CH 88

“Now, finally, it’s the Margrave’s residence.”

Upon travelling on Earl, we quickly reached the mansion of Margrave Cecilm.

Or rather, this was already… a castle.

“It’s a castle.”

“Yes, a castle.”

Standing in front of this castle, there was a stark difference in scale compared to even the guild branch or the church, as if those buildings could easily fit inside the grounds.

The distance from the gate to the building itself was so great that I considered using Earl to fly right to the front of it. It was strange that there was a garden large enough for dragons to land within the grounds.

“Who goes there!?”

Because of that, we were being greeted by guards with evident wariness even when I called out to them.

If someone suddenly appeared from the sky, of course, they would be surprised…

“Ah… We are adventurers who have come here upon the invitation of Lord Cecilm. I am Land, and this is…”

“Milim.”

They had the guards confirm the letter of introduction prepared by Gihren.

“Indeed, an introduction letter… I apologize! I will escort you immediately.”

“Thank you.”

Since the visitors were likely to be nobles or important merchants, they were on guard seeing just adventurers coming. After a while, we were escorted inside.

And there, waiting for us was…

“A dragon carriage!?”

To bring out something like that within the grounds…

Of course, it wasn’t a flying dragon like Earl, but an Earth Dragon was many times taller than a horse. Actually, I had thought that it was something only royal families would use, and even then, I hadn’t imagined I would see it…

‘I’ve come to an amazing world…’

“The master has instructed us me treat you particularly well.”

“T-Thank you.”

We were guided by the butler and boarded the dragon carriage. While I couldn’t calm down, Milim displayed great grace in her movements.

“You’ve been alone all along, so where did you learn that…?”

“You’re annoying. Well, maybe… Since I was born into a royal family, so maybe my body remembers?”

“What a sneaky thing to say…”

I’m a commoner through and through. Even after becoming an S-rank party, I’ve never been in this kind of situation before, so I couldn’t move properly. I was led into a room while feeling restless and waited for an audience with the lord of the castle.

“Welcome, you’ve come a long way. I welcome you.”

The one who appeared was a lively man in his forties.

He seemed younger than the stories I had heard, probably because of his kind expression, brightness, and lively tone of voice.

“Um… Nice to meet you.”

“Hahaha. Don’t be so formal. You are guests, and you are heroes who have resolved my long-standing worries. You are benefactors.”

“I see…”

“No need for formalities. Adventurers are like that, aren’t they?”

He was a noble who understood adventurers well.

Feeling welcomed, I felt a little relieved.
