Chapter 330 Rejecting The Request

Lena sneezed not once but twice. The rough sound and intensity made her nose and head hurt. Allergies or could someone she didn't know about have been talking about her? The princess shook her head with a huff. If it turned out to be the latter, whoever the person responsible for talking about her better have been willing to say anything to her face later on.

"You're going to end up making yourself sick if you don't think about slowing down at some point in time. You can't keep going about and doing things like this." Jovani tried twice without much luck to at least get the princess to eat something. Except for coffee, she refused to touch anything he brought her. Coffee though couldn't be considered sustenance.

"I already told you earlier that you need to stop worrying about me. You should know that I have been through worse before. Something like this isn't enough to get me down and make me sick." Despite the gruff response, the princess chose to her wrap herself in a blanket being acutely aware of the chill beginning to take over the room.

The doctors somehow believed that keeping the temperature colder than necessary would help to kill any germs living in the hospital rooms. Lena didn't understand why they would worry about such things. Germs hardly seemed to be the thing that they should've been worried about at the current moment in time.

Lena would be the devil they needed to worry about if something bad happened. Not just the director or the doctors and nurses who failed to make sure her father came back to her. Everyone in the hospital would be at her mercy if even one small thing went wrong. Regardless of if it happened to Leo, Clive, or her father.

"I think that it would honestly be better at this point if you were the one to think about getting some rest. Not knowing when father is going to wake up will leave us being the two who have to figure out what to do next." Her pushed would be for her uncle to take over. The one thing he would probably argue on despite it making the most sense.

"Romeo and Hester are more than capable of handling things while we stay here. I don't think that it would be wise for either one of us to leave here until we have solid answers about what will happen next." Lena tsked at this. Everyone wanted answers about what to expect. Her more than anyone else. However, they weren't going to come to them any sooner just because they sat around staring and waiting to hear what would happen. It wasn't like Zane or anyone else had secret abilities that would allow for them to heal any faster than they currently were.

"I know that already. I am thinking about the bigger picture in this situation. I think that we can both agree everyone is going to start getting restless soon if there isn't someone put into place to watch over everything with my father going on. Romeo and Hester are good at their jobs. The people wouldn't accept them being in charge so long as you and I are able capable to do it."

Lena might've been a child, but she still remembered the arguments and issues that took place when Zane took time off following the death of her mother. A lot of people were displeased about putting members who were not blood-related in charge until Zane could pick up all of his scattered pieces and take the role back over.

"In that case, I think that person who should then be taking over is you Lena. I know that right now it isn't the answer you want to hear but it is the one that makes most sense. Take into consideration the fact that when your father retires, you're going to be the one to take over after him." Lena let out a muted sound noise in response to this. The princess buried herself further into the blanket, eyes shifting from her uncle over to her father.

Julian wasn't wrong. But… that wasn't the kind of thing that she wanted to be told right now. This situation made her skin crawl and chest tight enough without the reminder that one day she would be taking over for Zane.

A day that she hoped wouldn't be coming for quite some years yet. After what took place now, she didn't think that she would be ready any time soon to be taking over that role.

"I would rather not be thinking about that. Regardless of what you believe makes the most sense, I am wanting you to do it. While I don't think that I am in the position of being able to give such an order. If I were, it would a decision that I would make as a directive not a request." It might not have been a fair card to play, but Lena didn't care if it meant her uncle would do as she requested. If Lena did become the next person to take over, Julian would have to listen to her requests to a certain degree anyways.

He might've been an elder to her, but the line of succession trumped age. Julian would be required to fulfill whatever Lena requested of him. Unless there was a genuine reason for him to object to a requestion. In such a situation as the current one facing them, Julian wouldn't have a viable reason to reject her request. Lena would have the right to be the one to stay with her father while her uncle ensured that everything remained running the way that it should have.

"Lena. I would normally agree with what you have to say in this situation. Right now, however, I have to reject this request and offer. I believe that there are a number of things that you need to focus on fixing that requires you to take some time out of this hospital room once it has been deemed safe."

Those weren't the words that Lena needed to hear at the current moment in time.
