Chapter 248 - 248 Finishing The Evolution (2)

248 Finishing The Evolution (2)

No matter how magical it looked to Blake’s eyes, seeing someone casting a spell without a single rune, Blake didn’t spare the time to show his awe and instead bolstered his defense to prepare himself for the humanoid demon’s attack.

From the humanoid demon’s hand, the gathered darkness element finally made a solid construct as a darkness spike, a very similar one to the darkness spike that Blake had cast very frequently before he got the fiery nether bloodline power from Cyra as his main method of attack right now, appeared from the humanoid demon’s hand.

And it seemed to have the same characteristic as the ordinary darkness spike spell that Blake knew since it didn’t waste a single second to sprout from the humanoid demon’s hand and went straight into Blake’s darkness barrier spell.

The darkness spike had the same thickness as Blake’s darkness barrier spell. However, with the constant dwindling of the darkness element from the darkness barrier, the barrier could only clash against the darkness spike for so long before a hole was finally created in its body.

Feeling the sudden crack in his darkness elemental shield, Blake didn’t waste any time as he abandoned the whole shield and used his body to dodge and redirect the darkness spike instead.

Using the advantage of his dark earth armor that could hardly be damaged by anything random in the first demon realm. Using the tough body of the dark earth armor, Blake hit the incoming darkness spike hard enough to change the direction it was currently going to the empty air above his head.

And added with his kicking against the ground right the instant his barrier failed, Blake could dodge the single darkness spike rather easily.

Blake had begun thinking of his own counter attacks to launch at the humanoid demon when he dodged, but when he noticed the darkness element that gathered around the humanoid demon’s body had not dissipated yet despite the darkness spike had been manifested into the world.

And soon, Blake realized that more of the darkness elements were gathering once again on the humanoid demon’s body.

.....

But instead of only at one spot like earlier, Blake now noticed several spots where the darkness elements had gathered around the humanoid demon.

It felt rather similar to one of his spells, one that he dreaded using without the proper preparations, but the one that the humanoid demon was currently using was at a much smaller scale. From 3 different spots, all around the humanoid demon’s hands, three darkness constructs manifested into the world.

And just as Blake had guessed from the similarities of the behavior of the darkness element from before, from those 3 spots, 3 darkness spikes were manifested into the world. And of course, all three of them were aimed in Blake’s direction.

‘Shit!’ Blake’s shield had been abandoned after the first darkness spike, and Blake had nothing in hand to diminish the power of the three earth spikes that shot toward him. He could only do it before because the power of the darkness spike had been weakened by his barrier, if not for it, then Blake wouldn’t be able to match the speed of the darkness spike.

Robus might be able to do it, but his physique stat was nowhere near Robus, and doing a feat that only Robus could achieve was impossible for the current him without significant preparation first.

So when the three darkness spikes came straight at him and Blake had lost his shield, Blake instantly made a decision to abandon all of his defense and put all his effort into evading instead.

Now, using the ability he got from Cyra, Blake shoved as much fiery nether as possible from his heart to both his upper limbs and bottom limbs. Creating 4 simultaneous explosions that forcefully jerked his body away from his current location.

The sudden explosion did its job as it propelled Blake back faster than his own speed could do for him, saving his literal ass from being stabbed from the front by the darkness spikes.

Well, his dark earth armor would actually prevent something like that from happening, but still, a full-powered darkness spike would definitely leave more than a scratch mark on his dark earth armor and might cause a little numbness to his body.

With Blake having more distance with the humanoid demon and him already learned about the humanoid demon’s ability, albeit a little of it, Blake didn’t waste a single second contemplating as he instantly chose to back off to the safe distance where the humanoid demon didn’t start sending him barrages of spells.

Blake had a bad premonition that the humanoid demon would now start attacking him incessantly since he had started a proper fight with it. Fortunately, his foreboding turned out to be incorrect as the humanoid demon did the exact same thing as before, just walking slowly in Blake’s direction without casting a single spell or even speeding up his walk.

‘That was certainly unbelievable…’ Blake thought to himself as he kept his eyes on the humanoid demon and kept his feet moving, making sure that he didn’t lose sight of the dangerous humanoid demon and his distance and the thing wasn’t getting nearer.

‘Casting darkness elemental spells without drawing a single rune… Isn’t that a cheati-‘ Blake’s thoughts were cut off just before he finished it as he realized something.

‘It’s ability… Isn’t it very similar to Cyra’s…?’ Blake did not notice it earlier since he was in survival mode, but now that his mind was free enough to have slight idle thoughts, Blake finally realized it.

The humanoid demon’s ability looked very similar to Cyra’s. The only stark difference between the two was the difference in elements the two were using. While Cyra used to use the fire elements, bending it to her will and casting spells without a single rune, the humanoid demon did the same but using the darkness element.

Blake had not seen any other spells of the humanoid demon other than the darkness spikes, but his theory about the humanoid demon being some type of darkness elemental variant was already a strong guess in his mind.

With that information, he knew that fighting the humanoid demon wouldn’t be easy. Even harder than the fight that he had with Cyra before she had her darkness element affinity raised and turned her red fiery flames to the current dark flames.

Blake wasn’t underestimating Cyra or the fire elements in general. He knew well about the fire element that it was one of the destructive elements that could easily erase the body of his victims just by getting a little part of their body burnt by it.

However, in the case of the fire element, it was an element that focused on attack. If Blake made sure that he dodged well and focused on evading the attacks, he would be able to sooner or later find the gap that he needed to slip in his own attacks.

Now that his enemy was a darkness elemental variant that could make darkness constructs at will, Blake’s fight wouldn’t be as simple as only focusing on his evasion and defense.

Just as he learned before, the darkness element was a very versatile one. It could be used as an attack and also as a defense. Make a darkness dome and it became a large-scale defense spell. Make a highly condensed darkness elemental bullet or dozens of darkness spikes, then it would be a very dangerous offense spell. Heck, it could even be used as a restrictive spell if the darkness elements were made into darkness tendrils.

With these factors coming into play in a fight meant that the humanoid demon would be able to defend against Blake’s attacks if he threw the humanoid demon one, caught Blake in a trap if he was careless and restricted him, or throw in an attack if Blake left a gap in his defense.

Well of course, the fight might as well be impossibly hard if the one that Blake was fighting had the same intelligence, capabilities, and battle experience as himself or Robus.

However, from the short exchange that Blake had earlier, Blake knew that it wasn’t the case. At least for now. He didn’t know what the capabilities of the humanoid demon were, but the fact that it only threw darkness spikes, albeit three of them at the same time after setting up with a single darkness spike, Blake guessed that the humanoid demon wasn’t as dangerous if it had used proper strategy.

If it were him, Blake would probably do the same with the initial darkness spike, but instead of casting three darkness spikes, he would instead cast darkness tendrils to catch him instead of throwing more darkness spikes.

Of course, Blake could still dodge with his dark flame explosions, but it was still a better choice compared to the humanoid demon’s decision.

And what was more important was one other factor. A very huge advantage. One that Blake would never have in a real fight against other demons.

It was the fact that the humanoid demon was not actively trying to attack him from a distance as it only walked slowly toward him.

With a relatively passive enemy, Blake had already thought of several ways he could make use of this advantage.

And one of them was using a very simple method of hitting the hardest he could from a distance.

Fortunately, different from Robus who would have to get close to do that, Blake was the exact opposite of the huge gorilla, and doing that from a distance was his specialty.
