Chapter 137

137 A Humanoid Demons’ Base

On a forest that exists between the shore where Blake landed on the main continent and the shore where hundreds of humanoid demons were busy building their boats, a base surrounded by wooden walls with towers made out of blackish rock material stood on the corners of the base, standing tall in the midst of the plains and intimidating whomever that got close enough to see the full structure.

However, one particular demon that stood behind the cover of the thick tree of the forest didn’t feel any kind of fear or intimidation from seeing the huge structures towering all hundreds of humanoid demons that scattered all around the area.

What she had in her mind instead was only full of curiosity and wonder.

Vera, using her wings, had arrived at the forest that was close to the humanoid demons’ base after only flying for about 10 minutes.

Not only she was curious about who had taught the humanoid demons to make boats and why did they force those humanoid demons to make boats in the first place, but also after finding a literal base somewhere near the shore, Vera’s head was only full of questions that keeps on increasing after each discovery that she found.

From all the evidence so far, or at least what she knew, she was already 100% sure that whoever was doing all this mess in the first demon realm and breaking apart the balance and culture that existed in the first demon realm wasn’t related to her at all.

And after giving it a quick thought, it would make sense that people from her realm would not bother with the residence of the first realm as they simply didn’t mean anything to them.

If they really found her and were searching for her, only a small group of humanoid demons would be sent after her and they would not be relying on the native residents of the first demon realm.

They wouldn’t even use the first realm demons as cannon fodders, why in the world would they trust them with an even more important task such as finding her?

.....

However, Vera also found out that the existence of a foreign entity, such as her, in the first demon realm was definitely confirmed by all her current findings.

And the only thing that she wanted to do now was to find out who that foreign entity was and whether its presence would be affecting her.

Vera then stared at the base behind the wooden walls and the blackish towers by flying high up in the sky.

She saw hundreds of simple-looking houses on the outskirts of the base while bigger and bigger houses existed as they got closer to the center of the base.

She also saw the demons that worked all around the base, most of them building boats on the shore, some of them working to chop trees, and some hunting for food.

And Vera could even see a hierarchy between the humanoid demons, with some of the strong and fit-looking humanoid demons hitting and kicking the scrawny and malnourished-looking humanoid demons to get them to do work.

‘Eh, they even brought the crude caste system here.’ Vera thought to herself as she observed the situation around her.

‘Be it they only came from the second realm with their current governing system or they did come from even deeper realms but resorted to using this crude system because of the native humanoid demon’s incapabilities to follow a more refined one.’

Seeing the biggest house in the middle of the base, Vera already knew where she would need to go if she wanted to find a reliable source of answers to her questions.

However, she didn’t go there right away and decided to observe more, particularly at the black rock tower that certainly didn’t come from the local area where there were only flat plains, a shore, and a forest.

Such types of rocks could only be found in certain types of terrains, and the terrains that existed around the local area weren’t the ones that were able to produce such materials.

She already had her eyes on the carriage that brought those darkish rocks to an unfinished tower and kept a portion of her attention there while she was looking around the place earlier.

And when she saw one of the demons pull one of the empty carriages away and started going outside the base, she started to slowly follow behind the demon to see where they got such materials from and how did the humanoid demons manage the distribution and logistics of such stuff.

As knowing about how the humanoid demons handle things, Vera could learn more about the foreign entity’s origins and assess the danger better.

About half an hour after Vera followed after the carriage and went away from the base and the forest, a pair of demons finally arrived on the other end of the forest with a loud boom that slightly shook the trees around their landing place.

“Okay, let’s stop jumping around from here, Robus.”

“Despite we’re quite familiar with a forest environment, we still couldn’t see anything in the forest and we might alert enemies that we didn’t even know if they existed or not if we were to draw too much attention to ourselves.”

“As usual, we should be covert when threading upon new areas, just like back home.”

“r.” Robus replied shortly before helping Blake to get back down to the ground from his back.

Best

It was their standard operating procedure when they were on high alert with their surroundings. They would stay close to each other, close enough to give support if needed, but not too close that they would hinder each other’s abilities.

Inside the forest, not only did Blake and Robus meet the familiar demonic boars that they saw all the time on the island, but they also found different kinds of demonic beasts that they had never seen before.

Ranging from giant insects that were as big or even bigger than Blake’s body to a docile-looking demonic rabbit that looks very similar to an ordinary rabbit that he knew back in his world.

But the two didn’t have any plans to rush hunting any of those demons yet. Blake needed to know first where they were currently on the main continent, so he decided to travel past the forest without necessarily stopping to hunt those demons.

Of course, Blake wouldn’t just ignore the ones that ran into his and Robus’ way and kill them all with a simple barrage of darkness bullets or a darkness spike spell before eating their souls. Why would he reject free souls that delivered themselves to him?

And when they finally got to near the end of the forest, Blake gave himself a pat on the back as his guess was correct.

He finally found the place where hundreds of humanoid demons that would give him hundreds if not thousands of souls that he needed to level up and evolve.
