Chapter 190 - 190 Fighting The Muscular Demon (5)

190 Fighting The Muscular Demon (5)

It was beyond the muscular humanoid demon’s expectation that his own wariness of the rune formations being thrown out by the unknown rune master had made him essentially fall into the runemaster’s trap.

Due to the placement of the pillars of dark flames that blocked his way and supposedly a trap to lure him into another disadvantageous position, turned out to be just another deadly trap that he had successfully failed to get out of due to his inability to sense the extra rune formations that were thrown before the rune formations were about to manifest themselves.

So when the muscular humanoid demon took a step back to dodge the single rune formation he saw with his two eyes, he failed to notice the other two that had activated behind his back.

The two rune formations that were almost placed directly behind the muscular humanoid demon then flashed before manifesting the spell contained inside them.

Just like before, the muscular humanoid demon didn’t plan to just take it lying down even though he had indeed fallen for the jet-black humanoid demon’s trick.

Though it seemed to be too late, the muscular humanoid demon had pride in his body’s strength as his physique was the one thing that he relied on most along with his bloodline power that was actually a very good complement for his strong physique.

So by pushing the muscles in his feet to the extreme, the muscular humanoid demon tried to once again gain some distance from the two rune formations that he failed to notice in advance.

However, the muscular humanoid demon wasn’t the only one who had learned something about his enemies from the fight. He had learned that his bloodline power could quite effectively deal with the dangerous dark flames that the jet-black humanoid demon could summon, but the jet-black humanoid demon, Blake, had also learned something.

Blake had learned the tendency of the muscular humanoid demon when seeing or more practically, what the muscular humanoid demon would do when he tried to dodge an attack.

.....

And that tendency was to use his feet to exert an explosive amount of force, literally making his body a blur for a second due to how fast his body was moving with his body’s strong physique.

However, Blake had learned of that, hence one of the rune formations that he threw was none other used precisely to counter that tendency.

The muscular humanoid demon might still be able to achieve what he was about to do if the rune formations that were used were the same rune formations that summoned the complex dark earth constructs that would take some time even after the spell manifested itself to be able to function properly.

But one of the two rune formations that he threw wasn’t a rune formation that manifested a darkness construct. Instead, it was a very simple, the basics of basic earth spell sets of runes, one that didn’t even use Blake’s knowledge of infusing darkness element to it. Simplifying it, it was just an ordinary basic earth elemental spell.

The ground beneath the muscular humanoid demon began to tremble for a split second before the muscular humanoid demon was even able to put strength to his feet.

And when the muscular humanoid demon was about to actually kick his feet against the ground, the ground beneath his feet had already stopped trembling, instead, what happened was his footing had instantaneously sunk to the ground below, making the muscular humanoid demon lose his anchor onto the ground. Hence losing the ability to generate any force to push his body out of the range of the rune formations.

With the ground under him sunk down as if a large section of the dirt had been pushed into the ground further, of course, the muscular humanoid demon’s body also went down along with the ground.

The muscular humanoid demon could use his wings to float and even fly out of the ground if he had expected that the rune formation contained a spell that would make the ground beneath him sink, but the muscular humanoid demon couldn’t have possibly known about that without a knowledge of runes.

And even if he had one, he still wouldn’t have the time to react or read the runes properly as the rune formations had gone undetected until the very last moment before they had finally decided to activate.

So not until his body really started to fall down, the muscular humanoid demon had not thought about using his wings.

It wouldn’t be too late for the muscular humanoid demon to use his wings to fly out of the hole. He had been used to having wings on his back for years, and unlike Blake that still had to half-consciously sent nether to his wings to activate them even after the times he spent learning and trying to use his wings proficiently, the muscular humanoid demon could easily control his wings as if it was his own fingers.

Meaning that the muscular humanoid demon would only take about a split second to send nether to his wings, making his body lighter, then flapping his wings to lift his body up.

And that would actually have worked perfectly if not for the fact that Blake had thrown another rune formation alongside the initial rune formation that was responsible for sinking the ground.

The timing that he threw the two rune formations was precise, with the earth sinking rune formation being thrown and activated first, letting the ground sink first before the second rune formation finally manifested itself.

As the wings of the muscular humanoid demon spread to the side and were about to move down to generate an uplifting force, the wings were suddenly restricted from moving back up.

And not only were his wings being prevented from moving back up but in fact, they had also even been dragged downward by an intense force that jerked his whole body down.

Without the ability to fight back against the downward force with his wings bound and his feet being tethered to nothing but air, something that he could not kick off, the muscular humanoid demon couldn’t resist his body being dragged downward.

And as his body moved closer to the ground, the restrictions that he felt only on his wings suddenly spread all over his body, starting from his back, to his face, even down to his feet.

And when the restricting force touched his face, the muscular humanoid demon finally learned what was the restricting force that had been pulling him down.

Dark matter, as dark as the night that didn’t exist in the first realm, yet existed in his, crossed his face as a rope-like sensation had crawled all over his body and restricted his muscular build.

Even just from a single glance, the muscular humanoid demon knew what those dark matter was from the sensation that held his body and the color of it. It was none other than darkness tendrils.

And from the restriction he felt all over his body, the muscular humanoid demon knew that more than a dozen of those darkness tendrils had latched themselves to his body.

The muscular humanoid demon knew that it would be impossibly hard for him to get out of the darkness tendrils’ grasp even with his strength if those darkness tendrils already had a good grasp on his body, completely pinning his body to the ground, essentially super gluing his body to the ground, preventing any kinds of movements or any significant muscle twitch that could affect his body’s position.

That wasn’t the situation yet and the muscular humanoid demon hadn’t abandoned all his hopes yet.

He was planning to once again use his explosive strength to forcefully extract his body out of the darkness tendrils’ grasp when any of his limbs touched the ground. Be it his hands or his feet, no matter which one it was, the muscular humanoid demon would use them to generate as much force as possible.

However, that little glimmer of hope he had suddenly disappeared when the muscular humanoid demon felt more, new sources of nether appeared beneath him, overlapping the existing darkness tendrils.

Meaning there would be even more spells manifesting when his body would barely touch the ground.

Blake knew how strong the muscular humanoid demon was, and hoping a set of his rune formations, despite having a good timing of activation and having succeeded in restricting most of the muscular humanoid demon’s body, was foolish for him even though he believed his own spells to not be mediocre.

So the second he saw the muscular humanoid demon’s body had fallen down the hole his second rune formation had created, Blake drew more demonic runes in the air, using the common way of casting spells, without rune formations, and just straight up casting spells with his fingers.

And with Blake’s speed that rivaled the humanoid demon mages from the muscular humanoid demon’s realm, Blake finished drawing the demonic runes in less than a second, making the spells manifest right when the muscular humanoid demon would hit the sunken ground.

And without any means of retaliating anymore, of course, the muscular humanoid demon wouldn’t be able to escape the clutches of even more darkness tendrils latching onto his body, putting more restricting force to his whole body, finally securing his body to the ground, preventing the muscular humanoid demon from making any movements other than twitching his toes and fingers.
