"Is anyone there?" Li Huowang's shout echoed in the extremely empty environment.

Extremely confused, he looked around to the left and right and found himself standing on a wooden bridge with nothing but darkness in every direction.

Li Huowang took a deep breath and continued walking forward, the wooden bridge creaking beneath his feet.

After walking for some time, he felt something moving in the distance. Li Huowang's body shook and he hurried towards it.

But when he finally saw what it was, his body froze. It was Li Zhi's protective deity, which had transformed from a small clay sculpture to a figure three times larger than Li Huowang. Its eyes were completely white and terrifying.

"This isn't a wooden bridge! I'm standing on someone else's roof beam!" Li Huowang realized.

The protective deity's layers of red string burst open, and its clay hands reached out towards Li Huowang, dropping dust as they moved.

Li Huowang turned to run, but a giant red hood instantly covered him, completely enveloping his body.

"Don't look..." A delicate and ethereal female voice spoke.

Li Huowang woke up in a cold sweat, looking around and realizing that there was no protective deity or red hood. It had all been a dream.

He looked at Bai Lingmiao next to him, pulled the blanket over her shoulder, got out of bed, and opened the window to look outside.

The moon was still in the sky, and it didn't seem like he had slept for long.

Looking at the black tiles outside, Li Huowang remembered what had happened yesterday.

The Twin Soul with the red hood had clearly wanted to tell him something, but Li Zhi had interrupted.

"What did she want to say? Why wouldn't she let me see the protective deity?" Li Huowang furrowed his brow, deep in thought.

The Twin Soul had always been silent, not eating or drinking. Compared to the exceptionally easy-going Li Zhi, she was very mysterious.

For her to suddenly speak to him, there must be some special meaning behind it.

"What could she possibly have to tell me secretly, that she can't let Li Zhi know? Does Li Zhi want to harm me?"

He had planned to try jumping the deity with Li Zhi, but with this sudden turn of events, Li Huowang hesitated. They weren't even that close.

He had thought about finding another jumper, but even if he found one, there was no guarantee that they would be more trustworthy.

If he was going to look for someone, he might as well look for someone he knew.

"I'll ask the Twin Soul alone. That's the only way to figure out what's going on." Li Huowang made up his mind.

He looked at the dark sky again, put on his blood-red Taoist robe, and walked out of the house towards Li Zhi's nearby home.

Walking silently in the dark house, Li Huowang made his way towards Li Zhi's residence.

The door slowly creaked open, and a small stone with a faint glow bounced inside. The dim fluorescent light illuminated the room. Li Zhi, the great god, was lying on the bed snoring with his limbs splayed out, while Twin Soul, covered by a red blanket, stood upright beside the bed like a piece of clothing.

Hearing the sound, Twin Soul turned the red blanket towards Li Huowang silently, standing there as if waiting for something.

Seeing this scene in the middle of the night, Li Huowang felt a chill down his spine.

"Do I really have to go out alone with this thing now?" Li Huowang hesitated.

But thinking about what she had said to him, Li Huowang finally made up his mind and gestured with his hand.

Twin Soul actually moved, slowly floating towards the door like a ghost.

As she walked out, Li Huowang stepped back, one step at a time, until he was outside the yard.

The hazy moonlight from the half-moon in the sky slightly eased Li Huowang's extreme nervousness.

Twin Soul, covered by the red blanket, slowly leaned in again, so close that Li Huowang's words could make the red blanket sway slightly. "What did you want to say yesterday?"

The long black nails slowly lifted and, to Li Huowang's surprise, gently cut the fingertip of her other hand.

Then, using the dark red blood flowing out of her finger, she began to write slowly on the red blanket.

"Be...careful...you...are...Xin...Su...Xian..."

"What are you guys doing!" With a loud scolding, the black blood on the red blanket quickly absorbed back in.

Li Huowang had just stepped back two steps when he saw Li Zhi, with a gloomy expression, walk barefoot to Twin Soul's side and tightly embrace her waist. "What are you trying to do? This is my wife!!"

Hearing movement from the room, Li Huowang quickly thought and said, "I didn't do anything, I was just curious about my sister-in-law's appearance."

Li Zhi looked at Li Huowang with a guarded expression, as if asserting his dominance. He lifted a corner of the red blanket with his hand and put his head inside, kissing Twin Soul loudly.

In the swaying red blanket, Li Huowang vaguely saw something.

"Are those...scales?"

Then Li Zhi pulled his head out of the red blanket and licked the yellow-green mucus at the corner of his mouth.

"Remember! This is my wife, you're still single, whose fault is that? It's your own fault for being a Taoist! If you're capable, why not leave the temple and get married!"

Without waiting for Li Huowang to explain, he turned around and walked back into the room, holding Twin Soul's pale hand with black long nails.

Scales and yellow-green mucus kept flashing in his mind. What exactly was Twin Soul?

When Li Huowang returned to the room, he found that Bai Lingmiao had already been awakened, kneeling on the bed rubbing her eyes sleepily.

"What's wrong? Did something happen?"

Li Huowang didn't say anything and blew out the lit oil lamp. "Nothing, go back to sleep."

"Be careful? I'm Xin Su Xian?"

Lying on the bed, Li Huowang began to ponder Twin Soul's words. "What is Xin Su Xian? What does she want me to be careful of?"The next day, when Li Huowang woke up and came to the lobby, he saw Li Zhi drinking porridge.

Li Zhi was holding Twin Soul tightly with his right hand and saying something to his fellow villager.

"Fellow villager, thank you for taking care of me. How about this, I'll help you invite a protective deity for only thirty copper coins. What do you think?"

Li Zhi stopped talking when he saw Li Huowang, and his expression was no longer as friendly as before.
