Chapter 93 - 93 - The World Ended

A loud bang and the ground shook violently. The buildings trembled upon impact of the huge meteor.

Zou Yue anxiously looked out the window. He could see so much commotion happening. Fire trucks were trying their best to move to the crash site. The cops were all doing their best to control the panicked mob.

Thankfully, the hotel he stayed in was not damaged in the slightest.

'this is the start. Start of a new era, the zombie world. I am going to miss the fresh smells the most,'

Because after the apocalypse, all one can smell was rotting flesh.

He glanced at the crowd with a weird trepidation in his heart. He just saw Tian Ai, but he missed her as quickly as he found her. If he left now, he can find her soon.

But he did not want to get stuck in this crowd and chances of getting trampled were highest during panic like this.

Just after a few minutes everyone starts to collapse onto the ground.

Because he was already infected by Trexa gran, he did not get sleepy of burn a fever like the others.

His eyes longingly searched for that familiar blue jacket. He could not see Tian Ai anywhere. 'I have to go get her,'

With a trembling hand, he swiftly geared up. His weapons were not that much. Just his hand held a crossbow and twenty arrows. They won't be of much help when a horde of zombies surrounds them. He found a butter knife and a fork in the cutleries. He bagged that as well.

Weapons in hand, he slowly walked out his door. The hotel was not overcrowded, so most of the rooms were empty. He slowly moved towards the stairwell in the corner. During these tough times, it was not good to trust elevators. The electricity will not last long. He knew that.

He reached the lobby safely. The hotel staffs were all unconscious on the ground. He checked their pulse. They were breathing. He pulled them to a closed door and so that they might at least have a few hours of safety, after which surviving is their own fate.

He did not want to save everyone. He just wanted to save his own family and friends.

As he left, he noticed the kitchen right there. Without any hesitation, he strode in. he saw few soup cauldrons on the stove being boiled. He switched the stove off.

The thing he searched for was right next to the cutting station. He found an assortment of knifes there. He picked out as many as he could and bagged them all. The kitchen even ha d knife sharpener. Which can be very handy.

Then he proceeded to search for some oil and salt. These two ingredients can make a small DIY candle that can last a very long time. He did not have to worry about light out.

He took all and stored it carefully in his backpack.

Zou Yue paused by the hotel entrance. His heart pounded in fear and anticipation. He had faced all this before, but even so, he felt the same amount of fear. He tightly gripped his bag. 'I can't let fear take over me.'

He took a deep breath and stepped out into the streets. Many were collapsed on the ground.

Most of them were twitching weirdly. He went close with the crossbow in hand and peered at them. Their veins were starting to turn black and rot was setting in on their body.

This was the first stage of turning.

The second stage their body stiffens up and regained mobility. Like nature's zombie ants, the virus takes control of the body and it goes on a rampage to find new hosts to multiply in.

During the apocalypse there was a popular report by Qian wen said that the zombie virus was like a living organism. It tries its best to survive on the host. It fully takes control of the human's nervous system making them into puppets.

The terrible blood lust was only a way to gain nourishment for the virus in the host's body.

Zou Yue glanced at the thousand of dead bodies twitching creepily. They were mostly dead upon contact with the virus.

As far as his eyes could see, he saw human arms flaying around and cracking sound were heard. They started to softly growl as they twitched.

'The number of infected inside the hotel is exponentially less. I wonder will it work staying indoors.'

But even so, staying indoors is not a permanent solution. Food will run out and so will hope. Soon humans will start to seek the security of groups.

'It's not the time to be distracted,'

He shook his head once, clearing his mind of these useless thoughts. He said a small prayer and moved away.

He did not want to be any closer to them when they'll wake up as zombies. He swiftly moved through the road, searching for Tian Ai. The last spot he saw her was right in front of that pizza place. He first visited there. Some muscular guy was collapsed right by the entrance.

Yue jumped over him and entered the restaurant.

It was sparsely populated with few couples having pizza. Of course, all of them were unconscious. He noticed the door to the kitchen was wide open.

He walked in, but to his surprise he entered a weird basement. There were at least a twenty or so humans down here. Money was scattered on the table as well as on the ground.

"This is a gambling den."

He searched for Tian Ai but she was nowhere in sight. He roamed at least a few streets before he decided to return to his hotel.

Time was running out, and the zombies were showing signs of waking up.

He did not want to be anywhere close when they all started to eat through whatever they could.

He firmly closed the door to his room and started to sharpen the knives he found with the sharpener.
