Chapter 21: Nautical Survival 21

Sun Caiyan’s scream attracted all the zombies in the ship’s cabin. The horde of zombies crowded towards the stairway entrance. With their dark claws, oozing wounds, twitching nasal muscles, and constantly colliding gums, they showed their desire for human flesh.

Sun Caiyan trembled in fear. She deeply regretted the decision she had made.

She shouldn’t have followed Fu Anan!

Even if staying in the ventilation duct would eventually lead to an encounter with the people in the kitchen, they were at least still human! What kind of madness had possessed her to listen to Fu Anan’s nonsense?

“Sun Caiyan, let go of me and hold back the zombies below while I break open the door.”

Fu Anan focused on the door. She didn’t notice the change in Sun Caiyan’s gaze behind her.

*clang*

The door swung open from the outside.

It was as if a divine being had reached out a helping hand at Fu Anan.

She knew it! Her good luck had always been there!

“Sun Caiyan.” Just as Fu Anan reached out to pull her, she suddenly felt a force pull her backwards.

Fu Anan’s eyes widened as she watched Sun Caiyan run past her. She felt the sharp nails of the zombie scraping against her back!

Damn you, Sun Caiyan!

Just as Fu Anan thought she was done for, a hand reached out from outside the door and grabbed her, followed by the sound of a silencer gun.

The next moment, Fu Anan was pulled outside the door.

Fu An'an quickly reacted. Together with the person next to her, they closed the door tightly and barricaded it with heavy objects.

After completing all of this, Fu Anan sat down. She felt a sense of relief as if she had survived a disaster.

Taking a few deep breaths, she stood up. With a kitchen knife in hand, Fu Anan slowly approached Sun Caiyan.

Sun Caiyan’s face changed as she watched Fu Anan’s actions, “Anan, listen to me. Let me explain. It was just a misunderstanding.”

“To hell with misunderstanding!” Fu Anan put her foot on Sun Caiyan, “I saved you, gave you water to drink, and you tried to betray me! You tried to pull me down as fodder to the zombies!”

“It’s not like that! I was just too… too nervous at that time.” Sun Caiyan vigorously shook her head, “Listen to my explanation, it wasn’t intentional!”

Fu Anan swung her kitchen knife, cutting past her neck, “You should be grateful that I’m a law-abiding citizen, or else I would have chopped you! Don’t ever show up in front of me again. Get lost!”

Sun Caiyan trembled in fear. She looked at the man standing on the side.

“What? Do you think I’m joking with you?” Fu Anan’s kitchen knife made a sharp sound as it pierced through Sun Caiyan’s backpack.

Sun Caiyan screamed in surprise. She didn’t expect Fu Anan to turn on her so quickly. Since everything was already out in the open, this person was of no use to her anymore.

Sun Caiyan picked up the items that had fallen from her backpack and quickly disappeared from Fu Anan's sight.

——

“Thank you ah.”

After Sun Caiyan disappeared from her sight, Fu Anan turned around and thanked the person beside her. Only now did she realize that it was Master Fu from the kitchen.

“Your words are right. This game truly emphasizes the saying ‘one may know a person for a while without understanding their true nature[1]’.”

“Weren’t you quite brave and confident just now?” Fu Yizhi gave her a side glance, “You don’t seem like someone who’s only playing for the first time.”

With that said, Fu Anan awkwardly rubbed her nose and asked, “Excuse me, where is the restroom.”

A strong urge to urinate had actually been building up since they were being chased by the zombies. That feeling had now reached an overwhelming and unstoppable level.

Fu Yizhi was taken aback by her question. He casually pointed towards a small shed nearby, “Over there.”

“Thank you!” Fu Anan hurriedly trotted in that direction.

……Success.

——

On the upper deck, there was only one small room available for accommodation. Fu Yizhi had already occupied it one step ahead, so Fu Anan could only find a new place to settle down.

Her new choice was a stack of shipping containers.

The highest position among the stacked containers seemed easy to defend. Fu Anan felt that she made a great decision.

“Can I borrow your ladder?”

Fu Anan looked at Fu Yizhi. Specifically, she looked at the wooden ladder placed horizontally behind him.

Fu Yizhi glanced at the ladder and replied, “Go ahead.”
