Chapter 79

Chapter 79: Chasing The Brownish Demon

“Get him, Robus!” Blake shouted as he started making his own way toward the two demons in front of him.

Of course, having bigger muscles and a bigger body that was also very agile, it was guaranteed that Robus was able to catch up to the brownish demon who didn’t have speed and agility as its main strength.

A few powerful jumps with Robus’ massive legs that consisted almost entirely of pure muscles would be enough to catch up to the running brownish demon.

However, even with quicker speed and more agile movements, Robus still hadn’t got his hands on the brownish demon.

And the reason for that was none other than because the brownish demon still had a trick hidden in its sleeve that it had just shown after its life was threatened.

After a single one of Robus jumping, the brownish demon saw how far Robus could travel.

And it didn’t take a genius to figure out that it was only a matter of time before the huge gorilla would catch up to it if the brownish demon didn’t make any changes to the status quo.

.....

The brownish demon casting speed was very slow that it took him 4 whole seconds just to cast a single spell

Four seconds might not be considered short in some circumstances, but when a huge gorilla that could jump very far away every two seconds, that four seconds became very short and the brownish demon knew that he didn’t have the luxury of drawing runes for 4 whole seconds.

So when push comes to shove, the brownish demon finally reveals something that it didn’t have before.

On the brownish demon’s skull, the part where there was an additional layer of bones that made his skull thicker and had an extra layer of defense, an unfamiliar rune that Blake had never seen before resurfaced onto the brownish demon’s bald skin.

And from the glow that those runes had when resurfacing to the brownish demon’s skull, there’s no way Robus and Blake didn’t notice them suddenly appearing there.

Seeing this, the two demons that were chasing after the brownish demon, the huge gorilla and the jet-black-skinned humanoid demon, only took a proper glance at it and took a mental note to be more careful in their approach.

Although neither Blake nor Robus knew what those runes were since it was their first time seeing runes with such a shape, they didn’t think too much about it and quickly acknowledged that the brownish demon now used his bloodline power.

The duo of the demonic beast and the humanoid demon already had their fair share of fighting against demonic beasts with bloodline powers and they already know what to do when faced with an unknown bloodline power.

And that was to be wary and to be very aware of their surroundings to notice the change that the bloodline power might bring.

As long as they kept those things in mind, they knew that they didn’t need to give up their chase just because of an unknown power.

The two of them just kept their eyes locked onto the brownish demon and also his surroundings while they continued their chase.

However, both Blake and Robus couldn’t help but click their tongues in annoyance as they found out what the brownish demon’s bloodline power was capable of doing.

Of course, Blake heaved a sigh of relief knowing that the brownish demon didn’t have a bloodline power like the huge crow that could easily destroy a small chunk of the forest, uprooting the trees around him.

But on the other hand, the bloodline power was so annoying that even Robus started imitating Blake’s annoyed gesture and clicked his huge tongue.

And the brownish demon’s bloodline power was simply the ability to wave his hand and summon an earth wall from the ground.

Blake’s speed was considered to be even lesser than the brownish demon considering he almost neglected his physique stat.

Resulting in Blake being left behind quite a significant distance in the chase as he was still running behind Robus.

So Blake didn’t actually feel the impact of the brownish demon’s bloodline power.

However, Robus, who was hot on the brownish demon’s tail, really felt the effect of those earth walls that the brownish demon summoned with a wave of his hand.

Every time Robus wanted to kick his feet off the ground, the brownish demon waved his hand and the ground below Robus started shaking for a split second before a single earth wall protruded from below Robus’ feet.

The earth wall might not be able to do much or even any damage with the dark earth armor covering Robus’ whole body, including his feet.

However, the fact that Robus’ feet were being pushed off the ground when he was trying to gather his strength and explode up to jump, of course, affected the huge gorilla’s ability to properly jump.

And when Robus had gotten too annoyed and gave up on jumping altogether, the brownish demon decided to change the position of the earth walls that he was summoning and made it so that the earth walls protruded right in front of Robus’ face while he was running.

It could have been an endless game of cat and mouse for Robus and the brownish demon with how things were going between the two.

However, that would only be the case if there were only those two in the frame.

Robus might not have the situation to break the status quo, but the same couldn’t be said to Blake who had an arsenal of versatile spells that he could use.

Just as how Robus came to the frame earlier changed the status quo for Blake and enabled the two of them to turn the situation around when fighting the five humanoid demons, the same could be said in this current situation where Robus was stuck in an endless, annoying situation.

For starters, Blake knew that he needed to catch up to Robus and the brownish demon.

And to do that he needed speed.

Blake could experiment on learning the skeletal wing demon’s way of utilizing the wing’s ability to make his body lighter to get the speed that he needed.

But in a situation where he couldn’t guarantee the result of his experiment, Blake decided to resort to the good old method that he knew would work.

Moving his two hands, Blake started drawing the single darkness tendril spell with each hand and aimed them toward two parallel trees some distance in front of him.

Using the usual, same method, Blake once again pulled himself forward with the two darkness tendrils and shot himself forward, catching up to the two demons in front of him.

With how often he uses this method of traveling, Blake didn’t even need to hold onto the two darkness tendrils for the whole duration of the spell and let go of the two darkness tendrils when he reached the maximum speed.

And why would Blake let go of the darkness tendrils when he could just safely hold onto them for the whole duration of the spell? It was none other than to free his hands.

After he got his hands free, Blake drew a set of runes in mid-air.

The runes that he drew this time weren’t too complicated, but it took him more than just a second as it was his first time drawing those runes.

However, it wasn’t a new spell or anything that he created on the spot as it was incredibly hard to do even for him to create an original spell in minutes.

In fact, if the brownish demon had his eyes on Blake right now, then the brownish demon would have instantly recognized the runes that Blake was currently drawing as it was a very, very familiar set of runes for him.

How could it not be? It was his own spell.

“Taste your own shit, you annoying, rude, and uncultured humanoid demon!”

Blake shouted as the runes he drew flashed and disappeared into the air.
