Chapter 86: Ex-Party’s Perspective(10)

“Wait, Meiru! That’s Roig-san…!”

Quella shouted, but the pressure emanating from Mireolo’s gaze alone made it impossible for her to breathe, silencing her.

“I can’t believe it, Meiru…”

“Guh… Haa… Meiru! You said you performed the funeral rites for Roig-san’s remains!”

“Well… that was a lie.”

Nonchalantly, without any sense of guilt, Meiru revealed the truth.

“No way… why would you…”

Quella looked at Meiru with disbelief in her eyes.

“The knight order only needed to see the head. But Mireolo is different.”

“Indeed, Meiru. You understand me well, don’t you?”

Even before coming here, the three of them had been in contact with the knight order. If they got too involved, the knight order would want to detain them. So, Meiru had been showing them only the evidence without directly meeting them, using her magic.

The effect was remarkable.

Since then, the three of them had found it significantly easier to move under the jurisdiction of the knight order. However, Meiru knew well that it was only temporary.

That’s why Meiru had brought the head directly to the woman she least wanted to owe a debt to: Mireolo, the president of the Magic Association, the undead slayer.

The influence of the Magic Association, which aimed to spread the prosperity and knowledge of magic, had become so significant that even the country hesitated to intervene. The widespread use and advancement of magical tools necessary for everyday life were greatly contributed by the Magic Association.

Taking advantage of that position, Mireolo continued her illegal research on different races.

Mireolo, the undead slayer.

To those who knew of the past, she was known as the top vampire hunter, with her alias; Mireolo the Crimson Blood. She had killed various undead creatures, including the strongest type of undead, vampires. At times, she had even laid her hands on elves, earning herself the infamous reputation as a killer of different races.

“Well, in return…”

“I understand. I will make sure to silence both the knight order and the guild.”

“Uh…”

Mireolo smirked, while Meiru remained expressionless as always.

In front of the contrasting aura of these two individuals, Fade and Quella, were frozen in place. But Fade managed to open his mouth.

“Wait, Meiru! Explain it to us.”

“Huh? Are you not only weak, but also stupid?”

“Guh…”

While Fade and Quella felt a sense of urgency, Meiru had a seemingly careless expression. But Mireolo’s interest had already shifted to the head referred to as a Dullahan.

“Hmm, I see. Meiru, is this already a Dullahan?”

“I don’t know.”

“You don’t know, huh? Interesting.”

At first glance, Meiru’s answer seemed half-hearted and mood-dampening, causing Fade and Quella to feel anxious. However, Mireolo’s face twisted into an amused smile.

“That means we can measure some changes from now on. This face doesn’t appear to have been specially treated or decomposed. It’s fascinating. Good. However…”

“Hmm… I’ll prepare another gift.”

“As expected of you, Meiru. It would be great if you could abandon that weak hero with no brains and return to my side.”

Mireolo held a high regard for Meiru.

Meiru herself didn’t think she was inferior to Mireolo in terms of magical abilities, considering her position as the top figure in the Magic Association. However, the difference in their actual strengths was evident to everyone.

And Meiru’s actions this time were seen by Mireolo as the first step for Meiru to bridge that gap, to come closer to her side. Mireolo welcomed it and revised her evaluation of Meiru.
