Chapter 22 Hunter and Prey
Just as Carlisle began looking for a restaurant, he could clearly feel Taylor approaching him. He could even feel Taylor’s gradually rapid breathing.
Now, Taylor pursed her lips when she saw Carlisle’s empty right hand. After hesitating momentarily, she finally decided to give her little hand to him and held Carlisle’s fingertips shyly.
Carlisle only smiled at this and did not resist.
Seeing that Carlisle did not show any disgust, Taylor was relieved. She was just afraid that she was advancing too quickly.
But she couldn’t help it. Carlisle was such an outstanding man. If she didn’t take the initiative to seize the opportunity, she might miss it. This was something she couldn’t accept.
But she had gambled correctly as it seemed that Carlisle also had designs on her.

Carlisle asked for a private room. As soon as he sat down, Taylor’s phone rang, but Taylor only glanced at it before hanging up.
However, right after she hung up, the phone rang again. This time, Taylor hung up without looking.
“It’s Ross, right?” Carlisle said casually. “Senior, don’t misunderstand. Ross and I are just ordinary friends. He’s been badgering me. I’ve rejected him countless times, but he still won’t give up.” Worried that Carlisle would misunderstand, Taylor quickly explained. “What’s there to misunderstand?” Carlisle couldn’t help but laugh.
Taylor was instantly embarrassed. That’s right, she had nothing to do with Carlisle. What misunderstanding was there? Wasn’t this exposing her intentions?!
However, Carlisle did not mind. Instead, he asked, “I see that Ross treats you very well. Did you even consider it?”
Taylor thought for a moment and responded, “Frankly, I think of myself as a gold digger. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that. I just want to pursue a better life. Ross can’t give me the life I want. He will never be my choice. He’s not even worthy of being my spare tire. It might be a little cruel to say this, but this is reality.”
Hearing Taylor’s answer, Carlisle was stunned. For a moment, Carlisle seemed to see Wendy in Taylor. The two of them were extremely materialistic.
However, the biggest difference between the two of them was that Taylor didn’t try to hide it at all.
Wendy, on the other hand, was the kind of person who had to put up a front even though she was a whore. She was clearly greedy for vanity, but she still had to pretend to be innocent in front of Carlisle.

“Hey, Taylor, where are you? I’ve already cleaned up the dormitory for you. Guess what I found. There is your favorite ramen in the cafeteria of Brunswick University. Come back soon and let’s go eat together.” Ross’s attentive voice came from the other end of the phone. However, Taylor seemed a little impatient. “Ross, I remember that I’ve rejected you no less than ten times! Don’t waste time on us anymore. We’re not compatible. You can’t give me what I want. Find another girl and stop bothering me!”
“Taylor, what’s wrong? Did someone upset you…” Before Ross could finish, Taylor interrupted him.
“You made me unhappy! Don’t call me again. I don’t want Senior to misunderstand!” With that, Taylor hung up again.
Taylor was in a good mood, but she got a little upset because of this matter. However, after adjusting her emotions, she said to Carlisle, “I’m sorry, Senior. I hope it didn’t affect your mood.”
Carlisle shook his head. He really sympathized with Ross. Was there no other woman in this world? Why was he clinging to Taylor?! However, all of this had nothing to do with him. He could not be bothered to think too much about it.
Soon, luxurious delicacies were served. Taylor, who was a little unhappy, instantly felt relieved after seeing these dishes.
This was the life she wanted!
Ever since Carlisle opened the door to a new world for her, Taylor and Carlisle had been communicating more frequently. The two of them chatted on Quick Chat, and Taylor would send some ambiguous messages to Carlisle from time to time.
Carlisle even had a feeling that as long as he asked now, Taylor would immediately agree to be his girlfriend. But did Carlisle need a girlfriend? The answer was obvious: No need!
After his experience with Wendy, he finally understood that whoever put in the effort would be the loser.
He now had 1.6 billion and could spend it however he wanted. Right now, he just wanted to enjoy his life.
As for a girlfriend, he might have one in the future, but for now, he didn’t need one.
Carlisle felt that after he became rich, his “peach blossom”[1] seemed to have become more prosperous.
