Chapter 102 2 Days Later

Something completely unexpected happened...

A fight that Xavier had been almost completely sure about the result of, and had also placed a large bet on, turned out completely opposite to what he had expected.

But if it had been a complete upset, and both fighters put their all into the fight, putting on a great battle for everyone to watch, he couldn't have complained since losing was part of the game.

However, he could see that one fighter had been holding back ever so slightly, almost as if he wanted to lose and was trying to do so, which he eventually ended up accomplishing.

But despite seeing the fighter holding back and losing money, Xavier just smiled under his mask and wasn't rattled by the additional variable.

He was naive to have expected the Wolf Gang to not be involved in match-fixing, and he was doing pretty well with his bets up until that point, on track to triple his money, but now he'd have to rethink his betting strategy.

However, he was by no means fazed or intimidated as he continued placing large bets and working his mind and instincts to their maximum, wanting to make sure he tripled his money by the end of the night.

And he managed to do so, overcoming all odds and accounting for all variables as he placed his bets, even slightly going over.

It was unbelievable that he had been able to make most of his bets and leave after tripling his money as if nothing had happened, but that was what he needed to do.

Xavier had to meet all the targets he set himself and hopefully even exceed them, as with all those that were starting to rely on him to do so, failing no longer became something he even considered.

And even if he were to fail, he'd find another way and keep at it, not willing to let himself or others down.

However, after one night of successful betting, he knew that the next two wouldn't be as easy as the money he'd be gambling with and risking was much greater, but that was for him to worry about when it came to it.

At that moment, all Xavier wanted to do was rest after a long day, and heading home, he found Connor sleeping where his mother would usually sleep.

"I guess mother and the triplets are at Connor's place," he mumbled as he got cleaned up and ready to sleep.

He missed his mother, but couldn't afford to slow down or take any breaks for the rest of the week until his mission to take down the two small gangs was completed.

If they didn't prepare properly, one of those that trusted in him and dropped everything to join him could end up getting hurt or even losing their life, and Xavier couldn't let that happen.

They needed to be swift and decisive in their attacks, and when it came down to it, Xavier had a plan of action in mind.

However, before that, he still had a few things to sort out.

And with that in mind, he quickly dozed off, and as soon as Connor got up in the morning, Xavier also did.

-

Any sudden movement alerted Xavier, who couldn't help but be on edge ever since acquiring the gangster instincts unless he felt completely protected, which Connor noticed.

The sudden movement and speed at which Xavier woke up were not normal, but he looked past it and made them some breakfast before they parted ways to take care of their own responsibilities.

Connor had prepared the same things he had prepared for Xavier the previous morning in advance, and after thanking him for it, Xavier was off once again and said he'd see him again for training later.

And once again, he headed to Zack's house...

-

2 days passed in the blink of an eye and in those 2 days, Xavier hadn't stopped moving and doing something productive and had managed to avoid his mother.

Zack had told his grandmother that he wouldn't be attending school for a week and that Xavier would be hanging around with him in his room quite a lot to keep things transparent with her.

And she was reluctant to agree to let them do so, but was glad that Zack had a friend over, and one that seemed around his age, while Xavier was also very good at sweet talking.

Since Zack had now introduced him to her as a friend, he could actually speak to her and treated the old lady with great respect and acted like a docile youth before her, which Zack appreciated, but was weirded out by.

Xavier was a different person when he was in front of the old lady compared to when he was in Zack's room, trying to get all the information and things that he needed, but Zack was the same when he was working.

And with both of them being individuals that focused wholeheartedly on what they were passionate about, they were able to quickly work on things together.

Well, admittedly, Zack was doing all the electronic stuff with Xavier not even trying to keep up with the kid anymore, but Xavier was scouting around based on the information he got and in the 2 days that had passed had met all his objectives.

He had found 2 suitable places for dojos, and one was previously used for boxing and another for karate, but they were good enough and could always be refurbished.

They had also been closed down and the previous owners were willing to both sell and rent, which was good for Xavier, who wanted to temporarily rent the places but buy everything they used once the money started coming in.

Real estate was one of the biggest ways to get power, wealth and influence, so it's never too early to start, as long as he acquired the funds to do so, and it was best to own the places he planned on using regularly.

So with that in mind, he sent Sam the location of the boxing dojo he secured and said that would be the gathering place for him and his unit, and did the same with the other dojo and Connor.

He had already secured deals with the owners and said they'd place a deposit by the end of the week, which he truly would do once Xavier finished his betting mission, as the mission required him to re-gamble all the money he earned the night before.

Because of that, despite having a large bag of cash, he was down to his last dollars and everyone else was also struggling with money after giving money to Xavier.

However, they just needed to keep it together for 2 days and everyone was enduring without voicing any complaints.

-

In those 2 days, Xavier also found a suitable small run-down building that could house both Karim and Zack's units, and it would work well that way since they'd work closely together a lot anyway.

The building was owned by an old man who lived on the top floor of the building and used to run an arcade on the bottom floor, as well as rent the middle floor to a telecom agency.

After he could no longer physically run the arcade anymore and the telecom agency shut down, he was even considering selling the building to realtors who kept hounding him.

However, while he was getting harassed by the men in suits who had been pressuring him for months to sell them his building at an extortionate price, Xavier showed up and scared them off.

Of course, he couldn't use force against realtors, but beat them at their own game and with a simple glare, he was able to get them to back off, but they'd always be back.

Unless the old man decided to make a deal with the sketchy-looking youth who suddenly showed up and helped him back into his flat on the top floor of his building.

There was no lift and getting up the stairs was becoming a more and more difficult task for the old man, who wanted nothing more than to live out the last of his days in the building that brought back so many memories.

His father used to run the arcade, and it was also where he had met his future wife, who already sadly passed on, while he also didn't have anywhere else that he wanted to go.

And hearing his story, Xavier was even more infuriated by the realtors, who merely wanted to tear down the building and rebuild a new block of apartments to sell.

Of course, they were after money, which was understandable, but the underhanded methods that they were using were horrible and apparently they had even gone as far as to cut his water and electricity at times.

But since the old man lived alone and didn't have a phone, he didn't have anyone to call or help him, which forced him to have to climb down the stairs and try to sort out the problem.

So, to solve his problem and also to give him another way to make money, Xavier had a proposition for him.

He would rent out the bottom two floors to him and he'd also get those that use the floors to run any errands for the old man and take care of him if needed.

Xavier even promised to sort out those realtors that were harassing him, but in return, he'd have to not declare any of their transactions and never go onto the floors he was renting out without permission.

The old man certainly had no reason to refuse, but was still reluctant.

It was only after Xavier reassured him that they'd take care of the building that he agreed, and so Xavier found a building that killed 2 birds with one stone.

However, of course, there were always more things to deal with...
