C23 – I Won Your Heart within a Month Too

Hearing Ning Xiangrong’s question, Liu Yuan felt guilty.

Of course he couldn’t tell her that he used to have dozens of lovers in the game — his mind wandered to the pages of female characters in his illustrated handbook.

His response was taken by Ning Xiangrong as some sort of silent confession.

Although she had thought about this possibility, she was still heartbroken. She had been looking for him for the past three years, during which she had suffered a lot, and she had only recently returned to Water Moon Dock.

And then, after resting for several days, she went out on the mission to settle the engagement.

Little did she know that she would see him here.

Yet, he hadn’t changed a bit — still that frivolous and dissolute playboy!

Back then in Water Moon Dock, he had dared to steal her clothes, and now, he had stolen the heart of that innocent young girl, who was utterly infatuated with him. God knows just how many other girls he had been fooling around with!

However, when Ning Xiangrong noticed how upset Liu Yuan seemed, her heart softened. After all, he had lost almost all his cultivation base, so he must have suffered a lot more than her.

But she was still jealous to know that he had other women.

“I’ve asked around. You came to Pool Feather Mountain Manor a month ago, heavily injured, and you were brought here by a woman.”

Ning Xiangrong stressed the last word while glaring at Liu Yuan. “You’ve only been here for a month, and yet you are able to make that girl crazy about you already. You are really something!”

Liu Yuan blurted out, “I won your heart within a month too!”

He had been visiting her during her bath time for a month, chatting with her, and gradually she fell for him.

To be frank, even he himself felt that what he did was brazen, and that it was a miracle she hadn’t killed him.

Naturally, he never told any other player about this.

Liu Yuan would not want others to know about his dirty tricks.

The character Misty Flower was an exception — he was too eager to show off.

In fact, Liu Yuan believed he was the first one to have conquered most of the characters in the game.

Then his thoughts wandered back to the moment and he instantly started to regret having said that.

What was he thinking? He won her heart within a month too?! How could he say that?

Sure enough, Ning Xiangrong blushed and jumped to bite Liu Yuan on the neck. “You bastard!”

“Ouch! It hurts… I’m only at the Foundation Establishment Stage. I can’t take the attack from someone at the Core Formation Stage! What if you break my neck?!”

Liu Yuan struggled to free himself from Ning Xiangrong.

Of course Ning Xiangrong didn’t really mean to hurt him. Hearing this, she immediately loosened her grip. If she put her all into the bite, Liu Yuan could very likely be injured.

She let him go, leaving a mild bite mark on his neck.

“So what if your neck is broken? It might as well!”

Ning Xiangrong snorted coldly, but she blushed again as she looked at the mark on Liu Yuan’s neck. Embarrassed, she took out a handkerchief and gently wiped off her dribble.

Then she suddenly realized that what she said just now was improper.

So she put away the handkerchief and glared at Liu Yuan before softly snorting, “Forget it. I was kidding. I can’t really bear to see your neck broken.”

Liu Yuan was confused by her sudden change of mood, “What now?”

The woman was so moody.

Were all women like that? Unlike her previous arrogant and aloof self, Ning Xiangrong had now become vivacious. Or perhaps she was revealing her true feelings only in front of him?

It seemed that she had really changed a lot over the past three years.

“Nothing.” Ning Xiangrong smiled and said lightly, “Forget it. Anyway, you are with me now. That is enough.”

After she finished, she waved her sleeves and set up a barrier formation around them. Just as Liu Yuan was confused about what she wanted to do, Ning Xiangrong softly said, “Now you can tell me about Yue Longzhang… what is going on with him exactly?”

“There are marks of Devil Cult on his body. I noticed them during the fight.”

“What marks?”

Liu Yuan replied with a serious look, “When he attacked me, he suddenly became extremely furious. The fierce look in his eyes was more like a beast’s. His emotions changed so rapidly due to the cultivation technique of Devil Cult. This change in temperament was very subtle. Ordinary people will not be able to notice it.”

Liu Yuan genuinely felt sorry for Yue Longzhang in his heart. He made this all up. The only reason why Yue Longzhang became extremely angry at Liu Yuan was that he loved Ning Xiangrong.

But unfortunately…

One thing special about Ning Xiangrong was that she was exceptionally slow in perceiving other people’s emotions.

While almost everyone in Water Moon Dock knew that Yue Longzhang loved Ning Xiangrong, she herself had no idea.

She simply ignored him as well as his feelings.

Yue Longzhang was indeed pitiful and pathetic.

Ning Xiangrong frowned, “Although Yue Longzhang is not a very nice person, his father is an elder of the sect as well as a good friend of my father. How could he…”

It seemed that Ning Xiangrong had already started to buy the story.

Liu Yuan chuckled, “You don’t know him well, I guess. I am very familiar with Devil Cult, so I can’t be mistaken.”

Seeing him laugh, Ning Xiangrong also revealed a smile. But then she furrowed her eyebrows again, “How come you know so much about Devil Cult?”

Liu Yuan seemed upset by this question, “Please… don’t ask. It’s all in the past.”

Apparently he didn’t want to talk about it.

But actually, Liu Yuan was once again putting on an act.

Once he had made sure that the crisis of Ning Xiangrong and Gu Siyin was solved for the moment, Liu Yuan relaxed and thus his mind became active again.

To be frank, he even started to enjoy dating two women at the same time.

Ning Xiangrong held his hand and said softly yet firmly, “Sure, you don’t have to tell me if you don’t want to. Look, I don’t know what happened, but from now on, I will always be by your side.”

Yes!

Liu Yuan cheered in his heart, but still, he remained calm and said, “You don’t have to do this. Actually, I have been spying in Devil Cult all these years. That’s why I had to leave without saying goodbye… Rong Rong, I’m sorry.”

Ning Xiangrong stared at him in a daze, “I didn’t know…”

Liu Yuan nodded and continued, “And then I failed and I was seriously injured. Alas, even my cultivation base was all lost…”

He paused for a while and then said, “Forget it. It’s all in the past now. If you are interested, you can just ask your fellow disciple, Ma Shu, and he will tell you everything you need to know. I noticed that he looked rather disturbed just now. Perhaps he also realized that something was wrong with Yue Longzhang… Anyway, since Devil Cult is involved in this marriage, they must be up to something.”

If Ning Xiangrong went to ask Ma Shu, he would naturally put all the blame on Yue Longzhang, so that he could stay clean.

As the daughter of Sect Master, Ning Xiangrong naturally had a say in this marriage.

In this way, Devil Cult would get a scapegoat, and they probably wouldn’t make a move for a while. On the other hand, Water Moon Dock would not blame Liu Yuan; instead, they would hold him in high regard.

Ning Xiangrong pondered for a while and said firmly, “If that’s the case, I will immediately inform my father and ask him to investigate those who have participated in this marriage.”

Liu Yuan added, “Be careful. Whoever it is, if he can collude with the son of an elder in the sect, he must be able to collude with other elders as well.”

Ning Xiangrong nodded. Before she turned around and left, she quickly kissed Liu Yuan on his cheek, and then hurried off.

Liu Yuan was stunned on the spot, staring in the direction where Ning Xiangrong left, with mixed emotions in his heart.
