CH 127

It was a windless, sunny winter morning. The sun shone from the east, lighting up one side of the stone lion at the gate of the county government office. It divided the stone lion into two halves, one light and one dark.

The doorman outside the county government gate leaned against the wall and let out a long yawn. He rubbed his eyes, and saw Head Commissioner Tan's dog slipping out. It was grabbing the stone lion's pier, and struggled to climb up.

Pity that its legs were too short to climb up.

The doorman watched Tang Tang struggle for a long time and was finally moved by its perseverance. He stepped forward and picked up Tang Tang and placed him directly onto the stone lion's back.

Tang Tang stabilized itself on the lion's back. While holding the stone lion's head with two front paws, Tang Tang raised its head and roared happily.  Flaunting his arrogance as the ‘one on top’, looking quite majestic and proud.

The doorman stood back again.

In the distance, a man and a woman were walking toward the county government office. Even from a distance once could tell they were a pair of good looking people. The woman was guiding a little boy with her hand. The man tried to hold the woman's other hand, but the woman hesitated probably out of embarrassment.

The family of three gradually approached. When they were about to reach the gate of the county government office, they suddenly stopped.

The man stretched out his hand and hid the woman and child behind him. He blocked them in a protective posture, with a look of wariness on his face.

On the nearby roofs, several people poked their heads out at the same time; ready to act on command. The man raised his finger and made a gesture, and the people on the roof shrank back into the shadow.

The doorman didn't notice any of these things. Because his attention was all on Tang Tang. This dog was Head Commissioner Tan's precious darling. If it fell and hurt itself, the County Magistrate will scold him to death.

Confused, the woman asked, "What's wrong?"

The man looked at a stone lion in front of him and moved his gaze to the top of its head.

On top of the mighty stone lion’s head was a small furry head. Its two front paws cushioned its chin, the little thing was staring at them with a pair of clear and bright eyes.

The woman finally noticed Tang Tang and exclaimed, "Wow, what a beautiful cat!"

The man made a 囧 face. It's not a cat at all, it's a lion! He wanted to explain, but he was afraid of scaring her. He stared at the lion and thought to himself: To actually use a real lion to guard the front gate, it seemed that this small county government office was really unfathomable. Tang Tianyuan, what have you done...

The woman's exclamation attracted the doorman's attention. The doorman wanted to explain Tangtang's species attributes, but was distracted by their appearances. This couple were too good-looking and had an imposing aura, almost like deities. The same goes for the child. The child’s face was prettier than any paintings the doorman’s ever seen. And with their luxurious clothing, these people looked far from ordinary people.

At this moment, Tan Lingyin came out from the county government office. "Lao Sun, have you seen Tang Tang?"

The doorman came back to his senses and pointed to the stone lion. "Right there."

Tan Lingyin walked to the stone lion. When she saw Tang Tang, she put her hands on her hips and feigned anger, "You bad little thing! Sneaking out as soon as no one is paying attention! What will happen if you scare someone?"

Tang Tang's ears drooped; he knew he was wrong. It wanted to come down, but unfortunately, it didn’t know how...

Tan Lingyin opened her arms. "Come on, jump."

Tang Tang didn’t have the courage to. The little lion wanted to climb down step by step, but unfortunately the lion's back was too slippery. Tang Tang slipped as soon as he took a step, causing the little lion to step back quickly.

Tang Tang’s haste caused it to accidentally slip its foot and fall from the other side of the lion's back...

The man who was still on alert just now also saw how this lion was of little threat. He reacted very quickly and managed to catch Tang Tang. He then handed it to Tan Lingyin.

"Thank you!" Tan Lingyin hugged Tang Tang.

The woman couldn't help but say, "You cat...is really big..."

"Ah, this is not a cat. This is a dog." Tan Lingyin blatantly lied with a straight face.

The man frowned when he heard this.

Tan Lingyin didn't notice this due to her nearsightedness. When she got closer, she realized that the man and woman were quite the lookers. Then, she looked down at the child. My gosh, what a cutie!

The child looked about the same age as her brother Xiaobao, and looked much better than Xiaobao. His small face was like a tender soft boiled egg. At such a young age, the bridge of his nose was already quite high; it greatly increased the vitality of the rest of his facial features. His eyes were particularly clear. Because of his long and dense eyelashes, it contoured the little boy’s eyes, as if they were drawn with charcoal pencils. They were delicate but not feminine. The corners of his eyes were raised slightly, so it made him have quite the authoritative gaze!

Tan Lingyin was more interested in this child than the two adults.

The child glanced at Tang Tang in Tan Lingyin's arms, and then smiled at Tan Lingyin.

Tan Lingyin's heart almost melted. She looked at him stupidly, like a love-struck fool.

The child pointed at Tang Tang and blinked, "Can I touch it?"

"Touch, touch however much you want!" Tan Lingyin replied as she bent down and placed Tang Tang in front of him.

The boy touched Tang Tang's head, and smiled at Tan Lingyin contentedly. Probably due to shyness, when he smiled, the boy pursed his lips and did not show his teeth.

Weirdly enough, Tang Tang was strangely obedient and docile at the moment, just like a cat.

The man cupped his hands together as a salute as he introduced himself to Tan Lingyin. "Young Lady, my surname is Ji. This is my wife and my son, whom you can call Ruyi. We are here to..."

"Make a complaint." Tan Lingyin snapped her fingers and rushed to answer. When strangers came to the county government office's gate, nine times out of ten they were here to make a complaint.
