Chapter 33 - 33 - Infected Or Not?!

After the solar sheets were installed and every other work was completed in his house, he decided to visit the farmers' market to buy things in bulk but much to his disappointment they only had a few perishable vegetables and other stuff that he did not need at all.

Sighing, he started to wander around the small village searching for things he needed. As he passed by one corner, he came across a huge wall that separated the military compound from this village.

This would be the core point of this country's base. A stronghold that will then be ruled by the strongest and bravest of them all, Fan Xui.

"That peanut butter lover is strong alright... I have become strong as him....."

Then reality hit him hard.

He did not posses any kind of powers in this life!!!

Zou Yue glanced at his finger tip intently. "Maybe that bite did not have the zombie virus..."

He knew in his heart that it was indeed the zombie virus and he was complexly immune to its effects. May it be evoking a mystical ability in him or killing him. It did neither. And it also did not spread to his parents, which made him doubt his previous conviction.

"Was it a zombie bite or not?....,"

His rat Trexa grab had the ability to reverse the time on the wound. It was not something a 'normal rat' could have done.

Only an ability works like that.

"Sigh. But who am I kidding that was a zombie bite. I did get infected, but I didn't gain any kind of powers from it. It sucks!!!"

But even this had a bright side. The zombie virus did not spread to his parents. They were completely fine the day later and even now, they were healthy and active.

Only meant they were immune to the virus.

"Maybe it's because Trexa gran had the initial zombie virus. Maybe it is a special strand of virus. Maybe it was a variant of the zombie virus. I don't know..."

He was not a scientist. In fact, this zombie virus could not even be explained by a scientist. It was more alien like because it came from space.

"Fuck this! I hate being so powerless, should I go train myself to become a samurai or something."

His marksmanship was good. But using a bow and arrow came with its own weakness. There were a limited number of arrows.

But if he learned to use a sword, he could just slash at the zombies in his path.

This kind of close combat came with its risk, but he was willing to take that risk in order to survive.

Because being an ability less human is very very hard.

At the initial staged of the non ability user a.k.a normal human mostly got exterminated by the zombie kind or used as bait for the escaping team. Only the ones with the ability are valued by that twisted society.

Some did survive the initial two years of the apocalypse, but their lives got even worse afterwards. They were either extorted by the other powerful ability users or if it was a woman they were kept as house pets.

Being powerless was a weakness.

Weakness that was exploited thoroughly by the ones with powers.

In the initial stages of zombie apocalypse, he made the mistake if exposing his own face once and that got him into major trouble. A well known ability user in the S city took a liking to his face and wanted to keep him as a 'pet'

Scared for his life, he ran to the Q city human settlement. But this time he rectified his faults. He wore makeup to make him look as ugly as fuck. He sun tanned every day to ruin his milky white complexion.

He created a scar with special effects makeup.

All this suffering to survive and to live peacefully.

Even so, he had to suffer for years by those extorters who would follow him around and steal his food any chance he got.

His fists clenched at these thoughts.

"I don't wish to live that way again and I don't wish to cling to a powerful ability user to survive."

Sighing, he kept walking around.

Zou Yue wandered around near the nearby village aimlessly. The sky was starting to get dark, and he was completely lost. Even his Google maps were not of help in this rural area.

"sigh.. I should have taken up Uncle Bo's offer."

The almighty Bohai had invited him to his home, which was in this same village, but Zou Yue rejected it because it felt quiet weird to stay with a person he barely knew.

But that decision backfired now.

"I am pitifully lost without any way of going home. Agh," he sat on the cobblestone pathway of some random house and glance up at the full moon glowing.

"But my heart is firm. I shall survive this apocalypse through my sheer talent."
