Chapter 25 Small Talk

Opening the bathroom door just enough for him to be able to stick his arm out of it, Xavier felt around on the ground outside the bathroom and grabbed the clothes that Angela had left there for him.

He was expecting the worst, but upon seeing the clothes she had bought for him, he was relieved.

There was a grey set of jogging bottoms and a plain black t-shirt, along with some underwear and socks.

It all fit perfectly and highlighted his physique, while was also breathable and comfortable.

Putting it on, he pushed back his curly light brown hair after cleaning up the bathroom as well as he could, not wanting to leave any mess for Angela after she was kind enough to let him shower in her apartment.

He was pretty sure there would be public showers in the gym or somewhere on the first floors, so she didn't have to let him shower there.

And yet she did and even bought him clothes.

Leaving the bathroom, he was carrying his old clothes as he walked over to the trash and threw them away.

There was no point trying to salvage them and he also didn't want to have to carry them back home, so it was best just to throw them away.

Angela was looking in the fridge for something to eat, and going over to her, Xavier thanked her deeply and it was clear he was being very genuine.

"I said don't worry about it and I was thinking we should get some pizza."

"Pizza? I thought you were a health fanatic?"

"Coming from the one that stretched for like an hour. I just like to eat healthy, but I deserve a cheat meal every once in a while."

"Okay, sure."

He had gotten over the embarrassment of needing her to pay for him and would repay her one way or another, so there was no need to feel guilty.

"What toppings?"

"I don't mind. I'm just hungry," he answered, as his stomach growled.

Laughing, they ordered a bunch of food as they watched TV together and just relaxed.

Angela had the rest of the week off work after the incident, so didn't have anything better to do, while Xavier had to stay for the rest of the night until he was dismissed by Bella.

That left the two of them both in the apartment together with nothing to do, so the two of them became each other's entertainment.

Xavier hadn't watched many shows and his entertainment of choice was reading novels, which shocked Angela, who began recommending him so many shows.

Time flew quickly, and it wasn't long before Bella returned to the apartment and was surprised by how chummy the two of them had become.

Initially, she thought they wouldn't get along in the slightest, but seeing them on the sofa beside each other, they looked like two very close friends.

"You're early Bella," said Angela, not expecting her to be back at that time.

"Yeah, I was let off early today. But it seems as though you two have gotten close."

Angela didn't get embarrassed, flustered, or defensive like Bella was expecting as she answered, "Yup, we did."

Surprised, Bella joined them and was hungry as she grabbed a slice of pizza.

They made some small talk and the three of them were very relaxed, with Xavier feeling comfortable and as though he was at home.

"Let me check your bandages," she said after they had finished eating.

Xavier's face dropped as he cleared his throat.

"What?" she asked, seeing his reaction.

"Um... I kinda took them off," he answered with a wry smile.

"Show me," she instructed worriedly.

Taking off his shirt, she was angry to see that he actually had taken off his bandages, but seeing that his stitches hadn't completely opened and that his wounds seemed to be recovering well, she calmed down.

"I will redo your stitches tomorrow, as they seemed to have opened slightly. Are you sure you spent the whole day in here?"

"Y-Yes," he answered, quite unconvincingly.

Looking at Angela expecting her to tell the truth, Bella didn't receive the answer she was looking for, "He did stay at home, and I made sure that he did."

"If you say so, but you need to stay here for a few more days at least, and you must make sure to rest. Any physical activity could open up your wounds."

Hearing that, Angela, who watched him run 13 miles and fly kick a giant man, had a warped smile on her face and was once again reminded of how reckless and monstrous Xavier was.
