Chapter 234 - Live For This

Samuel didn't end up telling Lena what he was thinking about and that made her question her decision to say such a thing. Sammy could have odd ideas at time that she wasn't thrilled about. She was trying to work on compromise however since she fully intended to go through with marriage since they were engaged and would be tied together for the next few decades.

"Don't do that." The princess told him as she slapped his hand away from the front handle bars of the motorcycle as she focused on attaching the picnic basket securely to it. Samuel had never done it before so it was left up to her to make sure that their lunch wouldn't fly away while they were driving.

"So that one thing I wanted to do wouldn't include me being able to ride this?" He asked in a overly sweet tone of voice as though to curry favor with her. She was unaffected by it however and just simply rolled her eyes as she finished attaching the the basket.

"Does it look to you like we're on the beach yet? If the answer to that is negative then the answer to your question is no." She was too focused on what she was doing that she hadn't noticed the other move to stand behind her as she put the last straps on the basket and gave it a firm enough tug to make sure it was securely in place.

"I'm sure if we closed our eyes and imagined it we would be." He told his fiancé as he put his hands over her eyes to cover them. Even though she knew it was Samuel, she had resist the urge to strike her elbow back against him.

"I recommend in the future that you avoid doing that kind of thing." She warned as she pulled his hands off her face firmly. Unexpected touching was one thing, but impairment of senses was something else that she didn't tolerate all that well.

Training had taught her to instinctively react against such things with force. This meant that it actually took an extra mental step for the princess to stop herself from striking out.

"So blindfolds are out of the question in the event any future surprises?" Samuel took the helmet the other had handed him and put it on. He was always surprised by how well insulated motorcycle helmets were despite the fact that the plastic on the front looked rather flimsy.

"You could try if you wanted to, but I cannot promise how I might react if you did it unexpectedly and I was unaware of where we were heading. If not you, someone else might up getting hurt." She explained as she brushed her hand over the seat of her motorcycle. Even though she always made sure to store it somewhere safe, it never managed to escape getting dust on it if she went too long without driving.

"I hope you remember how fast I drive." She told the other once she had gotten herself positioned on the motorcycle so that it would be safe for Samuel to join her.

It had been a while since she had last had the opportunity to drive. She knew that the moment they took off and it was safe that she wouldn't be able to ignore the intense urge to speed as fast as she could. It would only be a temporary thing however as once they hit the interstate there would be too much traffic for her to go as fast she normally would have like.

"I wouldn't expect anything less from you princess. I'm well aware that you're quite the speed demon." Leo hadn't been the only one to talk to him in passing about how fast the princess could drive.

Samuel actually found out that there was a period of time where her father banned her from using it. Apparently after she had altered it, there was a period of time that she would drive so fast that the security detail that her father had assigned to her was unable to keep up. She did this on purpose of course as she hated being followed and liked to have points of time where she could be left alone to herself. "

"The only time that we rode together I wasn't going as fast as I could so might suggest that you hold on a little tighter and buckle your legs more." Lena instructed as she reeved the engine on the motorcycle.

Feeling the rumbling and hum of the engine under her caused a spark of life to zip through her body. Lena didn't even try to hide the smile that burst across her face when she felt all the too familiar impatient feeling on the engine wanting her to let it take off. These small moments of exhilaration and complete control to push the limit as far as she wanted to were one of the things that the princess lived for. It was exactly the kind of therapy she needed after everything that had been going on recently.

Had she been on her own she would've taken the chance to shout out her delight as the motorcycle kicked and took off at a speed faster than even she had expected. Instead, Lena had settle for letting the feeling of delight building up in her chest come out as a excited trembling her arms as she reeved the motorcycle to push it to go faster. She felt Samuel wrap his arms tighter around her waist as he tucked his head against her shoulder.

She was too happy to riding again after so many weeks that she didn't pay much attention to whether or not the other was enjoying the speed they were traveling at. She didn't think though that he could have been minding it too much since he hadn't tried to yell at her to slow down or any other similar thing.

Though even if he did, the princess couldn't promise that she would've stopped for him. She had missed this sense of thrill and the exhilaration of adrenaline rushing through her body so much that she didn't think much of anything rational could get her to stop.

If she kept up the current pace she was driving at, it was possible that they might actually be able to reach the book in four hours rather then give the navigation told her it was originally going to take. The only thing that would hold her back was other traffic.. One perk of riding a motorcycle however was that some of the typical laws of traffic were easy to bypass when it came to speeding and even so long as the other traffic around her paid attention.
