C38 – Be Prepared to Beg for Your Life

Swish!

The sword chime was loud and firm, as intimidating as the sword itself.

In an instant, it traveled through the air and cut off one front arm of the black fog.

Splash!

“Ahhhhhhhhhh!”

The arm fell to the ground, which turned into a black fog and dissipated. Eight-armed Heavenly Devil howled in pain, but in an instant, its arm grew like a sprout and soon returned to its original state.

Its features seemed blurry, and there was only a ferocious mouth on its face, full of sharp fangs.

Liu Yuan didn’t stop at attacking; he immediately rushed toward the black fog.

“Roar!”

Eight-armed Heavenly Devil crazily waved its arms, and the black fog around him turned into dozens of swords, flying towards Liu Yuan at lightning speed.

Swoosh!

The swords chimed as they flew through the air. Liu Yuan turned around to dodge. The swords in front of him were in different shapes, almost as if there were some patterns.

As he was thinking about it, he raised the Flying Star Sword and blocked another attack. Suddenly, he felt a chill behind his back.

Shit!

Liu Yuan quickly lowered his body, rolled forward and calmly looked up as soon as he steadied himself. As expected, he saw a pitch-black sword slash past where he had been standing. Had he not dodged, he would have been seriously injured.

After the sword flew over, however, it actually made a turn and merged with the other black swords, forming a special pattern around him.

“Be careful! It’s the Taiyi Sword Formation!” The old man suddenly opened his eyes and cautioned Liu Yuan.

Liu Yuan couldn’t help but notice that the old man’s eyes were very strange, one of which was white and the other black.

The old man then let out a muffled groan. The Devil had stabbed even more into his shoulder blade, and more blood flowed out.

Sword formation!

Liu Yuan guessed that, after living on Ding Huan for so many years, the Heavenly Devil had probably mastered the sword techniques and spells of the Jade Void Sect.

He raised his sword, on which the starlight was lit up and split into countless cold beams of light in an instant.

“Flying Star Transmission of Hatred!”

Then he would use a sword formation as well to break this one!

Behind Liu Yuan, beams of sword light in unison pointed at the array of black longswords, and then they dispersed in an instant.

Swoosh!

The golden starlight and black sword light interweaved, lighting up the dark cave, making endless sound of clangs.

Seeing that its plan was ruined by this stranger, the Heavenly Demon, in a fury, was determined to get rid of this annoying man.

Although the sword formation kept changing and seemed intimidating, Liu Yuan was well aware that the Heavenly Devil was nothing but a paper tiger. Therefore, he remained calm in this fight of attrition to wear the Heavenly Devil out.

Meanwhile, he took the opportunity to send a voice transmission to Gu Chang, “Find a safe place to hide.”

Gu Chang was stunned for a moment, then he immediately ran to the side.

Liu Yuan formed a spell to control his sword. He cast a glance at the intertwined starlight and black light, then at the Flying Star Sword in his hand, and finally at the Heavenly Devil opposite him.

This devil was very cautious, standing behind a watertight safety net of sword formation. Liu Yuan wasn’t a sword cultivator, so naturally he wouldn’t be as fast as Eight-armed Heavenly Devil in controlling the sword.

But…

Liu Yuan turned the sword hilt upside down and held it with his two fingers while raising his arm to lift up the sword.

Dazzling starlight lit up again.

One thing special about this Flying Star Sword was that it was made of some kind of unique material which allowed it to control the starlight.

And now, the starlight had formed the shape of a bow.

With a serious look on his face, Liu Yuan placed the sword on the bow and aimed it at the black fog.

Creak!

He pulled the bow.

Just for the recorder, he was still a bowman!

Bang! The bowstring loosened in an instant, releasing a huge amount of energy.

Skill: Skywolf in the North!

Swish!

Be prepared to beg for your life!

Boom!

The sword, wrapped in starlight, cut through the black fog and nailed it onto the cave wall. The starlight then exploded and burned as the black fog screamed and rolled over in the raging fire, shrinking and collapsing, and finally it entered back into the old man’s body.

The flames were burning on the old man’s back, and yet he didn’t even frown. He formed several hand seals and chanted a spell. Golden runes lit up behind him and tightly wrapped around the Heavenly Devil like chains.

The Heavenly Devil was still struggling and growling, “I… I will… come back…”

The old man coldly snorted, “Shut up!”

The golden light shone brightly and suppressed the devil.

The cave fell back to silence.

The old man let out a long sigh of relief and started coughing; he seemed even more weakened. He then said, “Thank you for your help, young man.”

“You are welcome.”

Liu Yuan nodded with a smile and gestured for Gu Chang to come over, “Alright, it’s safe now. Come here.”

Gu Chang jogged over to the old man and asked worriedly, “Sir, are you alright?”

The old man waved his hand, “I’m fine.”

Then he gave a fist-palm salute to Liu Yuan, “My name is Ding Huan. I was the master of Jade Void Sect 700 years ago. But now I’m just a cripple. If it weren’t for your help just now, I’m afraid hundreds of years of my efforts would have come to naught.”

Liu Yuan returned the salute and said, “My name is Liu Yuan, also known as Liu Junxuan. Sir, I’ve heard a lot about you. I’ve heard the rumors that you passed away, and I surely didn’t expect to see you here… As for that black fog…”

Ding Huan sighed, “It’s a long story. Anyway, how did you end up here?”

Liu Yuan pointed at Gu Chang, “Well, I was looking for him. I talked to his mother just now and learned that this little fella was on the mountain, so here I am.”

Gu Chang looked at him, puzzled, “You are looking for me?”

Liu Yuan nodded with a friendly smile, “Yes, I need to talk to you about something.”

“What is it?”

Liu Yuan shrugged, “It’s family business.”

Gu Chang immediately became alert and frowned, “Don’t tell me you’ve fallen in love with my mother, have you?”

Liu Yuan almost burst out laughing.

He tried hard to hold back his laugh before saying, “No, it is about Pool Feather Mountain Manor…”

“I won’t go there! I want to be with my mother!”

Gu Chang suddenly became very emotional.

Liu Yuan thought to himself that this kid indeed was not as innocent as he appeared to be. Apparently he had learned a lot about Pool Feather Mountain Manor.

Ding Huan caressed his goatee as he said, “Chang’er told me that Pool Feather Mountain Manor wants him back as their heir. But how come you get involved in the family matters of such a powerful manor in the martial world?”

Liu Yuan smiled, “It’s a long story as well.”

He then looked at Gu Chang and continued, “But to cut the long story short, you should call me uncle.”

“Huh?”

Gu Chang was completely dumbfounded. What was this all about?
