Chapter 3 – Fantasy Item

“Then first, I gotta prepare some ways to defend myself.”

If a monster were to attack me right now, I would have no measures to deal with it, even though I now had this skill. To avoid such a situation from happening, I had to make preparations straight away.

I used <Shop> and went to the weapons category. In this category alone, there were over 100,000 product entries.

I mean, in the first place, who even managed the <Shop>?

…There wasn’t any point in thinking about that right now, so I could only consider it a blessing and use it with gratitude in my heart.

“Ooh, they have guns too… Should I buy one after all?”

“…Hm? [Flame Knife]? …It can burn the target it cuts, huh? Hahah, that’s a fantasy item alright.”

The price wasn’t that high either. Overall, the price of the items on here were much cheaper than the prices on an ordinary online shopping site, which was nice.

“When it comes to ease of use, it’s gotta be a knife-type weapon. If possible, I want to prioritize finding one that has some fantasy-related offensive power…”

Among them, there was a knife that caught my eye.

“[Killer Knife]? It has a 5% chance to instantly kill the target, huh?”

With an effect like this, I could use it like an ordinary knife, and it’d be very useful in battle. However, there were apparently many cases where higher-ranked monsters had instant death resistance, so the instant death effect wouldn’t be effective against them.

In the first place, if such a strong monster appeared, running away was always an option, so it was fine if I didn’t think too deeply about it.

“Then I’ll buy the [Killer Knife], and then…”

I also bought an [Acid Knife], which could corrode the area that it cut. I planned to use cash, not Shop Points, to buy the items.

My current remaining balance was ¥14,623,982.

It was way too much for a high schooler to have, but all of it was my parents’ money. The fact that they had life insurance also contributed quite a bit to that sum.

I put the two knives into the Cart and started to think about defense.

“Just like the knives, looks like there are also enchanted clothes and accessories being sold, huh?”

There were rings that increased strength and clothes that always stayed clean, and many other things. Among these things, I was more interested in shoes and accessories than in clothes that I’d never need to change.

“This one looks good… [Accelerator Shoes]. It increases my running speed. I’ll buy it.”

This one would be really useful in times when I needed to devote myself to running away.

“Then there’s this one, which is pretty expensive, but man, I really want this… [Perfect Ring].”

This [Perfect Ring] was an extremely expensive item that cost ¥3,000,000, but once worn, it would sharply increase the wearer’s physical abilities. Its rate of increase was like experiencing the effects of a permanent [Power Potion B] at all times. This ring was pretty good for survival, considering it augmented not only physical strength, but also defensive power and more.

As long as I had this item, even if I received an unexpected blow from a goblin, I would probably take close to no damage.

“Alright, now I can feel a lot safer. I should probably also stock up on food and some items from the [Potion] series.”

After going through the items and putting them into the Cart, I moved on to the Checkout page.

“Uwaah, I spent nearly ¥5,000,000 in total. Such an extravagant shopping spree… my father is going to scold me from his grave.”

Remaining balance―¥10,033,652.

Well, I still bought what I thought was necessary for me right now, so I had no regrets. Besides, I had also thought up countermeasures in case I ran out of money, so there was no problem.

I immediately equipped the [Perfect Ring].

My body felt lighter and stronger than that time I drank a [Power Potion C], and I noticed that my perception was heightened. With my five senses sharpened, I felt like I had been completely reborn.

It would be kind of dangerous for me to pull out my knives here, so I put that off for now. I also decided it would be better to store the [Accelerator Shoes] in the <Box> until it was time to go outside.

Upon taking a break, I found that the sun had already set without me noticing. It was already night time, so I took some ingredients out of the fridge and cooked some chilled Chinese noodles. But I soon became painfully aware that I needed to get used to controlling my strength. As I was cooking, I accidentally crushed some of the vegetables and kept stabbing the knife too deeply into the cutting board.
