Chapter 230 - Let's Talk To Him First

"This isn't one of Jovani's suggestions is it?" The princess then asked flatly. She could see that this would be something that older cousin would come up with. Both because it was a chance for him to do something and an opportunity to rest how effective his cover.

"No. I brought it up to Julius and Hester first." Samuel replied.

"Jovani didn't want to give it to me until I talked with you and even then he seemed a bit hesitant to agree to it." He explained honestly.

"I guess there's a first time for everything." The princess remarked. Jovani was actually approaching the situation from a logical perspective for once. She might have to applaud him later for that.

"What made you think that this is something that you would want to do in the first place?" In the back of her mind she partly wondered by things like this tended to happen at odd times when she was asleep.

"Because Hester said that Richard is trying to figure out how to get information from this person without having to sell anything about your family to him." He answered.

"And I thought that since only a limited amount of people know who I am or only know I just entered the Vedova Nera family, it made be worth it for me to be part of negotiation. He might be willing to let more sleep if he doesn't think he needs to be cautious of me." She couldn't deny that his reasoning was spot on.

What he lacked in certain areas of common sense, he made up in situations such as these were he tended to look at such situations from a larger picture perspective.

"I'm not going to say no to it since I don't know everything that's going on yet. However, if you're thinking about doing this, I want to speak with Richard first and hear what he has to say." Lena told the other.

"I'm not keen on you doing this, but I'm not going to shut it down since it's something to do with your own family as well." Her first instinctive response was of course to say no to the other and tell him to let someone else handle it.

The princess knew however that was something that she couldn't keep saying. Whether she was thrilled about it or not, Samuel was part of the mafia world and things like this he was going to have to take part in whether it was now or later.

"Zane is actually there speaking with him right now, or at least he was before I came in to talk with you about this and see if you were awake for dinner." Hearing this Lena picked up her phone.

She texted her father to see if he was still with the other. If he was, she figured it might work best to see if Richard would be willing to come for dinner and they could discuss everything afterwards or in the morning if the other was willing to stay.

Even though the princess knew that she wouldn't be able to sleep for quite a while, that didn't mean everyone else was working on the same internal time clock for sleep that she was.

"Are you worried that something might happen to me?" Samuel asked as he wrapped his arms around her waist, resting his head on her shoulder, disregarding the fact that she was trying to text.

"I do worry because Sammy-boy, I find you to be a strange person who lacks some of the common sense that is necessary to be in this world." She replied, shifting his left arm slightly so that she could finish texting. He was about to say something in response to this, feeling slightly offended by her comment before she continued speaking.

"But you somehow make that up with being oddly insightful and having keen instincts." She added the last part as she tilted her head up slightly to look at his face.

He had one of those contemplative and affectionate expressions on his face again that made her stomach feel weird whenever she saw it.

"So you think that I might still fit in this lifestyle even if there are some skills I need to brush up on?" he contemplated as he processed what she said. Lena couldn't help but scoff when he said this.

"In a sense, but you do know that common sense isn't something that you can so easily brush up on?" She didn't mean the comment as rude, but there was something amusing to her about the fact that he acted like he could gain more common sense so easily.

"It's not impossible though. Something that wouldn't be too hard for me if I focused hard enough of it. I'm stubborn enough for it." he replied.

"Not as stubborn as me which means it'll take you longer still to do it." Lena argued. This reminded her though that soon she was going to have to get his previous schedule back on track. Everything had been thrown in it array with all the recent events that had taken place.

"I don't know, I think that I can be more stubbornly persistent than you in some areas." Her fiancé replied as he nipped the top of her right ear. She pulled away before he could bite her too hard. It didn't stop the odd feeling from forming in the pit of her stomach again.

They only did it one time and he was suddenly being this way around her even more than he had been before. She wouldn't have minded except for the fact that she didn't want it to interfere with important matters that needed to be taken care of.

"And this is exactly why you don't give a mouse a cookie." She sighed under her breath when she felt the other nuzzle the back of her neck with this face.. She was going to have to do something about him if this was how things were going to be.
