When they returned to where the carriage was, a well-dressed merchant greeted them.
“If there are no injuries, that’s good news.”
“Yes, thank you. It was truly fortunate to meet such distinguished people as Land-san and Milim-san in this way.”
“Do you know us?”
“Of course. Information is the lifeblood of merchants…but even if I wasn’t, anyone would hear about you two, who succeeded in defeating the disaster-level Dragon Zombie on your own as heroes.”
Rumors seem to spread quickly. Well, this caravan seemed to have started from a similar place as us, so maybe it was easy for them to hear the story.
“Thanks to our companions though.”
“You’re too modest…anyway, I would like to express my gratitude formally. Ideally, I would like you to join the carriage, but it seems that you have other means of transportation. Please come to our headquarters in two to three days. I will thank you again.”
The merchant announced.
“Headquarters…?”
“Oh, excuse me. I’m sorry for being late. I’m Maron, the president of Midgard Trading Company.”
“Midgard!?”
“Is that amazing?”
Milim asked.
“When it comes to Midgard Trading Company, it is such a big trading company that 60% of this country is said to be under its umbrella.”
“Oh, so he is a big merchant.”
“I feel like you can’t just dismiss it with the description big merchant…”
I was surprised by how much of a big shot he was. Even if you don’t know the president’s face and name, you know about Midgard Trading Company. If you can make a contract with Midgard, it is considered one of the greatest honors for adventurers.
The man who called himself Maron smiled and put his hand in his pocket to take something out.
“If you mention my name and show them this, you can receive special services from our company.”
He handed me a jewel-like amber-colored stone.
“It’s like a membership card for our company. It will be valid for anyone in our headquarters.”
“I see…”
I didn’t quite understand, but I decided to accept it for now.
“Well then, please come and visit us anytime.”
“Oh…”
Originally, we were planning to go to Araid, and there’s a headquarters there. Rather, all the shops that Fade and the others used were also under their umbrella.
“Hey, if you’re going to have free time in the town anyway, why don’t we go together?”
“Well…”
“Oh, really?! That would be great!”
Milim was happy to hear that, but I wasn’t so sure about it. The speed of transportation by carriage and dragon was completely different. If it was just luggage, we could manage it with the 『Twilight Coffin』, but we didn’t have enough room to carry anyone other than Milim and me.
“If that’s the case, why don’t we hire a carriage?”
“That’s a good idea.”
I’m sure we’ll find a carriage for hire somewhere in the town.
“Maron is enthusiastic.”
“No matter which way we hurry, it’s definitely better to wait for Maron to buy something good…”
“I see.”
“Thank you! We will prepare a seat for you…”
“That’s good. We’ll follow from the sky.”
“Oh… I see. Understood. We’ll make sure to provide a solid environment for meals and lodging.”
And so, we joined the merchant’s carriage.
