CH 155

Chapter 155 – New Familiar, Kaza

“Wow! So you are the boss here! I am most delighted to have been summoned as your Familiar! I will put forth my best efforts in serving you!”

“Y-Yeah…” (Bouchi)

He seemed like a pretty passionate, fired-up guy. Well, with how loyal Familiars were, I had no intention of doubting him, and I planned on accepting him no matter what he was like.

“Hey, you are in the presence of our lord. The wake of night is already upon us. Quiet down a bit.” (Shiki)

“Hm? Oh, are you perhaps another samurai serving our lord?”

“S-Samurai? No, this one is a ninja!” (Shiki)

“Oh-hoh. So you are a shinobi then. I am a proud samurai. I look forward to cooperating with you in the future!”

He held out three hands towards Shiki, but Shiki seemed to have a hard time deciding which one to shake.

“Ahem, if I may?” (Bouchi)

“Oh, my. Please forgive my impertinence, milord.”

“Don’t worry about it. I just want to make sure. You’re an A-Rank Kabuto Samurai, right?” (Bouchi)

“Of course. I am the protecting blade of milord. I will cut down all the enemies that stand in milord’s way. Wahaha!”

His personality was unlike any of the others so far, so I had a feeling he would get along easily with everyone else.

“Your name will be Kaza.” (Bouchi)

“Ooohh! It is an honor to so promptly be bestowed a name by milord! This is an irrepressible joy!” (Kaza)

“Good for you, Kaza. This one is Shiki. Together, we will devote ourselves to our lord’s protection.” (Shiki)

“Naturally! With the two of us by his side, our lord will soon be unrivaled under heaven! Wahahaha!” (Kaza)

The two shook hands and shared a smile. I felt like they were kindred spirits and that they would get along quite well.

But Kaza, I’m not really aiming to become unrivaled under heaven or anything like that though.

The next day, I gathered everyone on the island, including the monsters, to introduce Kaza, my new Familiar.

Everyone received him warmly, especially the other Familiars, who were happy to have another person by my side protecting me. In the midst of all this, Sol and Yofel were eyeing him.

“Puuu! I want to try fighting Kaza!” (Sol)

But which of them should fight first…?

As I was wondering about that, Kaza made a surprising remark.

“I will take on the two of you at once.” (Kaza)

““?!””

All of a sudden, Sol and Yofel’s will to fight skyrocketed, as if they were angered by his words.

Both Sol and Yofel had been trying their best to increase their strength for a long time. The experience in combat they had gained so far was no fluke.

Even though Kaza was A-Rank, I felt like it would be a bit much for him to take the two of them on at the same time. However, the bold smile on Kaza’s face didn’t crumble. A tremendous aura surged out of him, seeming to declare his intent to win against Sol and Yofel at all costs.

“…Alright. Then both parties, please step away from each other.” (Bouchi)

Serving as the judge, I had them take a certain distance from each other at the start. The rest of the onlookers were watching from the side, well out of the way so that they didn’t interfere. The Black Ogre seemed to want to join in as well, but… hey, wait, aren’t there way too many battle junkies on this island?

“Ready—begin!” (Bouchi)

As soon as I gave the signal, Sol immediately leveraged her speed to get behind Kaza and launched a surprise attack from the rear. She tried to pierce down like a spiraling bullet, but…

—Kyiiiiiin!

Surprisingly, Kaza didn’t move an inch. It wasn’t that he couldn’t read Sol’s movements. He had certainly shown signs of having noticed her. Despite that, he still didn’t take any evasive actions.

He was hit squarely in the back by Sol’s strike, but the sound that rang out was like two pieces of steel colliding. Sol’s attack didn’t even cause Kaza’s face to contort in pain.

“Unfortunately, my body is like that of steel.” (Kaza)

“Puuuuu?! Then take this!” (Sol)

There it is. Sol’s signature fireball move. But even then, Kaza didn’t move whatsoever. He was engulfed in the flames, causing the monsters to stir excitedly.

But when the flames faded away, Kaza emerged completely unharmed.

“Wahahaha! I must say, that is quite the comfortable temperature.” (Kaza)

“N-No way…!?” (Sol)

Sol was shocked that he didn’t suffer a single scalding injury. But at that moment, an arrow came flying from Kaza’s blind spot.

“Hm?” (Kaza)

He turned his body slightly, avoiding the arrow.

“Umu. You have skill. And that bow… it is quite the work of art.” (Kaza)

His resistances and judgment were incredible. With a single glance, Kaza could tell that he had to avoid that arrow.

The [Azure Illusion Bow] that I had given Yofel had the strength to inflict damage even to an S-Rank opponent. As a result, even Kaza couldn’t afford to not take it seriously.

However, his sharp judgment caused a rivulet of sweat to drip down Yofel’s brow.

She must have thought that she could catch him off guard. She seemed to have been underestimating him, and that attack just now was to test him. And yet, he dodged it with certainty, by a long margin.

This meant that Kaza was capable of accurately analyzing Sol and Yofel’s true strength. To top things off, he even said that it would be no problem for both of them to attack him at the same time.

In other words, there was just that much of a gap in ability.
