Chapter 56

Chapter 56: Learning To Use His Wings (2)

Standing not too far away from Vera’s isolated space, near the usual place where Blake usually tests his spells and rune formations, Blake was once again found standing there.

But this time, he wasn’t alone as another humanoid demon, a beautiful demoness at that, was standing near him.

“So this is the original spell you’re talking about?” Vera asked when she saw the two parallel earth walls that Blake used earlier to launch the earth spike.

“Yes, but it’s the very first prototype.” Blake looked at the earth constructs.

“The two earth walls were only the base, I need to attach darkness tendrils to it and then use an earth spike as its ammo.” Blake then continued explaining the complete spell and his idea.

“It looks more like a combination of spells, a rune formation, rather than just a spell,” Vera commented when she heard Blake’s explanation about his new in-progress spell.

“Yes... I kinda want to find a way to create a one-shot type of spell that is powerful enough to kill my enemies, just as its name implies, possibly in one shot, and this is my attempt at doing it.”

.....

Best

Blake then proceeded to tell Vera about how the darkness spells and the darkness elemental runes that he knew made it impossible to simply use the darkness spell alone to achieve the one-hit kill spell that he wanted.

And using the sturdy earth spike was a way to fill in the gaps that the darkness spells had.

Hearing Blake’s problems with the darkness spells, Vera nodded her head in understanding as she herself knew the problem of the darkness element, which was the lack of certain characteristics that it had.

The type of spell that Blake wanted to create was quite hard to achieve using the darkness element, and although it was possible with the earth element, it wasn’t as easy to do it using the earth elements.

If Blake instead had elements like fire with its explosive characteristics or lightning that had power and speed packed together, then Blake would be able to get that one-shot spell without even using half the power of his brain since the majority of spells in those two elements had those characteristics.

And after thinking more about it, Vera asked,

“You said your bloodline power enables you to get the ability to use other affinities right?”

“Yes,” Blake replied while looking at her, seemingly guessing that Vera had figured out something about his problem.

“Then the next time you use your bloodline power, use it to get either the fire affinity or the lightning ability. Learn the spells of those elements, then your spell problem should be solved.”

“Okay, I will find the ones with a powerful bloodline power so that I can use that bloodline power even if I didn’t know any spells yet.” Blake nodded his head in agreement.

“But I guess, I can give you an alternative first before you get those affinities,” Vera said while tilting her head, seemingly trying to remember something at the back of her mind.

Then as if she had found what she was looking for, Vera nodded her head a couple of times before turning her body towards Blake.

“Watch this carefully.”

Vera then proceeded to draw a set of complicated runes that Blake had never seen before. He actually recognized a few runes, but at least half of them were new to him.

He could recognize some of the other runes and know that they belonged to the darkness element.

And seeing how complicated those runes were, Blake also knew that it was most likely a second realm darkness elemental spell.

And after seeing the runes flash before it crumbled down instead of materializing, Blake was now sure that it was indeed a second realm darkness elemental spell or at least a spell that came from the deeper realms.

Before Blake was able to ask what the spell did, Vera already started explaining.

“As you might have already realized, it was a second realm darkness elemental spell.”

“And you could say that it was the second realm equivalent of the converging ball of darkness spell.”

‘The second realm darkness bullet spell.’ Blake noted in his own head.

“If you want to propel the earth spike forward, you could use this spell instead of the contraption you made.” Vera pointed at the two earth walls.

“You have the cheat-ability to use second realm spells, why not put it to good use?” Vera said while looking at Blake’s eyes, stared for a solid 2 seconds before continuing, “Now that you’ve grown this much, maybe you could handle a second realm spell now.”

Hearing Vera’s words, a revelation came to Blake as he saw the 5 unused status points in his status tab.

He hadn’t tried using the second realm spell again since he reached level 9.

And now that he had reached level 10, he was curious.

‘Well... Maybe I could finally do it...’

Blake then put the 5 unused points to his spirit stat.

Blake then took a deep breath as he calmed himself down before once again trying to cast a second demon realm spell in the first demon realm.

He already knew he would succeed in casting the spell, but what made him uneasy was whether he would be able to do it without the spell taxing too much on his body.

His last experiment showed good progress where he could already remain standing instead of falling sprawled on the ground with heavy limbs and a slight headache.

But still, even though he remained standing, walking was the best thing he could do as his body was feeling severely drained from casting the spell.

He had been ignoring his physique stat a lot because he wanted to be able to use the second realm spell as fast as possible, and if his investment in the spirit stat turned out to be a fail and he couldn’t use the second realm spell without practically being incapacitated after it, it would feel very bitter both in his heart and in his mouth.

‘Focus Blake, it’s not the time to think of those things.’ Blake said to himself as he shook his head left and right to scatter the thoughts in his mind.

Blake then took several more deep breaths and closed his eyes.

And the moment he took the last deep breath, Blake opened up his eyes and started drawing the runes that Vera had just shown him earlier.

As always, as it was the first time Blake was drawing those runes, it took him about 3 whole seconds to draw those runes.

But as expected, Blake still succeeded in drawing the sets of runes.

The runes flashed and it stayed in the air. Seemingly doing nothing.

However, Blake already knew what was coming next and braced himself.

Soon, Blake felt strength start leaving his body as it was rapidly being absorbed by the runes that he had just drawn using his finger.

He could feel large chunks of his strength being absorbed every split second as he felt his body getting heavier and heavier.

And the draining feeling that he felt didn’t seem to have any plans to stop as Blake started feeling slight light-headedness.

‘Is this still not enough...?’ Blake said bitterly in his head.

But before Blake was prepared to get into the extremely weakened state again, the draining feeling suddenly stopped just right before Blake entered that state, and the spell manifested itself.

A ball of condensed darkness element, several times bigger than the usual darkness bullet that he usually used, appeared from the flashing runes as it flashed forward with blinding speed.

Blake only blinked his eyes a couple of times, but apparently, it was more than enough time for the second realm darkness bullet spell to reach a tree 25 meters away from Blake’s location and crash straight onto the tree.

And different from the usual darkness bullet where it would just simply disappear after the darkness element dissipates after hitting a target, the second realm darkness bullet exploded at contact with the tree, destroying the thick trunks that made contact with it to countless pieces, essentially cutting the tree down.

A loud boom was heard as the top half of the tree fell onto the ground after ? of its trunk being turned to literal sawdust, but Blake was oblivious to the loud sound as he was focused on something else.

“I... I did it... I can use second realm spell without losing all my strength...” He muttered out loud.

“It wasn’t wasteful ignoring my physique stat all this time...”

“I did it Vera!” Blake shouted as he jumped before bear-hugging the beautiful demoness beside him.
