Chapter 116

116 Runemasters (5)

Blake looked at the swirling fire tornado in front of him and wondered whether there were any humanoid demons still alive after being put inside a literal killing machine.

Blake also didn’t know whether the fire was so hot that it made all the humanoid demons’ blood evaporate the moment it was discharged from their body after they received a wound or if the blood was there but wasn’t visible due to the red color of the flame that Vera had cast with a rune formation.

Blake didn’t know whether Vera really had all the affinities in her body to be able to cast three, or more precisely four spells with different elements, including the space lock spell. He doubted that she really had that many affinities.

But it wasn’t impossible either for her to be able to do all that as she had already taught him about the method of using other demon’s blood that had certain affinities to make a rune formation that was able to carry and manifest the spell that he didn’t have the affinities to.

And seeing the beautiful combination of the three spells, the mass earth spikes spell, the wind tornado, and the burst of flames, Blake couldn’t help but think to himself.

‘I should really invest more of my time and effort in becoming a better runemaster...’

How could he not think like that? The 19 humanoid demons that he was having a very hard time fleeing, not even fighting, were currently inside the fiery blender of death, without any of them able to put up any meaningful fight against their current fate.

Not that they could try it a lot of times considering the second they went into the fire tornado blender, their body was already either charred by the hot flames or pierced by the sharp earth spikes.

Seeing the spell combination go on for about 15 whole seconds without weakening, Blake began to wonder how much damage it had done to the humanoid demon’s body and whether any of them had any unique physical trait like the brownish demon back then that enabled them to survive such an ordeal.

.....

Other than the curiosity about the 19 humanoid demons’ condition, Blake also wondered about what would happen to their souls after they had died while still inside the tornado.

‘Will their souls stick to their bodies? Or will their souls be carried away by the air current, separated from their bodies, and even possibly thrown away when the spell finally stops manifesting?’

It might seem like a simple and stupid question, but Blake himself had never touched the soul of the creatures that he had killed before.

After a soul popped out of a creature’s body, Blake just used his hands to grab those souls to either put the souls in his mouth directly or give them to Robus for him to eat.

‘What if the souls were thrown away and scattered in several different directions by the tornado?!’ Blake half panicked in his heart when he thought of that possibility.

If that really happened, then Blake would have to spend a lot of time chasing after each soul that was spread god knows where and how far in the unimaginably huge forest.

But seeing Vera’s calm face above his, Blake just trusted her judgment and spells and hoped that he could eat the possible tasty and sweet souls without having to do a scavenger hunt in the forest first.

Fortunately, Blake’s faith in the beautiful demoness seemed to have paid off as he soon saw the answers to his questions.

After 15 seconds had passed, the spell combination began to weaken, or more precisely, the wind tornado began to lose its strength.

Best

Fortunately, Blake’s fear of the bodies or the souls scattering after the tornado lost its strength didn’t happen due to how the tornado gradually weakened instead of it just suddenly disappearing from the world.

The strong tornado that pulled everything around it and kept everything orbiting around its huge body began to lose its pulling force as all the things that the tornado carried within it started to slowly but surely come back down to the ground while still following the orbit of the tornado.

The earth spikes and the burned carcasses of the 19 humanoid demons began to descend slowly to the ground without everything getting too scattered away from the previous body of the wind tornado.

And the violent flames that were contained within the tornado also began to weaken after the 15 seconds mark hit, dissipating into the environment by itself after the wind tornado had lost its pulling force.

Whilst all the parts of the combined spell finally died down and exposed the fate of the 19 humanoid demons that were thrown into it, Blake didn’t pay too much attention to how the spell reconstructed itself cleanly without leaving much of a mess other than the scattered earth spikes.

Instead, Blake had his eyes focused on the 19 humanoid demons’ bodies, more specifically, their souls.

Yes, all 19 humanoid demons, without missing even one, had all died under the fire tornado blender’s might.

And also yes, the souls that had come out of their bodies after they died were still floating right above their bodies, following right above the empty carcass wherever it went.

Blake’s eyes lit up in excitement as it only meant that he didn’t have to be searching for souls all over the forest since the souls were attached to the bodies of the humanoid demons instead of being affected by the strong air current of the tornado.

Blake wanted to go right there onto the middle of the clearing where all the souls were currently floating, but remembering that he was currently still had his body carried up by Vera, Blake could only look upward and said,

“Vera, we will eat those souls later, right? It would be a waste to leave them just like that.”

Upon hearing Blake’s first sentence that came out of Blake’s mouth after watching the amazing spectacle that she was quite proud of, Vera couldn’t help but do a double take as she realized the main focus was on Blake’s mind.

“After all the things that had just happened in front of you, the first thing that came to your mind is eating the souls?” She asked while looking straight into Blake’s eyes.
