Chapter 92 Forceful Probing

Standing in front of a busy hospital whose front entrance was filled with patients of every age waiting to get their doctor's appointment, Ren Ye was dressed in a completely different outfit.

In order to integrate himself with other people, he transformed himself into Qi Yun's form as his entire body was covered in an extremely casual body suit that displayed his commoner status.

His face were gentle and calm as he watched the patients before him stare at him with strange and curious gazes. Instead of being embarrassed, he nodded his head and curled his lips into a tender smile.

He went up to the front and calmly spoke with a casual expression, "I wish to meet Kang Fan and his family."

The working nurse suddenly raised her eyebrows and stared him with unconcealed curiosity and somewhat defensive eyes, "Who must you be?"

"I am an assignee from another family," His eyes curled up with confidence as he extended the visit card to front desk, the nurse took the card and caught a glimpse of it before she quickly gave it back to him.

Her curious face was replaced with that of someone who had just seen a ghost, ghastly pale and slightly fearful.

"We will inform beforehand on your behalf," She respectfully said before she added, "They have specially asked us to guard their identity but since you were sent by that family, we can hope they will be open to whatever you wish to ask of them."

Ren Ye casually nodded and sat on an empty chair, waiting for their answer. Before long, the nurse quickly came by and waved her hands at him, "Sir, they have requested you."

Ren Ye felt the tension inside his bones as he heaved a sigh while looking for Old Yi, "I wonder what will their reaction be if they discover that their son's missing remain is in my hands."

They would either be shocked or straight up accuse him of being the one orchestrating the accident considering the 'age' he was in. Qi Yun was and looked to be in his mid-40s but the young boy died before that, he could only hope they would see it through and not accuse him of being the murderer.

"They will likely think you are the murderer," Old Yi chuckled deeply before rubbing his chin, "There is another way to convince them that you are not."

"Mm?"

"When you start the conversation, you should consider attempting to divert the attention on you to his second wife. Only if she is here, of course. Observe her publicly before bombarding her with personal questions that breaks her out of her cocoon."

Ren Ye didn't know whether to laugh or cry as he remarked, "You seem to be knowledgeable in this sense than I am."

"How much secrets have you gotten from this trick alone?"

"Lots. A lot more than I would expect to gain in a lifetime," Old Yi replied seriously, "Committing a murder can only be considered by someone who is internally vile but to keep a secret, they need to be mentally strong."

"Believe me. At this age, she have thought of admitting to it or at least the thoughts crossed her mind every once in a while. Living a fake life at the expense of someone's life will wear her out."

"That is not the case," Ren Ye politely refuted, "I know more than enough people who have committed heinous crimes, living their best lives and lavishing themselves in gold."

He was specifically referring to the nobility in his past. They built a corrupted system that only benefited themselves and placed themselves atop a structure while millions of people suffer from famine and hunger due to them.

He had visited their mansions and gardens that spanned for hundred of miles, all he could see was a content smile on their face. There were not a sense of guilt on their faces whatsoever. This made him even more resentful of the system, vowing to burn them into ashes.

"Indeed," Old Yi nodded his head, "It depends on her character as a whole."

The nurse in front of him knocked the door two times before saying respectfully, "Your Excellency, your requested guest is waiting outside."

Ren Ye lowered his head as he overheard an elderly woman's silent commanding voice, "Come in."

"It appears she is here," Ren Ye informed Old Yi quickly, who swiftly responded, "Good, I guess she must have been by his side for many years. What a show she is putting on."

Old Yi chuckled as Ren Ye went inside the room. The smell of medicine and alcohol wafted into his nose as he saw an elderly woman seated beside the bed.

In front of him was an extremely skinny and pale man on the bed, he was breathing through the oxygen tank. The room was well-decorated as what it appears to be superstitious paintings.

What Ren Ye noticed was that the elderly man in front of him was looking at him with tearful eyes as though he had never seen a guest coming to visit him before.

Ren Ye didn't forget his manners as he bowed his upper body and curled his lips into a polite smile, "Hello, my name is Qi Yun."

"I was assigned by the Jing Family to ask of your well-being, Your Excellency."

The elderly woman was dressed in an intricate coral light-colored dress, signifying her not so ordinary status, she wore somewhat extravagant jewelleries on her body as she indifferently nodded to him.

"It is quite surprising the Jing Family would send someone else to come instead of their beloved jewel," The elderly woman whose expression were as flamboyant as when she was in her youth.

It was a well-known fact that her son, the current Patriarch of the Kang Family, has been trying to chase their beloved granddaughter for many years. No wonder, Jing Xue has a considerate amount of knowledge of them.

Ren Ye wasn't as jealous as he thought he would be. Instead, he curled his lips into a soft smile, "Young Miss is too busy filming. We are sorry that it had not been she who has come."

Ren Ye addressed Jing Xue as how a middle-aged would address her. Remembering that he was in Qi Yun's form, he had to be thoughtful of what he is going to say in order not to expose his identity to them.

"I didn't expect they would send a man like you to us," She casually looked him up and down with a somewhat mocking tone, her eyes were filled with unconcealed arrogance.

Ren Ye's eyebrows twitched as the urge to expose right on the spot was overwhelming. It is no wonder that a woman like her who killed to be at top and to remain there permanently by ushering her son to the status of Patriarch would be shocked that a powerful family would send a savage-looking man to pay their respect to her.

"I apologize in advance if my very presence offended, Madam," Ren Ye bowed his head respectfully, "It is a accumalation of my time at the military."

"Mm? You have served?" She was intrigued.

"Yes, you can say I spent half of my life stationed at a base for many years before returning recently," His eyes were filled with gentleness and nostalgia as he pretended to recall his time training as a soldier.

"Mm. You have more than I expected," Xuan Jie expressed her surprise as she added, "Then our Kang Family would not need to be offended by such manner."

Ren Ye swore he wanted to wipe the smirk off her face. As soon as he opened his mouth to say something, Kang Fan whose eyes were closed suddenly coughed.

Xuan Jie was slightly startled as she turned to look at him with a strange expression, "He wants to know what you have come here for."

Ren Ye lowered his face, hiding his expression from them. He spoke quietly but loud enough for Kang Fan to hear him, "I seek an audience with the former Patriarch of the Kang Family."

"Regarding the issues of what happened sixty years ago," His eyes gleamed with coldness.

After having said this, Kang Fan coughed even harder and his heart rate were rising at an extremely high rate. Tears were formed at the corner of his eyes as he looked at Ren Ye with an almost devastated expression.

"You.." Kang Fan said hoarsely as he breathed heavily.

Xuan Jie's expression turned dark as she turned her head to glare at Rein Ye in a threatening manner, "It is best if you don't mention this matter to him. Allow him to sleep in peace without his losses burdening him in his last breath."

She was defensive.

Ren Ye enjoyed this very much as he continued to add fuel to the fire, "Madam, you don't have the right to command what I will say here considering your actions."

This time, it was Ren Ye who looked down on her with disdain, considering her a thing that was dirty and lowly.

"Whether you call the guards to chase me away or not, your husband deserves to know what exactly happened on that night sixty years ago."

Xuan Jie's face became black as her eyes were filled with raging fire, wanting to shut his mouth.
