Chapter 88

Chapter 88: Where Are They Now? (1)

“Veraaaaa!!!”

Blake shouted as he entered Vera’s isolated space and went past the colorful beautiful garden straight into the wooden house right in the middle of the area.

But as per usual, there’s no reply whatsoever coming from inside the house even though Blake’s shout was loud enough to reach the other end of the isolated space.

But Blake wasn’t worried or even wondered why Vera didn’t hear him albeit his loud voice.

Blake just went inside the house and headed straight to the basement’s door.

Blake had spent a few hours with Robus hunting demonic beasts in the forest.

And although Blake kind of hoped that he would encounter the humanoid demons again as that means there was a chance that he would be able to eat the sweet and savory soul again, his search bore no fruit as he and Robus only met with demonic beasts.

.....

But that doesn’t mean that he felt those few hours were wasted.

Other than him also getting about a dozen souls to get himself closer to leveling up, Blake had also fulfilled his promise with Robus and helped Robus to get himself about 30 souls worth of souls from moderately tasty souls.

Blake had also told Robus about how eating the flavorless souls would help him get stronger faster.

And despite Robus having doubts about it since it was contrary to his own experience when Blake was the one who said it, the huge gorilla decided to trust Blake and also eat the flavorless souls despite doing it with much less enthusiasm.

After fulfilling his promise with Robus, Blake then told the gorilla that he needed to get back home first as there was something that he needed to tell Vera.

And currently, Blake was already knocking on the basement’s door, patiently waiting for either an answer or letting himself in.

And with Vera still busy with her tests and experiments, of course, Blake had to do the latter and slowly opened the door and watched his steps carefully as he made his way onto the back of the room where Vera could be seen tinkering with some unknown objects.

Arriving at the back of the room where he was only a couple of steps away from Vera, Blake just stood there and observed the demoness quietly, waiting for her to call out to him first.

Blake saw how Vera was drawing rune formations on a box-like object.

And with him also being able to create rune formations, he knew that drawing them with extreme precision was a must. Hence why Blake didn’t even call out to her and just waited patiently for her to finish what she was doing.

And after about 2 full minutes, Vera finally heaved a sigh, put down the object in her hand, and opened up her mouth.

“What’s the occasion this time, Blake?”

Those were the first words that came out of Vera’s mouth instead of a greeting because Blake intruding on her workplace could only mean that Blake had something important that he wanted to tell her soon.

And Blake also knew that she was in the middle of something, so he quickly told her about what he had seen a few hours ago.

“I met other humanoid demons for the first time!”

“Now I understand what you meant by saying they look significantly different from us,” Blake spoke as he remembered their lack of ability to speak and their appearance which was also very far away from being called similar to a human.

Vera was expecting questions about spells of different elements, or him having somehow created a new spell again in such a short amount of time, or maybe even a new element that he had after using his bloodline power.

Basically, she had prepared herself for any kinds of bizarre activities that Blake might have done in the little time that they didn’t see each other.

But when she heard the words that came out of Blake’s mouth, she was startled for a split second as she had never expected that something like that would happen.

The sole reason Vera decided to stay on an island in the middle of nowhere, away from the mainland was to get away from the native residents of the first demon realm.

And in an island where only one type of demon existed, the demonic beasts, and with their characteristic of being lacking in the intelligence department, were the perfect choice for Vera’s circumstances.

And Blake seeing humanoid demons that were native to the first demon realm was something that shouldn’t have happened. Or at least something that was very unlikely to happen.

“Where did you see them?” Vera instantly asked.

Blake tilted his head slightly in confusion as he noticed the urgentness in Vera’s behavior and wondered what made her act like that.

But Blake shelved his own question for the time being and answered Vera’s question first.

Blake then walked over to a table that had sand covering the top of it and started drawing on the sand.

He made a circle and told Vera that it was Vera’s home.

Then he traced his fingers left and right, recalling the path and the exact direction that he took while doing his routine hunting activities with Robus before his finger stopped at a certain point, quite far away from the initial circle that he drew.

“I met them here.”

Vera then looked at all the lines that Blake drew on the sand and tried to figure out on which part of the island Blake met the humanoid demons.

Her memory wasn’t as picture-perfect as Blake, but she was amongst the top ones, and remembering the details and map of the place where she had been living in for years was easy for her.

So when she recognized the place that Blake had pointed out and realized in which direction Blake met those humanoid demons, Vera already had several guesses in her mind about how those humanoid demons could come to the island.

But before she made any decisions, she asked another question first,

“Where are they now?”
