182 Who Are You?

“Who are you...?”

The forest green humanoid demon was adamant in asking that question because of the things that he had seen with his own eyes a few moments ago before the dark earth dome erected and closed him off with the jet-black humanoid demon inside it.

It was because of the rune formations that he saw the jet-black humanoid demon grab from his pouch before throwing them to the ground to erect the huge dome in a matter of seconds.

The only ways the jet-black humanoid demon was able to use those rune formations were either he was a runemaster himself which was unlikely or he was given those rune formations from a runemaster which was more likely considering the fact that they were currently in the first demon realm.

The native humanoid demons of the first demon realm barely knew how to use and cast their own spells in three to four seconds, for them to be able to learn how the runes worked and put them into objects to store their spells or create a new one was very unlikely, rather impossible to do for the native of the first demon realm.

With that logic, the only way for the jet-black humanoid demon to be able to get his hands on those rune formations was if he were given those by the scrawny demon, which the forest green humanoid demon knew was a full-fledged runemaster in the second demon realm.

Hence why his question, “Who are you!?” The forest green humanoid demon once again asked, this time with a more demanding tone than before.

Although the similar-looking dark flame that covered the jet-black humanoid demon in front of him, the forest green humanoid demon wasn’t afraid of the humanoid demon since he still believed that he could fight with any humanoid demons that belonged in the first demon realm and win.

The thought that a native humanoid demon from the first realm would be able to beat him had never crossed his mind.

‘Did that scrawny old demon pick up a demon here and give him rune formations and tell him to run around the bases?’

‘If so? What is he doing here? What is he doing right now?’ These questions popped up in the forest green humanoid demon’s mind, but the jet-black humanoid demon didn’t say a word and even ignored the question that the forest green humanoid demon asked.

Instead, the jet-black humanoid demon just raised both of his hands to the side before he started drawing a set of runes each with his two hands.

Seeing the unknown humanoid demon start drawing runes without a single coming out of his mouth, the forest green humanoid demon jumped back even further while drawing his own runes to prepare for whatever was coming.

Even without saying anything, the forest green humanoid demon could feel the hostility coming from the jet-black humanoid demon.

“WHAT ARE YOU DOING!?” He shouted as his hands finished drawing the two sets of runes in just a second, the same speed that the jet-black humanoid demon was able to also finish his sets of runes.

‘Did that old coot want to kill me? But why? If anything, that old demon should have been aiming for that brute inst-‘

The forest green humanoid demon’s thought was once again cut off as he saw the runes that the jet-black humanoid demon had drawn suddenly shifted slightly to the side, opening up space in the jet-black humanoid demon’s arm.

Then in that empty space, nether began to gather up from the unknown humanoid demon body and formed a very familiar-looking dark flame fireball.

And although the jet-black humanoid demon didn’t start drawing another set of spells while keeping the first ones on hold, the scene was very familiar to the forest green humanoid demon as it was the exact same technique that one of his kin was capable of doing.

Particularly, the one that had been killed about a week ago.

“That is...” Then something clicked in his mind.

“Are you the one who killed that fool a week ago?”

However, despite being thrown more questions, the response was still the same, there was not a single answer that came from the jet black humanoid demon’s mouth.

The only change that could be identified was the dark flame fireballs becoming denser with nether than before every time a second passed by.

“Answer me you arroga-”

“Be quiet.” This time, the jet-black humanoid demon’s words cut off the forest green humanoid demon’s.

Despite the shock and even more questions popping up in his head when he heard how fluent the jet-black humanoid demon was with his words, without a single stutter at all, the forest green humanoid demon refused to believe that a native dared to talk back to him.

“You dare speak like that to a demon above you!? Can’t you feel the contract’s...”

The forest green humanoid demon then trailed off his own last words due to the words that were supposed to form in his mouth had suddenly been stuck to the back of his throat.

‘The contract’s mark...’

‘He didn’t have the contract’s mark...’

He didn’t think about it at first, but now that he had actually put effort into it, the forest green humanoid demon couldn’t actually feel the contract’s mark on the jet-black humanoid demon’s body at all.

No matter how hard the forest green humanoid demon tried to feel it, he couldn’t find it.

It wasn’t a natural thing for him to do since every humanoid demon he saw was already under contract with either him or his other kin in the first demon realm.

But now, seeing one without the contract’s mark, the forest green humanoid demon’s mind was thrown into confusion.

And it could only mean one thing, the jet-black humanoid demon wasn’t related to any of his kin.

“I’ve been told that the demon’s hierarchy was a simple one.” The jet-black humanoid demon suddenly spoke when the forest green humanoid demon suddenly became silent.

“It was from how strong you are compared to the others.” The jet-black humanoid demon then continued, “And for you to say that you are above me, then you have to be stronger than me, right?”

“But, are you really?”

With that last sentence, the jet-black humanoid demon shifted back the set of runes that he held on the side of his palm back to the center, joining it together with the dark flame fireball.

The forest green humanoid demon didn’t know what kind of spell would come out of the sets of runes the jet-black humanoid demon drew combined with the dark flame fireball that he had become very familiar with for the past few minutes by being attacked by the variant.

But he knew that he couldn’t let those dark flames touch his body ever again.

The two demons facing off against each other then released their holds on the spell that they were holding on to, letting their spells manifest into the world.

Though in the almost total darkness, it was a disadvantage for the forest green humanoid demon’s side due to him not being able to see his spell that didn’t emit any light.

It wasn’t actually that hard for the forest green humanoid demon to use his spells to block the jet-black humanoid demon’s dark flame fireballs since the dark flame fireballs were literally glowing and became the source of light that prevented the inside of the dark earth dome from becoming total darkness.

However, seeing the spell was one thing, dodging it was another different thing that the forest green humanoid demon couldn’t achieve.

And it was none other because of the speed of those dark flame fireballs.

Different from the dark flame fireballs that were thrown by the variant a few minutes ago, the dark flame fireballs that were cast by the jet-black humanoid demon were simply incomparable with each other.

With the distance between the forest green humanoid demon and the jet-black humanoid demon only a few meters away, there was simply not a chance for the former to dodge a darkness flame bullet.

The man-sized root had successfully manifested onto the world and the forest green humanoid demon tried to move them to block the dark flame fireballs which he saw had also left the jet-black humanoid demon’s hand along with an unknown spell that had just manifested.

However, it only took a blink of an eye for the dark flame fireball to move from the jet-black humanoid demon’s hands to the forest green humanoid demon’s body.

And soon, despite the man-sized roots that were in the middle of bending their bodies sideways, their caster had literally lost both his shoulders and arms after being blown away by the dark flame bullet.

The intense pain of his body being instantaneously dismembered soon entered the forest green humanoid demon’s brain as he lost control of his spells and also his own body, dropping down to the ground and started rolling all over the place to try and get rid of the dark flame that had started eating at the stumps on what supposed to be his shoulders.

But just as he had learned before, simply using the ground to pat away the flames was impossible. No matter how hard he rolled his body, the dark flames kept on burning his body both the inside and the outside.

And it was only a matter of time before his whole body would have been made a fuel for the dark flame to exist.

But as if the jet-black humanoid demon still had more plans for the forest green humanoid demon, he started drawing more runes in the air and let them manifest onto the world.

The ground right under the rolling burning humanoid demon then shook for a split second before dozens of burning darkness tendrils came out of the ground, latching onto the forest green humanoid demon’s body, keeping him from moving his body and adding more flames to hasten the rate of the forest green humanoid demon’s body turning to char.
