Chapter 360 - 360 The Imprisoned Man

360 The Imprisoned Man

Shen Fei raised his eyebrows slightly when he saw that it was unharmed; he did not expect this Fire Wolf’s to be as tough as a Count-rank spirit beast.

Aloy jumped up excitedly and cheered when she saw Shen Fei repel the wolf, “Yeah! You’re so cool!”

Shen Fei’s mouth twitched as he looked at how excited Aloy seemed. “Aren’t you going to catch the Ice Spirit Rabbit?”

Aloy pouted. “Forget it, I want to watch. I also want a fire-attribute spirit beast.”

Looking at her miffed expression, Shen Fei shrugged helplessly. “Since you think it’s not suitable, let’s change locations and look elsewhere,” he said.

“Okay.” Aloy nodded obediently.

Shen Fei looked around, and his gaze suddenly fell on a metal cage in a corner.

A man was sitting in the iron cage, shivering. He was wearing a blue robe and looked older than Shen Fei. His hands and legs were bound by chains, and his face was filled with fear.

Shen Fei frowned as he looked at the man. “Why would someone be locked up in such a place?”

Aloy shook her head. “I don’t know. Maybe he’s a criminal?”

“Let’s go take a look.” Shen Fei pulled Aloy and walked slowly toward the iron cage.

As Shen Fei and Aloy approached, the prisoner slowly raised his head.

When he saw the strangers, the man quickly asked for help, “You… Save me!”

Shen Fei and Aloy looked at each other and communicated with their eyes.

‘What was going on?’

‘Could it be a prisoner who had committed a serious crime?’

The man continued to plead when he saw that Shen Fei did not speak, “Save me, I don’t want to die!”

His lips were dry and cracked from thirst, and his cheeks were pale and haggard. Seeing his pitiful appearance, Shen Fei’s heart softened. “What did you do to get caught?”

The man looked at Shen Fei and Aloy, and lowered his head hesitantly. “I can’t say. I can’t say. If I say it, I have to die!”

Seeing the determination in the man’s eyes, Shen Fei and Aloy looked at each other and finally relented.

“If you can save me, I’ll owe you a debt of gratitude. In the future, no matter what it is, I’ll do anything for you.” The man looked at Shen Fei pleadingly.

When Shen Fei heard this, he raised his eyebrows. “Really?”

The man nodded. “A man keeps his word!”

Shen Fei pondered for a moment before speaking, “Since the school locked you up with the spirit beasts, it can only mean that you made a mistake.”

At the mention of his predicament, the man could not help but curse, and his eyes filled with killing intent, “I was framed! Those bastards deliberately framed me, so they locked me up.”

“Framed?” Shen Fei asked dubiously. Who had framed him?

“I’ve been wronged. You must save me.”

Hearing this, Shen Fei’s eyes darkened. There was something fishy about this matter.

“Tell us what happened, then I’ll consider letting you go,” Shen Fei said.

The man looked at him, then gritted his teeth and said, “Those b*stards framed me on purpose. They told me to catch a high rank exotic beast. I didn’t agree, so they locked me up and tortured me. They didn’t allow me to eat or drink, and they even locked me in an iron cage.

“I was weak to begin with, so I couldn’t win at all. That’s why they set me up and framed me. They took the opportunity to sentence me to death and stole my property.”

‘So that’s how it is!’

“Let’s go. We’ll go somewhere else to choose a spirit beast,” Aloy said. She pulled Shen Fei with her and left.

Since someone had framed this man, they should not let him out lest they make more enemies. As for what he said, she definitely did not believe it.

Along the way, Aloy looked at Shen Fei worriedly. “Shen Fei, that person is lying.”

She believed that there was no way such atrocious deeds could really happen in this world.

“I think so, too.” Shen Fei smiled. Only a fool would believe such a story.

“Then what should we do?” Aloy blinked.

Shen Fei rubbed his nose and said, “We’ll cross that bridge when we get there.”

Aloy nodded in agreement. “Okay.”

“But I’m quite curious about his identity. For the academy to be so strict with him, his background must be very complicated.”

Shen Fei gazed thoughtfully into the distance. ‘This man is more than he seems.’

“Why do you care so much?” Aloy pouted.

“Didn’t you notice that he had the smell of a Beastkin? He just wasn’t in his transformed state.”

“A Beastkin?” At the mention of this term, Aloy’s interest was piqued.

Shen Fei glanced at Aloy and casually explained, “The ancestors of the Beastkin were not ordinary humans; they had the intelligence of wild beasts.”

Aloy’s eyes widened in surprise. “Can Beastkin also turn into humans?”

“Of course, it is said that the reproductive ability of the Beastkin is very strong. After thousands of years, the Beastkin learned to cultivate and freely transform between their human and beast forms.”

Aloy suddenly understood. Then, she asked, “Why did the Beastkin turn into humans?”

“I heard that their ancestors were cursed, so they could only survive in their half-beast form before they learned to cultivate,” Shen Fei said indifferently.

“Cursed?” Aloy was puzzled.

Shen Fei nodded. “Yes, it’s said that for the sake of war, the leader of the beast race led the Beastkin to exterminate the humans. Your uncle, Lear, is also a Beastkin. Do you know his whereabouts?”

The last he heard of Lear was that the man was locked up. He should have already escaped.

“You mean he’s still alive?” Aloy covered her mouth in shock.

Shen Fei said, “Yes, Lear is in the dark, and we are in the light. Perhaps he’s watching my every move even now.”

Lear had no qualms about attacking Shen Fei in broad daylight.

“Then what should we do?” Aloy asked nervously.

“Wait.”

“Wait? Wait for what?” Aloy blinked.

“Wait for him to appear,” Shen Fei said calmly.

“How long should we wait? What if he doesn’t appear?” Aloy pouted.

“If he doesn’t show up, we’ll find him ourselves. He probably doesn’t want others to know about him and the Beastkin, otherwise he would have revealed it long ago. We just need to wait patiently.”

“Alright.” Aloy frowned. Lear was a terrifying existence in her heart. If they really met, he would definitely not let past grudges go.

Shen Fei saw the fear in Aloy’s eyes and said, “Don’t be afraid. I’m here. I won’t let him hurt you.”

“I know.” Aloy nodded vigorously. Of course, she believed that Shen Fei would not let anything happen to her.

Shen Fei patted her shoulder and comforted her.

“Shen Fei.” Aloy looked up at Shen Fei.

“Hmm?”

“You’re so good to me.” Aloy giggled as she hugged Shen Fei’s arm.
