Zhu felt very wronged, how could she be blamed for such a thing? The main culprit was him after all.

She was too lazy to argue with him, so she stopped talking to him, a little angry.

Holding her hand, Zhao Zhi led her outside. Ming Zhu turned her head to observe his side profile. She only felt that this man was growing more and more tall and straight, and was also becoming more and more like the him inside the dreams, deep and unfathomable.

The crown prince residence’s carriage was waiting outside of the palace. As the two of them crossed a long corridor, they ran into Song Huaiqing, who was also about to leave the palace.

When Song Huaiqing saw Ming Zhu’s face, he immediately frowned. The strong fragrance of the night before was still engraved in his head.

Zhao Zhi placed himself in front of Ming Zhu, blocking his sight. He pursed his lips, without saying anything.

The last time Song Huaiqing saw Ming Zhu, he actually didn’t think much of her, she was but a concubine to warm the bed, when Zhao Zhi would lose interest in her, she would be put aside and no longer cared for.

Although last night’s incident was not Ming Zhu plotting against him, however Song Huaiqing still blamed this incident on her head.

His prejudice was difficult to remove and it was difficult for him not to be angry at Ming Zhu.

Song Huaiqing raised his eyes to look at Ming Zhu, “I offended miss Ming Zhu last night, I will make amends and offer my apologies to you another day.”

Ming Zhu didn’t expect him to say such a thing. It couldn’t be said that he had offended her, the two were separated by the bed curtain and weren’t able to clearly see each other through it, not to mention the fact that he had his back turned towards her.

Ming Zhu was stunned and, with her clumsy mouth, for she was no match for these sophisticated people, she stuttered: “No…no need.”

Song Huaiqing’s peach blossom eyes swept her a glance that carried a chill, “This is what I should do. Since some things have already happened, I won’t avoid them.”

(TL’s note : I don’t have the words, what a jerk…)

His words came to an end, the poisonous arrow was released.

The cold smile at the end of Song Huaiqing’s eyes disappeared, “Aunt is still waiting for me, I’ll be leaving first.”

For a long moment, Zhao Zhi didn’t utter a sound.

Ming Zhu felt pain in her palm from being squeezed by him. She softly shouted out “it hurts”.

Zhao Zhi loosened his grip, “Let’s go.”

Whether or not Song Huaiqing had really seen something, or whether he was intentionally saying these words in front of him, Zhao Zhi didn’t intend to ask anything. This matter had already passed and was now a matter of the past.

While Ming Zhu was sitting in the carriage, she casually took a book to read it. After reading half of it, she was unable to sit down anymore, “I haven’t bid goodbye to the princess yet.”

Zhao Zhi lifted his eyelids and stared at her face before spitting out the word: “Heartless.”

Looking at her, she seemed quite happy.

She didn’t seem affected at all by what had happened last night.

Zhao Zhi lowered his eyes and clenched his fist. If he hadn’t discovered that she was missing last night, would she have been willing to ask another man to help her ?

Zhao Zhi raised his eyes again and took away the book from her hand. He looked into her clear transparent eyes while his cold fingertips held her chin, “Zhu Zhu.”

Ming Zhu avoided his gaze.

Zhao Zhi was going to ask her if she loved him, even a little bit, now? The words were on his tongue, but he wasn’t able to ask them.

Ming Zhu had a shiver from the coldness of his fingertips. She lifted her face, which had lost some weight these past few days, though her face still looked round, delicate and soft. The flesh on her cheeks was just right, she looked especially beautiful.

She didn’t understand what he wanted, “What… what’s wrong?”

Zhao Zhi let go of her chin, “Nothing.”

Ming Zhu sensed that his spirits were low, but she had no interest in asking him the reason why. She looked down and started playing with her fingertips.

Zhao Zhi couldn’t stand it, “Stop doing that.”

“Oh.”

Fortunately, they had already arrived at the crown prince’s residence.

Ming Zhu didn’t know what he was angry about, for him to be so odd and unusual, it would be good if he could  just choke on it.

Zhao Zhi got off the carriage first before carrying her down.

Ming Zhu suddenly remembered something and asked, “Can I stop copying words and practicing my writing for today?”

Zhao Zhi thought about it, “You can.”

Ming Zhu was just testing the waters, she never thought he would actually agree. The past few days before, no matter how pestering or forceful or spoiled she acted, it was all useless. She had to copy every single passage, without missing one.

Today he had agreed really quickly.

Then Zhao Zhi said: “It will leave free time for the imperial doctor to check your pulse and nurse your body.”

Ming Zhu was like confronted with her greatest enemy.

Zhao Zhi thought that she was afraid to take medicine and comforted her with a few words, with a warm voice.

He really wanted a child now.

The imperial doctor had told him before that her body was cold and that getting pregnant would be difficult, so things couldn’t be rushed.

Ming Zhu’s heart was drumming, she forced herself to smile, “Your Highness, didn’t you not like children before?”

“No such thing.”

Ming Zhu tried to convince him, “But… I can’t give birth to a child… before the crown princess, right?”

The problem was that she simply did not want to give birth to a child at all.

Zhao Zhi remained silent for a while. Looking into her eyes, he asked, “Zhu Zhu, then do you want to be the crown princess?”

Ming Zhu wasn’t able to say even one word.

She didn’t want to.
