Chapter 83 Double Danger

Ren Ye's eyes glimmered with a cold glint before resolving into a much calmer state of mind. He curled his lips into a confident smirk and raised the gun toward them.

"Do you wish for me to end you here?"

Their lips quivered in fear as one of them came forth in a heavily-equipped backpack with a slightly nerdy undertone on his face, "We are sorry."

He kneeled on the ground and started bowing his head toward Ren Ye, "Please let us go."

After he said this, all of the remaining people dropped down to their knees and started begging for their lives. Ren Ye slightly snorted with a bored expression,

"Lame. I don't plan on letting any of you go."

As he finished, he teleported himself onto a nearby tree whilst watching them intently, he opened his mouth and said loudly.

"I will let you off."

He made a shushing gesture with his finger, "You have to listen to what I tell you to do."

They immediately started nodding their heads, not caring about what he will say. They were more worried about their own lives than his words, Ren Ye's smile widened.

"Turn your backs to me," Ren Ye raised his gun and threatened to shoot them.

They hesitated but eventually conformed after seeing the dangerous glint in their eyes, thinking inside their hearts with regret and distress.

"There is no way this madman will let us go easily!"

Ren Ye swiped his eyes to his left before breaking into a fit of laughter, tears started brimming due to his laughs, "Don't be afraid."

His words meant if you dare turn around, I will shoot you.

"Remember my face whenever you think of HeWuan Forest. Remember my figure whenever you think of a warrior. Most importantly, remember my eyes whenever you think of kindness."

Ren Ye said almost soothing their fears, causing them to slightly relax before they started tensing again after he chuckled loudly.

"Raise your feet and take a step forward," Ren Ye put his finger against his lips, whispering in a soft gentle tone, "Run."

After he said that, he raised his revolver over his head and pulled the trigger two times. The sound produced by the revolver caused the sky to fall and the ground to shake.

This meant the group of adventurers had nothing to do but run, run for their lives.

A survival instinct jumped out of their heart and rushed into their brains, causing them to run without looking back. They dropped all of their heavy stuff on the soil as they did not matter to them any longer compared to their own lives.

Ren Ye didn't believe they will make it out of there alive, "To your left."

He ordered as he took out a needle and pricked the skin of one person, causing tears to dramatically roll down their face.

"Don't kill me please," He had cried so hard that his teammates started to divert their direction to another.

Ren Ye pulled the trigger and shot the tree in front of them, causing them to flee from it as quickly as possible.

Ren Ye eventually stopped after realizing they were already close to the exit, he placed his revolver back into his pocket and adjusted his spectacles. Just now, it felt like he was rearing animals and commanding them to meet his needs.

It felt extremely inhumane.

He chuckled deeply, whilst retaining the gentleness of his eyes, "I do not fit the stereotype of a former soldier who is willing to put the peoples' safety first at the expense of their own mental health."

Ren Ye spoke sarcastically.

"Why did you say that?" Old Yi chimed in and started chortling.

"What did I say?" Ren Ye's eyebrow was raised with intrigue.

"Remember my face whenever you think of HeWuan Forest. Remember my figure whenever you think of a warrior. Most importantly, remember my eyes whenever you think of kindness," Old Yi repeated in an amused tone, "Mmm…"

"I don't know," Ren Ye shrugged indifferently, "It felt like something Rein Lang would say. At least, he was a lot more confident than I was."

Old Yi continued to chuckle, "It did give me a sense that you weren't entirely acting the whole time, were you?"

"No. Perhaps not."

Ren Ye frowned and teleported to where the group of reckless adventurers, he stumbled upon a heartwarming scene of them embracing each other in one big hug with tears rolling down their eyes outside the dooms of HeWuan Forest.

He no longer needed to guide them but continued to stay there for a rather long time before one of them noticed him and pointed his finger at him. Ren Ye leaned his body against the tree with a knowing smirk on his face.

"Don't be stupid," Ren Ye mumbled under his breath before he turned his back on them and traveled back to the place where he had slain the beasts.

He landed next to one of the bodies of the wolves, he inspected it.

Like in those werewolf movies he had seen in the cinema with his father as a kid, he felt the appearance of this wolf was extremely exaggerated with extremely sharp and bulging teeth, enough to bite through the strongest of bones.

He used his fingers to open his eyes and discovered that not only were they not red but they were black in color. Upon discovering this, he didn't panic nor break out in sweats.

"Mm. A possessed demon," Ren Ye remarked before placing his hands on the body and started caressing it, feeling the softness of the fur.

Ren Ye was dressed in a black formal double-chested suit, he was wearing black gloves and wore spectacles, giving him an extremely sophisticated appearance.

He chuckled deeply, "I feel it would be good to turn this into a winter jacket to keep warm."

Ren Ye pulled out a knife from his knees and started skinning the beast, he did it with all of them and placed them into his inventory as he didn't want people to discover him carrying a batch of wolf fur back home.

The laws in HeWuan worked entirely differently from other conserved forests due to their danger. Him killing a couple of human-eating beasts wouldn't have made much of a difference as there were too many monsters laying dormant.

HeWuan wasn't located in or near Beikang or in any city. It was located the furthest away from humans as any traces of humans could leave the horrors of HeWuan longing to have a taste.

They were guarded by skilled partitioners and cultivators who didn't dare to come in themselves. They were assigned to protect the borders but that did not stop humans from having curiosity get the best of them.

Ren Ye sneaked into the forest due to his Teleportation without coming under the radar or suspicion. Even if he were, they wouldn't come to catch him as it was better to let one person die than a dozen of them.

"Such a special place but yet so desolate," Ren Ye suddenly said as he cleaned the blood off his knife and washed his hands along the cold stream of water.

Ren Ye looked at the time on his antique watch and started lamenting, "It is already afternoon."

Ren Ye didn't do anything all day and it was already half a day, he felt extremely tired and wanted to take a nap. Perhaps, it had been the trees that were numerous emitting wondrous oxygen or the calmness he had after saving a group of reckless people.

He felt his eyes drooping.

"Don't fall asleep," Old Yi called out loudly inside his head, Ren Ye was startled and almost jumped.

"It is too dangerous to sleep here."

Ren Ye nodded his head but his eyes still remained drooping, "Why does it feel extremely calm and peaceful here?"

Old Yi didn't reply.

Ren Ye laid his head against the tree and started singing silently with his eyes constantly closing and opening, "Twinkle…twinkle…little…star."

Before long, he fell into a deep slumber under the watchful gaze of eight pupils.

-

This smell…

Rotting and pungent…

Where does it emit such a foul odor?

Ren Ye subconsciously sensed a feeling of suffocation from his legs and his arms being pressed against each other tightly. He tried to move but was unable to move no matter how hard he tried.

He immediately opened his eyes and realized there was a silk-like curtain blocking his vision, he took in a deep breath and tried to move his arms.

He couldn't.

He tried to kick but his legs were all too tightly pressed against one another that there was no space left for him.

He felt suffocation in his chest.

"Where am I?"

Ren Ye said inwardly but there was not a single sound from inside his head, "Old Yi?"

 Thud! Thud!

Ren Ye overheard the sound of silent footsteps.

Footsteps? Why did it sound like there were more than one pair of legs? No, it sounded like there was four pair of leg but why did it sound so light if it wasn't for Ren Ye's good sense of hearing, he wouldn't have noticed.

Ren Ye suddenly felt a creeping fear on the side of his neck as something seemed to extend from his left side and covered his body.

"Sh*t!"
