Chapter 86 – Payback

Immediately after Kuzuhara Saito and everyone else made their way toward Ohsaka High School by car, Chake, who had been left home alone, began to take action. He was handed a certain something by Komon Shiina.

It was two sheets of paper, one of which had a map with directions on how to arrive at the destination. Chake listened to her and rushed towards that location—

“—Please!” Chake cried out, slamming open the door and making contact with the people inside, whom Komon told him to reach out to. He was at a family restaurant, which was also the headquarters of a certain group. This place naturally wasn’t being used for its original purpose anymore, but as it was spacious and easy to live in, it was currently being occupied as a base.

Seeing Chake suddenly burst in, the people inside were startled.

“Please! Let me speak with your leader! Right now!” Chake called out loudly with complete disregard for his image, knowing that time was of essence. But there was no mood for a welcome reception for Chake, who had barged in impolitely.

Everyone in there started to move to kick him out, except for one person.

“Well, hold on a sec. Let’s hear him out.”

A man with a conspicuously robust body build said, deciding to welcome Chake in.

“Could it be that you’re the leader, Otaka?!” (Chake)

“…! If you know my name, you must know who we are then?” (Otaka)

“Yeah. The Apostles of Peace, right?” (Chake)

The guys that were gathered here were none other than the dungeon-clearing group, the Apostles of Peace, which were renowned as being the saviors of the district.

“I was told to give you this by somebody!” Chake said, handing over the other piece of paper that Komon had given him.

Immediately after taking the paper and reading it, Otaka barked out, “…! Hey, guys! Make preparations for a dungeon attack right away!”

The men were naturally confused by the sudden order, but…

“We have a direct request from Enjou. We owe him a big debt. And if we take on this request, he said that he’s willing to give us a little bit of a discount at our next meeting.” (Otaka)

“Ooooh! Then let’s ask for some SMGs next time!”

“Who cares about that? We could get tanks!”

“No, no it would be better to get some more night-vision scopes so we can increase our night-time operations.”

The members of the Apostles of Peace cheered out enthusiastically. Seeing this sight, Chake was dumbfounded. Otaka gave Chake a smile and spoke to him.

“Sorry ’bout these guys. We’ve heard your request. It just happens that we’re free right now, too. Besides, we were planning to do something about Ryudou sooner or later.” (Otaka)

“You guys… You’ll really help out?” (Chake)

“Yeah. We gotta save your girlfriend as well, right?” (Otaka)

“….Yes, please!” (Chake)

Just like this, Chake was able to secure reliable allies. Immediately after finishing with their preparations, they set out for the Sifrur Love Hotel where Ryudou had set up base.

“―Breach!”

Posting units at the various entrances and exits of the love hotel, the Apostles of Peace raided the building all at once. Ryudou’s forces were even more shorthanded than normal, and they were instantly rendered powerless as the Apostles of Peace conquered floor after floor.

Chake also entered the building fully armed and began his search. He descended the stairs to the basement floor and went around taking out Ryudou’s subordinates posted in the area, opening every door as he went.

Within, he found women who had clearly been brutally assaulted and raped. With a pale face, Chake went around, looking closely at the faces of each woman.

“….She’s not… here…?” (Chake)

He found even more women within. They were huddling next to the wall, cowering and trembling. Among them was one person, which caused him to unconsciously drop his gun.

“…Sakura…?” (Chake)

“…Nari-kun…? Nari-kun, is that you…?”

“Sakuraaa!” (Chake)

“Nari-kuuun!” (Sakura)

The two ran towards each other and tightly embraced one another.

“Thank goodness… Thank goodness you’re safe…” (Chake)

“I believed… I just kept believing that you would come to save me, Nari-kun!” (Sakura)

At that point, the leader of the Apostles of Peace, Otaka, showed up.

“Everyone, please escape from here right away. We’ll escort you, so please hurry this way.” (Otaka)

“U-Umm… Who are you exactly?”

The one who asked that was a woman who seemed to be the eldest among them, and she seemed to possess a gentle demeanor about her.

“We are the Apostles of Peace. We came to rescue you all.” (Otaka)

“My… it looks like God really is watching. My name is Tanaka Sayuri. Thank you… Thank you so much.”

“I’m happy to find you all safe. Please come along quickly. Hey, I’m leaving these people to you guys!” (Otaka)

Otaka left his comrades to escort the woman away.

“You two over there… I understand you’re happy but you should hurry on your way, too.” (Otaka)

“…! S-Sorry! Sakura… let’s go.” (Chake)

“Yeah! Let’s go, Nari-kun!” (Sakura)

The two of them held hands as they made their way out together, fingers intertwining as if to say that they would never be apart ever again.

Ryudou and Kuzuhara stared in bewilderment at Chake, who had unraveled the mystery for them.

“Sorry, Saito-san… I’m really, really sorry.” (Chake)

“Chake… No, I understand your feelings. Thanks, man. Komon, you too. And Chake… I’m so glad that you’re still alive.” (Kuzuhara)

“Saito-san…!” (Komon)

Now that everything had been explained, I turned to the glaring Ryudou and spoke.

“―How is it? To misunderstand that everything was in the palm of your hands only for it to all fall apart?” (Komon)

“Everything, everything, everything! It was all your doing, womaaaaan!” (Ryudou)

“I am Komon Shiina. Before you die, you should at least remember my name.” (Komon)

Ryudou was directing an overbearingly condescending gaze at me, his face ripe with so much frustration and anger that it looked like the vein on his forehead would burst with rage.

Yeah, that’s right. That’s the face I wanted to see.

It felt refreshing, bringing a good-for-nothing scum who only knew how to corner people, hurt them, and kill them, from the heights of ecstasy right into the pits of despair. Especially now, when the scheme that Ryudou had spent years drawing up had failed right on the brink of fruition.

Towards me, the sole existence who destroyed all of his plans, he must be feeling an anger bubbling over within his chest like boiling lava.

“YOU FUCKING BITCH!!!” (Ryudou)

Completely unlike his sorry fleeing figure from before, Ryudou began to charge at me. But before he could reach me, Kuzuhara stood in the way.

“Move out of the way, Kuzuharaaaa!” (Ryudou)

“I told you. Your opponent is me.” (Kuzuhara)

Ryudou unleashed a kick with the momentum of his charge, but Kuzuhara blocked it with his left arm, then moved in along his outstretched leg and extended both of his palms towards Ryudou’s chest.

“―<Kuzuhara Wave Blast>!” (Kuzuhara)

“Gugghahaaa!!” (Ryudou)

Ryudou vomited a large mouthful of blood as he crumpled to his knees, then fell backward powerlessly, landing on his back. That was clearly a fatal blow just now. He wouldn’t be able to stand any longer.

“Gaaah… gaah…..” Ryudou glowered intensely at Kuzuhara.

“I… won’t… let things… end… like this….” (Ryudou)

“Saito-san, he’s a real stubborn guy, so shouldn’t you hurry up and finish him off?” (Chake)

Chake’s words revealed that he also wanted to hurry up and vanquish Ryudou from this world already. Ryudou had killed his friends and comrades, and he had even put his girlfriend in great danger.

“―Wait a second!”

At that moment, someone who I didn’t imagine would appear showed up.
