CH 37

Jiang Li was shrouded by darkness. Except for the circle of light under his feet, the surroundings were just darkness.

He remembered that he woke up in the hospital and saw his agent that he hadn’t seen for a long time. After realizing that he had returned to the world of his previous life, his brain felt painful as if it had exploded, losing consciousness.

When he woke up again, he was in this darkness.

After walking in the dark for a long time, Jiang Li found that there was no one else here. No matter how he called out, no one answered, not even his own echo.

When he was at a loss, the two sides suddenly lit up. His past experiences began to play like a movie wall, showing scenes from an innocent baby to a famous movie star in both film and television.

In the fast-paced images, he saw his long-dead parents, the kind and friendly director of the orphanage, the fans outside the filming set, and the agents and assistants who had been with him for years.

All of these were images of his previous life. He stood and looked for a long time but couldn’t find any shadow of Jiang Zhan.

“… Is everything a dream?”

Jiang Li stood in front of the wall, looking at the mirror image in front of him as he murmured to himself. He reached forward to touch them but was afraid that they would disappear with a touch. His fingers stopped at a distance of less than two centimeters from them, his fingertips trembling slightly.

If it was a dream, why was everything so real? The anxious expression of Jiang Zhan when he jumped to protect him, the arms that hugged him so tightly, and the blood that trickled onto his face, as if they were still in front of him. Everything was so real that he couldn’t deceive himself, so how could it be a dream?!

His head suddenly hurt violently. Jiang Li felt like his brain was in a mess, as if there were countless hands pulling his nerves, so much so that he squatted down with his hands on his head, clenching his teeth tightly.

–The existence of every dimension has its own inevitable meaning, as long as you treat it sincerely, then everything is real.

A mechanical and calm voice suddenly sounded in his ears, like a hand reaching out from the darkness, pulling him out of the chaos.

Jiang Li looked up quickly and found that the mirror images on both sides suddenly broke apart with a clang, turning into fragments as they scattered throughout space. They then finally turned into a corona of light that scattered out, but the surrounding darkness slowly brightened up.

A blurry yet familiar back appeared in front of Jiang Li, walking forward with his back facing him, Jiang Li didn’t know where he wanted to go.

Jiang Zhan…

Jiang Li came back to his senses; he quickly ran to catch up. He reached out to pull him, after his fingers touched him, the whole figure turned into a corona of light, and it instantly dissipated.

“Jiang Zhan!”

Jiang Li sat up suddenly from the bed, his hands propped up at his sides as he panted heavily, bean-sized cold sweat could be seen rolling down his forehead.

“Host, you’re awake.”

System’s voice echoed in his head, the mechanical voice brought Jiang Li an unprecedented peace of mind, he hesitated for a moment, “Little cutie?”

“It’s me.” System responded, “Are you okay? The doctor said you have a concussion, and you have been unconscious for about five hours since the accident.”

“I’m still fine, just a little headache…” Jiang Li’s words stopped abruptly, he caught the important point in its words. Unconscious for five hours … then where’s Jiang Zhan? And Feng Dong? Are they okay?

Thinking of this, Jiang Li lifted the quilt and got out of bed, but his movement was too big, causing him to sway twice. He quickly held onto the bed and stood properly, leaving the ward after calming down for half a minute.

When the nurse who came to check on him saw him coming out, she hurriedly went up to him and asked, “You’re awake, how do you feel? Does your head still hurt?”

The scene in front of him almost overlapped with the one in the dream just now, causing Jiang Li to go into a trance briefly. He couldn’t tell which one was the dream and which one was the reality for a while. However, his concern for Jiang Zhan made him come to his senses quickly and he asked the nurse anxiously, “May I ask where the people with me are? Are they okay?”

“There are three of you together, the other two men are more seriously injured, but their lives aren’t in danger. They are currently in ward 301 on the third floor… Eh, wait, your body has not yet recovered!”

The nurse’s anxious voice could be heard from behind, but Jiang Li couldn’t wait anymore. He didn’t even wear shoes when he came out, He ran barefoot to the ward which the nurse had said and found Jiang Zhan and Feng Dong.

As the nurse said, both of their lives weren’t in danger, but they hadn’t woken up yet and were still under observation.

When Ji Shu returned from the stairs after a phone call, he saw Jiang Li standing in his bare feet by Jiang Zhan’s bed, frozen. He hurriedly walked over, “Ah Li, you’re awake!”

Jiang Li turned his head to look at him and met his eyes filled with concern, his heart, which had been hanging in mid-air, suddenly calmed down and the whole person was much more awake. He asked him in a low voice, “I’m okay, what about them?”

“President Jiang and Brother Feng had excessive blood loss, but the good news is that it’s not life-threatening, and the doctor said they’ll be fine when they wake up.” Ji Shu said, noticing that Jiang Li’s hand that was resting beside his leg was trembling nervously. Knowing that he was overly worried, he reached out and pulled the stool over, “You are also injured, sit down first, don’t worry too much.”

“Thank you.” Jiang Li held the back of the chair and sat down, his eyes sticking onto Jiang Zhan who was still lying on the bed unconscious. Only five hours had passed but he felt like it had been a lifetime.

He carefully reached out to hold Jiang Zhan’s hand. He felt that his hand was a little cold, but the real touch slowly drove away his inner turmoil.

Ji Shu exited the ward and gently closed the door behind him.

Jiang Li kept the same posture while sitting by the bed for a long time. When Ji Shu came in to persuade him to go back to rest, he acted like he didn’t hear and grabbed Jiang Zhan’s hand, refusing to move, as if he was going to stay here with Jiang Zhan tonight.

Ji Shu was helpless; he went to find the doctor to change the ward.

After he left, Jiang Li asked System, “Little cutie, I remember you said before that if I failed this capture, you’ll delete the files and I’ll need to start over. As long as the task isn’t completed, this world will be repeated endlessly, is that right?”

The system didn’t immediately answer him, as if it knew what he was thinking about and fell into silence for a while and said, “Sorry Host, the premise of deleting the file to start over is only when force majeure conditions cause the mission to fail, the main system will automatically choose the mission to restart, but the host has no right to choose it themselves.”

This meant that Jiang Li had no right to delete the file and restart.

“It’s like that…”

Jiang Li laughed in a low tone, took a deep breath, and suppressed the bitterness that flowed out from the depths of his heart.

“Host, are you okay?” System felt a gloominess that it had never felt before in his mind and asked worriedly.

“I’m fine.” Jiang Li shook his head and repeated again, “I’m fine.”

I just… just want to be greedy so I can spend more time with him.

Ji Shu asked a doctor to change the ward, separating Jiang Zhan and Feng Dong. He and Feng Dong stayed in the same ward so he could take care of Feng Dong, and Jiang Li stayed in the same ward as Jiang Zhan.

Jiang Zhan woke up the next day. When he woke up, Jiang Li had fallen asleep as he was leaning against the back of the chair, but his hand was still holding Jiang Zhan’s hand. When Jiang Zhan moved, he also woke up.

“You’re awake?!” Jiang Li flung himself from the chair to the bedside and asked anxiously, “Anywhere uncomfortable? Do you have a headache? Can you hear me clearly?”

Jiang Zhan’s voice was very hoarse, he grabbed Jiang Li and said, with some difficulty, “Are you okay?”

Before the accident, Jiang Zhan jumped over to protect Jiang Li under his body, and the first thing he said when he woke up was to ask if Jiang Li was okay. Looking at the gauze wrapped around his head, Jiang Li’s eyes became warm, and the tears he had held back for a long time almost flowed out. He sniffed, “It’s you who’s not fine, okay? Who told you to protect me? Are you out of your mind?”

Jiang Zhan was scolded to his face, but he didn’t get angry. The corners of his lips slightly hooked, “What are you crying for? So delicate.”

“I fucking thought you were going to die, okay?” Jiang Li laughed and scolded, but tears fell down unguarded. He reached out to wipe them, but the more he wiped, the more his tears flowed out. In a blink of an eye, half of his face was wet as it was filled with tears.

The fear of not seeing Jiang Zhan again in the dream surfaced once more from the bottom of his heart. The realization that he might leave this world at any time made him almost unable to control himself.

He always thought that on the day he left he would be able to say goodbye to this world and then go on to the next world to complete the capture. However, now he realized that just  separating from Jiang Zhan made his heart hurt so much he could hardly breathe.

The person in front of him wasn’t someone else, not the so-called capture target, but his lover, someone who was willing to take his life to protect himself in the moment between life and death.

After being loved unconditionally by him, how was he willing to leave him for another person?

Jiang Zhan initially just wanted to make a joke, but he didn’t expect that he would make him cry. The two people had been together for so many years, other than crying on the bed after he did Jiang Li too hard, Jiang Li never dropped a tear at any other time. But now he was crying so hard that he couldn’t catch his breath in front of Jiang Zhan.

Jiang Zhan’s heart ached for him. He sat up with one hand and clumsily reached out to help him wipe his tears. He coaxed while wiping, “I’m just saying, don’t cry, okay? I won’t die that easily, we still have many years to live together, don’t worry.”

The words “We still have many years to live together” poked the most painful part of Jiang Li’s heart. Jiang Li covered his eyes but couldn’t cover the tears trickling down.

“Don’t cry…”

Jiang Zhan didn’t have any other way to coax him, so he could only divert Jiang Li’s attention by pretending to have a headache.

Although Jiang Zhan woke up, he still needed to stay in the hospital for two more days of observation. Feng Dong also woke up in the same night, he would also need to stay in the hospital for observation.

The news that Jiang Li was hospitalized due to a car accident was reported by the media the next day. Various media and fans came to look for him, the former wanted to dig some exclusive reports while the latter wanted to care about the health of their beloved idol. As too many people came by, it seriously affected the daily operation of the hospital. Ji Shu had no choice but to change the ward again, and then hired bodyguards to guard the stairs and elevators, prohibiting all media and fans from disturbing them.

Although Jiang Zhan didn’t have any major issues, electrocardiograms were attached to him so it wasn’t easy for him to move around. He even needed Jiang Li’s help to go to the toilet.

Jiang Li didn’t complain at all about serving him, instead, he was eager to try. He removed Jiang Zhan’s pants swiftly, one hand was holding the urine bottle, and another poked the part in between his legs. He picked it up and shook it with interest, “Why is it soft?”

Jiang Zhan, “…”

Jiang Li, you’d better stop what you’re doing.

However, Jiang Li didn’t hear his thoughts. He pinched Jiang Zhan’s member twice and accidentally made it react.

“Oops, sorry, my hand itched to touch it two more times.” Jiang Li let go of his hand and looked at Jiang Zhan with an innocent expression, then said with a sigh of relief, “Mr. Jiang still has a great spirit even though handicapped!”

Jiang Zhan “…”

Your hands itch? I think it’s your butt that is itchy..
