Chapter 183 - 183 One Step Closer

183 One Step Closer

With his whole body being turned to a source of light – or fire to be more exact, the forest green humanoid demon didn’t see his surroundings as complete darkness anymore.

In fact, he couldn’t even see anything clearly as the pain that assaulted his whole body, being burned alive by the dark flame, was more than enough to overload his sensory organ, making him only able to feel the throbbing pain that his whole body was subjected to.

Although there were severed body parts, there wasn’t any blood, or at least a flowing one that made the area wet since the dark flame really did its job very well, drying out the forest green humanoid demon’s blood that made contact with it while continuing its task to eat the flesh that it had latched itself to.

Without the darkness binding spell, making the forest green humanoid demon’s body stay in place, unable to move even an inch away, the forest green humanoid demon would have rolled all over the place as he tried to free himself from the torture and unbearable pain that was currently assaulting his body.

However, even without the darkness binding spell, it would still be a futile attempt for the forest green humanoid demon due to the dark earth dome being as rigid and tough as it usually was.

The reason Blake used the dark earth dome despite him having succeeded in shooting down the forest green humanoid demon’s wings was that he wanted to make sure that he wouldn’t miss the golden chance to end one of the humanoid demons from the deeper realms while being completely isolated from the surroundings.

He didn’t know whether there were more rune formations on the base, or whether the forest green humanoid demon somehow had an emergency escape plan, and by trapping him inside a dark earth dome that was even tough enough to hold Robus down for half a minute or maybe even a minute, was a way for him to make sure that he got the kill.

Moreover, forcing the forest green humanoid demon inside the small dome was also a way for Blake to make sure that the forest green humanoid demon wouldn’t be able to dodge his spells.

Blake used to be wary if he were to be thrown inside a cramped space with an enemy in close quarter combat range even though he had made a specialized spell for such cases.

.....

But now that he had Cyra’s bloodline power, the only ones who would be suffering if they were to get too close to him with his whole body burning in dark flame were his enemies, not him.

His enemies would have the natural instinct to walk away from him due to the heat that his body emitted, making the forest green humanoid demon take several steps backward earlier at a safe distance from Blake’s flame.

However, with the dark earth dome restricting the area, the forest green humanoid demon could only go so far, and that distance was the distance where Blake’s darkness flame bullet spell could reach in a flash, which then resulted in what was currently happening inside the dark earth dome.

Blake stood there, waiting patiently as the dark flame did its job.

Blake could certainly help the dark flame’s job by casting another darkness flame bullet spell straight to the forest green humanoid demon’s skull at point blank range.

The forest green humanoid demon’s whole body was restrained and there was no way he could dodge a darkness flame bullet to the head at point-blank range, which would result in his skull breaking apart and the insides being burned by the dark flame.

However, when Blake heard the screams that came out of the forest green humanoid demon’s mouth, a part of his body that hadn’t been touched by the dark flame yet, Blake was reminded of the brownish demon’s scream back on the island.

The tone, intensity, and the volume of the scream were similar, almost identical to the brownish demon’s scream, a scream that had given birth to the sweetest, most unforgettable soul that he had ever eaten in his entire life.

Hence why Blake’s lack of action to end the fight or the screams faster. He wished to taste that kind of soul once again.

About a minute went by within the dark earth dome and now, the two sources of light had finally become one. The dark flame had eaten its prey, down to the bones, and only the dark flame that was burning on Blake’s body remained to light up the darkness inside the dome.

Blake then opened up one of his palms, sending nether through it, creating another dark flame fireball that stayed floating on top of his palm and illuminated the darkness even more.

It was quite hard to see with only the light coming from his body, but with another source of light, Blake could finally see it.

A dark circular orb that floated above the ground where the remains of the forest green humanoid demon were supposed to be lying. Though there was nothing there but his darkness binding spell that now bounded nothing, all had been eaten by the dark flame.

Using his other hand which he didn’t use as a light source, Blake grabbed onto the soul orb and put it right in front of his mouth, staring at it with wonders as to what kind of taste it would give.

But the wondering didn’t stay long as his curiosity and desire pushed the dark soul orb inside his opened mouth and placed it there.

As soon as the soul orb landed on his tongue, Blake’s body shivered in delight as he once again tasted the sweetness that he was looking for for as long as he had first tasted the brownish demon’s soul.

He had been craving it ever since and only now he could finally taste it again. Blake didn’t move his mouth or his tongue, he just let the soul sit in his mouth for a solid minute before taking a deep breath and finally swallowing the soul.

The sweetness of the soul was top-notch, a taste that he would never forget, but the real flavor explosion would come only after he swallowed it and tasted the savoriness of the soul.

And with a soul from a humanoid demon from the deeper realm, a single soul that worth 10 souls, which was the most savory soul that he had ever eaten, combined with the addictive kind of sweetness that he got from the strong lingering emotions before the humanoid demon died, Blake couldn’t help but have his whole body frozen, without taking a single breath for at least 6 seconds, before finally letting a sigh full of pleasure.

Even after the sigh that rebooted his body’s consciousness, Blake took another half a minute to regain his composure before finally turning back and walking to the edge of the dark earth dome, not saying a single word as he tried to keep the suggestive lingering aftertaste in his mouth as long as possible.

He cast a spell to create a hole in the ground under the dark earth dome to get himself out without saying anything, then created an explosion to propel himself up the sky without saying anything, then flew back into the humanoid demon’s base without saying anything.

‘It’s…’ Blake tried to think of a word in his mind to describe what he had just felt, but failed as he didn’t even know where to begin to describe the taste of a soul that came from a higher-leveled being from a deeper realm that also had strong lingering emotions in its soul.

In the end, he just accepted the fact that he was speechless and went to search for his friends to see what they were doing.

Which wasn’t necessarily a hard task considering one of them was a humongous gorilla and he also had the connection with the two of them that he could follow to find the other one, which was a bit trickier to find considering her body melded with the scenery of dark flames rampaging around everywhere.

Blake followed his eyes to walk slowly towards his gorilla best friend first, who was still busy cleaning up the remains of the humanoid demons that had been freed from their contracts with the forest green humanoid demon.

Of course, he also ate the souls that were spread all over the base, be it his two friends didn’t bother to eat them while they were rampaging or they intentionally left it for him, Blake didn’t think too much about it and just shoved those souls into his mouth.

A humanoid demon’s base was a treasure trove for souls, and he wouldn’t want to miss out on them, especially when he was only 2 levels away from reaching level 15 to finally evolve and meet Vera again.

Compared to the soul that he had just eaten inside the dark earth dome, the scattered souls in the humanoid demon’s base tasted like cardboard. Though they weren’t actually tasteless and they were actually worth 3 to even 6 souls. It was just Blake’s palette getting more and more ‘refined’ with the more delicious souls that he had eaten so far.

However, no matter how poor their taste was compared to the forest green humanoid demon’s soul, they were souls nonetheless.
