Chapter 305 305 - The One To Protect

They all played and relaxed for a while and when the sun went down Qian and Peng Peng returned to their home.

Fan and Yue on the other hand, went to the barracks.

"Slow down," Fan said to his lover who was hopping on the road.

That day, before his lover was kidnapped they had ordered a lot of furniture from an old ma, they had requested him to meet in front of the barracks.

It might be a day late but the guards might have met up with him.

They just needed to inform them to let him in and to provide him with food.

Yue happily hopped about. His hood slid down exposing his cute little ears.

Fan gently pinched it. "Why are you so cute?.."

"You know this is the third time you've said that. Do you like my animals form so much?" Yue wiggled his brows.

"I like you whole... animal-human, darn if you were a zombie I would have still loved you," he mumbled with a soft smile.

Yue paused. "What would you do if I was a zombie?"

"Well... I would have locked you up in my room and fed you every day. Of course, your boyfriend is very well capable of that. I'll wait for the cure,"

Yue hugged him immediately. "I will do the same. But do you think there is a cure... I've lived ten years it never happened. Even Qian couldn't find a way to solve this virus."

Fan smirked and pinched his cheeks. "he will, I believe in him."

"Hmm I hope so," Yue sighed loudly, hugging his arm. "I hope we can solve this as soon as we can..... as time passes it will get more chaotic."

Yue looked ahead at the roads. Some soldiers were happily chatting with each other eating a piece of bread and the civilians were also walking about.

It was just six months after the apocalypse now, in a few more years, these clean roads and houses will become run down. The road will become unsafe. Nights will become sleepless with the random screams from the streets.

Fan silently kissed his cheeks. "do you hear from your human ears or from your lemur ear?"

This snapped Yue out of his thoughts. "Um, let me check?"

In his animal morphing form, he had two pairs of ears. One, his human ears and two, his animal pair.

He touched his human ear. He could only hear a vague echo from it. "From my lemur ear.. but these ears are not completely deaf either,"

"I see," Fan suddenly took off his coat and placed it over his hand. He held it out for him.

Yue took his cloth-covered hand. "sigh, this sucks... I can't even touch you without a cloth barrier."

His copy ability was uncontrollable. It would randomly copy anyone's ability he touched.

'if only I can find a way to control that...'

It was a minor inconvenience.

He glanced at their connected hands. 'no a major inconvenience. I want to feel the warmth of his hand… '

If he touched Fan now, he would end up copying his lover's electric ability and his animal morph will disappear. He was ready to part with his cute tail just yet.

He glanced up and Fan suddenly looked away bit his lips.

Yue knew what effect these tails and ears had on his lover and he loved it so much...

'Guess it has it pros and cons. I'll deal with it later on...'

They reached the barrack.

To their surprise the old man was sitting by the gate slumped down, hiding his face in between his bent legs.

"Old man!" Yue ran to him.

The old man looked up, wiping his eyes.

"Did you wait here for us?" Yue peered into his down-cast eyes.

The poor man was cold and hungry..

"I'm so sorry I had a very pressing matter to deal with yesterday and couldn't meet up with you. Please come in," Fan Xui gestured for the soldiers to open the gate.

They guided the old man in. he looked tired, and he was only able to move so slowly.

"Thank you.... I have yet to start on your pieces. But I assure you I will not cheat....." he said slowly.

"It's okay. Please eat and regain your strength. You can start your work whenever you are brisk. Staying healthy is important," Yue smiled at him.

The old man just nodded.

They led him to the canteen and informed the cooking staff about the arrangement they were all accommodating.

Since he was already inside the barracks, Yue thought he might as well visit uncle Wen.

They went to his study. the door was slightly ajar. Uncle was sitting there with a hand on his forehead.

"Uncle?" Yue softly knocked on the open door.

"Yue," he stood up instantly. "Come in, come in. how are you..." he anxiously peered at him.

"I'm good."

"I heard...I heard you…."

"No it's good now. See I've got a new pair of ears and tail. I look so adorable don't I?" he chuckled cheerfully.

Uncle Wen smiled softly. "Yes, so beautiful. Come here," he opened his arms wide.

Yue hugged him tightly.

A small droplet of warm water hit his shoulder. Yue looked up in surprise. Uncle Wen was crying.

"Uncle... why are you crying?"

The old man shook his head.

Yue guided him to sit on the chair. "what is it? Why do you look so sad...."

Uncle Wen just shook his head sobbing silently.

Yue looked at Fan in surprise.

His lover just mouthed, "Hug him, he'll be fine,"

Yue did so. He hugged him tightly, gently patting his back. "Do you want me to sing a song uncle?"

"w..What?" uncle Wen glanced up.

"I was told my voice is very soothing and calming to listen to,"

Uncle Wen chuckled through his tears. "yes please..."

Yue cleared his throat and sang an old song. It was the one his mum used to sing to him when he was young to calm him during thunderstorms.

Hearing this uncle Wen started to calm down a bit. It was the song he was familiar with because Murong Nui used to sing this a lot.

Wen glanced up at the young child. he still had his baby fat on his cheeks and he was the most adorable child.

To think this child suffered so much... it broke his heart.

All these years he had been protecting him in the shadows now... he was unable to.

He glanced towards Fan Xui who silently stood by the doorstep.

'Only that man can... I hope he will protect this child with all his life...'
