Chapter 21 Outcome

"Papa!"

Ren Ye was woken by a childish cry, he shifted slightly in his sleep and turned to his side; gradually opening his eyes tiredly. He yawned and sat up, turning his head to the source of the noise.

The little girl crouched down and looked up at him with sadness-filled eyes, holding a pencil in her right hand. She looked as though she was about to burst into tears, tightly gripping her pajamas.

"What's the matter?" Ren Ye asked with surprise on his face.

The little girl stretched out the pencil in her hand and glanced at him with a tearful expression, "Jia'er accidentally broke the pencil."

'Hopefully, Papa isn't angry that Jia'er woke Papa up early in the morning,' Ren Jia thought inside her head with distress.

Ren Ye lowered his head and stared at her with indifference, watching her with inquiring eyes.

Instead of losing his temper at the little girl for waking him up, Ren Ye nodded his head and hummed. He gradually walked up to the girl, crouching down, and took the pencil; observing the pencil carefully.

"Did you break the tip?"

Ren Jia lowered her head with a sad expression, "Yes…"

"Alright, don't worry too much."

"We'll pass by a stationary today and get you a new one," Ren Ye gave the little girl a comforting smile, patting her head gently.

The little girl ran toward his arms and wrapped her arms around his neck, pressing her tiny face against his cheeks, "Thank you, Papa."

The little girl pressed her tiny petal lips against his cheeks, pecking him. Ren Ye felt his tired body had been restored to its full form as his eyes softened from the kiss.

"Why is it that you always wake up early?"

"Jia'er draws best in the morning!"

"If Papa doesn't like it then Jia'er can stop," She continued with eyes filled with shyness; waiting for a response from her Papa.

Ren Ye shook his head and chuckled, "It is alright but I don't mind being woken up because of something like this."

'Rather, I am happy to see she is comfortable being with me…'

"Get ready, we'll go out today and explore the city," Ren Ye gave her a soft smile.

-

Ren Ye tied her hair into a ponytail after giving her a bath, he flicked her temple and gradually got himself dressed in casual attire; a brown t-shirt and black shorts.

As they were dressing up, Ren Ye noticed Ren Jia was struggling to tie her shoes. The little girl lowered her head and hid her nervous look as she tied them the wrong way, Ren Ye snorted lightly.

He crouched down and assisted her in tying her shoes, much to the appreciation of Ren Jia.

It appeared he was getting accustomed to serving his daughter's needs.

'I have to say,' Old Yi woke up from his nap and chuckled with a hoarse voice, "You are becoming a good father, I am impressed."

Ren Ye ignored his compliments, 'What can I do? It is my responsibility.'

'I don't want to be like my father, who had abandoned his wife and son, because he was unable to accept that he was in the wrong,' He sneered inwardly.

'I don't think I will be able to keep my anger from erupting if I ever see him again. Knowing him, I'm afraid Jinghua would have gone through seven stages of hell because of having to bear with him.'

Ren Ye lowered his cold eyes and clenched his teeth, 'I won't allow my daughter to go through what Jinghua and I had gone through because of him.'

Old Yi let out a bitter laugh, 'I'm surprised your mother seemed to love your father very much; at least that's how I see it.'

'She does love him but his personality makes it hard for them to get along,' Ren Ye sighed and continued, 'I must say I was initially glad he went away.'

'But after seeing my mother's struggles throughout the years, I can't say I feel the same…'

Old Yi nodded his head and acknowledged, 'Your dad will reap what he sows.'

'Also your daughter loves you very much, don't be like that father of yours. You may be blessed with a lifetime of love if you manage to get her affection.'

"Papa!"

Ren Ye lifted his head and cast his icy eyes onto her body, his eyes immediately softened after seeing her, "Hmm?"

The little girl was wearing a pink flowery dress as she glanced at him with her shiny eyes, appearing curious.

"Where will we go?"

She swung one of her short legs back and forth as she shot him a pretty smile, pulling his hand gently.

"We need to go get breakfast first," Ren Ye spoke calmly and patted her head; patting her head had become a habit of his whenever he sees his daughter is adorable.

"After that?" She glanced at him with her glossy eyes filled with thoughtfulness and hope.

"After that, we go get Ice cream and to the stationary," Ren Ye coughed awkwardly.

He hadn't been able to fulfill her wishes yet but he hopes to do so this week; that is by taking her to an amusement park!

"Yay! Papa is the best!"

The little girl giggled in joy, "Let's go, Papa!"

"Wait, I need to do something," Ren Ye patted her head and went into the bathroom.

He took care of his needs and washed his hands. After drying his hand with a towel, he activated the system and opened the system's tab.

[Inventory]

Ren Ye recalled having something in his inventory that he hadn't been able to check yet, the additional reward he had gotten after moving here.

[Beikang Special Manual]

[Item Details: Beikang Special Manual gifts the user with a comprehension of the city's system! Allowing the user to travel around the city without getting lost.]

Ren Ye pressed [Use] and suddenly, he saw a yellow string of light emerge from the screen and thrust itself into his temple.

At that moment, Ren Ye felt a burst of knowledge jamming its way into his mind; enveloping him in warm energy.

After a couple of seconds, he eventually returned to normal and returned to where the little girl was and glanced toward Ren Jia, "I know a place where they sell the best pancakes."

-

Ren Ye lifted her and bought her into his arms, casually walking along the pavements whilst carrying the little girl; he noticed the differences between Jindao and Beikang.

The neighborhood he was living in was called Yang Street, a neighborhood mostly consisting of middle-class men and a few upper-class men. It provided a considerable amount of security, therefore, making it a valuable piece of land.

The buildings as well as the streets were much more modernized and organized.

He made his way through the neighborhood and onto the main street without the need for a digital map, getting close to his destination which was on the left side of the street. Old Yi had also detached himself from Ren Ye's body and began conversing with Ren Jia about useless things.

After ten minutes of walking, he arrived at his destination. The restaurant appeared out of place as it retained its old structure, giving off old vibes. There were many people waiting outside of the restaurant.

He went inside the restaurant. The restaurant was filled with people as a man donning a brown apron came approaching him with a pleasant smile.

The man emitted a warm and welcoming aura as his eyes shone with joy upon seeing them enter.

"Good morning, sir. Are you here to takeaways or dine inside?" The man with the apron spoke with a soft and gentle tone.

"Dine inside," Ren Ye replied with emotionless eyes.

The man nodded his head and led him inside the restaurant. As he was guided by the man, the smell of cigarettes wafted into his nose and Ren Jia's nose. He immediately frowned and lifted his hand to pinch Ren Jia's nose; the little girl's nose bobbed slightly.

They sat down at a round table, the man offered them a menu. Ren Ye glanced at the menu and ordered the signature pancakes of the place. He glanced toward Old Yi and Ren Jia, "What do you want?"

"I'll have the pancakes," Old Yi smiled widely, "I heard pancakes with honey taste heavenly, do bring along the honey if you have some."

Ren Ye looked at the little girl who replied back with a shy grin, "Whatever Papa is eating!"

He nodded his head and glanced toward the waiter, "Another plate of pancakes."

"Three plates?" The waiter wrote in his notebooks and asked them for assurance.

"And honey!" Old Yi exclaimed loudly.

The waiter went away as Ren Ye looked toward Old Yi with inquiring eyes, "I have a bunch of questions I wanted to ask from last night."

Old Yi poured hot tea into a small cup and snorted, "What is it?"

"If you hadn't intruded inside my dream, what would have happened?"

Old Yi took a sip of the hot tea and furrowed his eyebrows with a serious expression, "If I hadn't, you would have stayed inside that dream forever. That's the case for many failed cultivators…"
