Chapter 453 - A Messed-Up Future

Chapter 453: A Messed-Up Future

West Street, Hill City, Newborn Territory, Light Kingdom.

At that moment, a 20-year-old Light Knight arrived in front of a random Inn and walked inside. He wore leather armor over his linen shirt, had messy brown hair, almond green eyes, a square face, and was around 175 cm high. Currently, he held an old bag in his left hand and a long sword in his right hand.

He was a crystal knight sent by the Light Church of Sacred Town to deliver letters to Bishop Victor.

As he stepped inside, the people inside the Inn turned their gaze towards the entrance and looked at him curiously.

After a quick look, the people around the table quickly returned to their business. But the Innkeeper, who had been observing him, cleared his throat and asked,

"Light Knight, do you need something?"

Meanwhile, the crystal knight, whose face revealed he was a bit of a loner, nodded and said,

"Yes. I came here to deliver some letter to Father Victor."

"Bishop? He still hadn't returned from the Bard Woods. Wait over there for a while. He'll come back before the dusk arrives."

Saying so, the Innkeeper then returned to his work. Meanwhile, the Light Knight sat at the nearest table, turned his gaze towards the opened window, and was about to look outside but suddenly stopped. At that moment, he overheard a conversation.

"Did you hear the rumor? It seems a black sun descended from the sky a few days ago and erased a town from the map!" A bald man said while gulping a mug of ale.

Meanwhile, his companions shook their heads and started mocking him.

'It's the same rumor again!' In truth, the Light Knight heard of this rumor multiple times during his journey and felt suspicious of it. Although the masses might've exaggerated the rumor, he knew that a part of it might've some truth in it.

While he was in muse, he suddenly saw a 30-year-old young man walking inside and soon widened his eyes.

The young man had blonde hair and brown eyes, a round face, and was around 180 cm high. He was clad in a worn but elegant and expensive dress that included a long, blue-black coat with white fur lining and a leather belt with a blue-black stone at the center. On his left shoulder was a silver circlet, and a short beard was on his face. There was also a unique golden bracelet that appeared in his left hand and looked sacred.

He was none other than Bishop Victor!

Upon seeing him, the Light Knight got stunned for a moment and stood up in a hurry. He then straightened his back and thumped his chest before greeting him.

Then, he took out a bunch of letters and gave them to Bishop Victor.

"Priestess Caroline told me to give these letters, Father. She said that all these letters came from the Aetas Kingdom."

Meanwhile, Victor caught the bundle of letters and nodded.

"I've been waiting for these letters. You can stay here for a day or two to rest before returning." Without waiting for the Light Knight's reply, he took a step forward and proceeded to walk towards the left side spiral staircase.

He soon went upstairs through the spiral staircase, reached the second floor, and went towards his rented room. Within a few seconds, he arrived in front of a wooden door, took out an iron key from his coat, and inserted the key into the keyhole.

Then, he gripped the doorknob, pushed it harder, and at the same time, twisted the iron key to unlock the door.

A second later, a clicking sound came from the other side, followed by a screeching noise. Without minding the noise, Victor took a step forward and walked in.

The room was relatively small and decorated with a bed, a table, and a large wooden trunk. Victor soon arrived near the wooden bed, sat on it, and shifted his attention towards the bunch of sealed letters.

Even though it was just three months since his transmigration, his improvement during this time was immense.

'I've already become an Expert Knight and also got my hands on the first divine artifact!' While muttering, he subconsciously shifted his gaze towards his left hand and looked at the golden bracelet.

It was called the 'Band of Judgement.'

It also had a unique name called 'Karmic Bangle.'

It can show the opponent's past crimes and let the criminal experience an eternal nightmare in a separate hellish world! Those who got judged and banished into that world would never return. In the past, an evil organization member obtained this artifact, learned out more about its true potential, and sent his enemies into this mysterious world. Unfortunately, he encountered a powerful demon sorcerer named Bryson and was killed even before using this artifact's ability on the opponent.

In truth, Victor had a plan to how to use that powerful demon sorcerer's strength.

But he wouldn't dare to contact him recklessly now.

'I need to find other artifacts first and make up for this artifact's weakness.'

Indeed, this artifact had a weakness.

To activate this artifact, one needed to recite the activation incantation!

Alas, Victor didn't put too much thought into the weakness. As long as he obtains the other few artifacts, he would become an invincible knight in the whole world!

Shaking his head, he hurriedly took out a letter, opened its seal, and started to read.

The first letter came from the Aetas Kingdom's royal capital. In that letter, the church members mentioned the previous battle in detail and even added Prince Julius's motive.

"Oh? So, the prince and Duke are still alive, huh. Nice." A smile appeared on his face.

'But I should tell the spies to monitor his daily activities. There is a high chance that he might've gotten enslaved by Daniel's spell.' He thought to himself.

He also read two more detailed letters from Head Deacon and learned that both were about secret places. After some thought, he placed them separately and took out the fourth letter.

Then, he tore it open and started to read.

"Oh? Bishop Blake's letter?" He showed a surprised look on his face and continued to read. But just as he read the second sentence, he couldn't help but show a doubtful look on his face.

'Baron Daniel left the town? Moreover, he killed the foreign knights after an emotional breakdown and ran away? Wait! Emotional breakdown? Also, he ran away? Impossible! That guy is a demon who killed thousands of Duke's elite knights in seconds. There is no way he would run away from this weakling. Also, who are these foreign knights?' Unfortunately, there was no information about them in the letter. Instead, Bishop Blake apologized for his carelessness and mentioned that he had already taken complete control over the Grime Plains!

As Victor continued to read the letter, he couldn't help but get confused inside.

"What the hell happened? Did my single warning to Duke Michael change the whole future?" A frown appeared on his face.

He then took out another letter and soon saw the Holy Seal on it.

'A letter from the Holy See?' He got startled a little.

As he read the letter, he noticed that it came from a Cardinal named Smith.

Cardinal mentioned a saint knight's encounter with a mysterious individual in that letter and even attached the Saint Knight's letter to the Holy See.

The reason why he sent this letter was mainly due to his warning about the Flame Demon.

Indeed, Victor had long submitted a detailed report about Baron Daniel's demonic abilities and even included some of his possible future actions. When Baron Daniel attacked Duke's castle, many Light Church members got shocked inside and finally read Victor's report. This Cardinal Smith was one among them.

'But I didn't expect to attract an Awaken's attention so soon.'

He soon opened the Saint Knight's letter, read it carefully, and soon turned serious.

'A mysterious person visited this Saint Knight's town and erased his memories? He also created a black sun and destroyed Norwich town and its surroundings? It's Baron Daniel's spell!' He read more about what happened to the town and soon heaved a heavy sigh as he learned that most citizens evacuated before the explosion.

Victor continued to read all other letters and finally turned grim.

'Something is wrong. It was as if this Baron seemed to have anticipated my movements! Is it because of my earlier actions?' He couldn't help but get anxious inside.

'I can't predict his next actions!' He felt threatened inside. Although the other party knew nothing about his real identity, he didn't dare to be careless.

'It's better to hide my identity and strengthen myself first. In the end, Baron has no choice but to come to the Holy See. When he arrives, I'll bury him in the holy ground!' A cold look appeared on his face.

Without any delay, he stood up from the bed, grabbed all the important stuff, and stored them inside his newly obtained space ring.. Then, he waited for the darkness to descend and stealthily left the Inn.
