Chapter 4: Is It So Good To Be A Rich Woman? (1)

“I swear they’re really very handsome!” Xiao Yao raised her hand with sincere eyes.

At that instant, someone knocked on the door, the takeout had arrived.

Ye Yuqing ate two mouthfuls casually and went to play with his notebook.

After being formatted, it was a little troublesome. It was necessary to reinstall the software and import the material … she worked it out for two or three hours, but she could only make out the outline.

It would take about a week to sort it out before it could be recovered.

The commercial draft, which had been drawn for two days, was deleted and required to be rewritten from scratch.

Ye Yuqing had planned to catch up with some progress today, but for half an hour, she did not move a stroke.

She sighed, put down the sketchpad, and turned off the computer.

“Yeqing, tell my mother that I am sleeping in your house tonight.” Xiao Yao walked over holding her mobile phone.

Ye Yuqing took the phone and said, “Hello Aunty.”

Xiao Yao shrugged, in the eyes of her parents, Ye Yuqing had much higher credibility than her.

Several college girls living together inevitably would have small conflicts, but the atmosphere in their dorm was particularly harmonious. They all happened to stay in the city after graduation too. Although they didn’t often meet, they still found some time to chat on WeChat every day.

Ye Yuqing was a gentle girl with a steady temper, she took care of those around her. Gradually, the girls in the dorm realized this, they stopped taking note of her inherent selflessness. Besides, she was willing to cater to those around her, and it’s not like they could fault her current attitude.

During her college days, all Xiao Yao did was play games in her dorm all day. She was so into it that skipping meals was just natural. Like a clock, her good roommate Ye Yuqing would remind her to eat on time, occasionally even bringing the food herself.

As in any college, when a semester nears the close, there’s always a lot to do. Theirs was no different. So, whenever Xiao Yao was unreachable at school, the class rep would directly contact her roommate Ye Yuqing. The joke on campus was that she (YY) was her (XY) guardian at school.

They were in the same dormitory but studying different majors. While Ye Yuqing was from the Chinese Department, Xiao Yao was the one who formally graduated from the Illustration Department. However, she was currently idle.

When it came to hand-painting, Ye Yuqing was self-taught. In the beginning, she would watch free tutorials on forums and practice on her own. But come sophomore year, she actually spent money to take courses outside school.

When she was confident enough with her skills, she started to look to make some money off it. It wasn’t a great start though, she could manage a manuscript of RMB 30 or 40. It wasn’t much, but something was better than nothing.

Xiao Yao was a witness to Ye Yuqing’s growth as an illustrator. Her friend who spent her time diligently practicing, by the fourth year, was better than most students in the Department of Illustration. She could take seven or eight hundred full-length manuscripts now.

It was one thing to have good sketching skills but the key factor, discernibility, was quite another. If the drawing style could be identified at a glance, it was the best thing that could happen to an illustrator.

As for Ye Yuqing, her prowess was painting illusion landscapes. Contrary to her personality, she used bold colors depicting a strong personal style. Slowly she gained name and recognition in the circle. As such, she held no worries about finding a job, she had people queuing up to partner with her.

Xiao Yao’s university life was no secret from her parents. They were amply aware of how much their daughter had troubled Ye Yuqing. So, one day they invited her home for dinner to express their thanks.

Then on, their impression of Ye Yuqing took a turn for the better. They genuinely liked this girl and made no effort to conceal it.

Thus no, after confirming her daughter was actually at Ye Yuqing’s place, Xiao Yu’s mother hung up the phone without any qualms.

——

“Ah, I might be crazy, I’m so beautiful~”

Ye Yuqing came out of the kitchen, paused, and peeked into the bathroom at her friend.

“I’ll go downstairs to get the scum.” Xiao Yao put on her lipstick.

Han Chuan had called last night, but Ye Yuqing had chosen not to answer. Thus he sent a text again, saying he thought that they both should meet and would come to see her today. Ye Yuqing agreed. Besides, if the other party came over, it would be safer.

The things given by Han Chuan were all packed up last night, she could just return them today.

Xiao Yao had met Han Chuan before. Her first impressions of him were that he was a man of few words, unsociable but quite tall and handsome. It was not bad to fall in love with a handsome young man, so she hadn’t voiced her opinion let alone oppose. After all, dating was all about dating more in order to know what kind of a person you like!

Ye Yuqing was someone with a deep penchant for looks. One could say her fondness was to the point of obsession so much so that she had chosen the hardest “Orienteering” in college PE simply because the teacher was very handsome.

If she had to choose between two milk tea shops on the street, she would without a doubt waltz into the one with a handsome guy.

However, the way she liked handsome men was no different from liking a beautiful tree. Simply put, she would never take the initiative to flirt. But should the other party come over for a talk, she would quiver in fright just like a little kitten. All in all, the appearance-obsession was right to the bone, as was incapability.

When she had finally gotten involved with someone, her first love stepped on thunder.

It seems, not only was she incapable but also a bit unlucky.

———

Ye Yuqing had chosen the café they frequented as the rendezvous point. Back in the day, whenever Han Chuan was pressed for time, they would often meet at this coffee shop for a quick date.

The man would read the documents, while she sat next to him and ate dessert, then go to dinner together, and then Han Chuan would send her home. An afternoon would pass just like that. When Ye Yuqing walked in, the table she used to sit on was already occupied.

Han Chuan had arrived before her. Their gazes met, Han Chuan’s breathing slowed.
