Chapter 18

Mu Qianyue merely cast a bland glance at Nalan Jie, before retracting her gaze. Marry him? Meh, in that case, she would rather marry Nalan Jing. At least Nalan Jing was more pleasant to look at.

Seeing Mu Qianyue refuse his kind intentions to help, Nalan Jie felt an irritation surge inside of him. He continued to send a voice transmission: ‘If later you realize that the blind man is unable to satisfy you, don’t come crying to me.’

Ignoring Nalan Jie, Mu Qianyue looked up at the man on the throne, the man who wielded the most power. In a calm voice that exuded a detached vibe, she said, “I’m willing to marry Prince Jing.”

She could clearly sense a number of highly-skilled experts hidden in the dark. If she refused to comply, her grandfather would certainly defy Nalan Zheng’s decree. If that should happen, Nalan Zheng would have a legitimate reason to punish her grandfather. This could possibly lead to the obliteration of the entire Defender Marquis Manor!

That was why she had no choice but to accept this arrangement. But then Nalan Jing had simple and pure thoughts. Moreover, with his blindness, he wouldn’t pose as an obstruction in her cultivation and refining of pills and concocting poison.

“Hmph!” Nalan Jie furiously flicked his sleeves and sat back down upon hearing her assent.

“Rou’er, how can you push your older sister into the fire pit!” Mu Hong was trembling all over from anger. He never expected Mu Yurou to say something like this. Would Yue’er be happy if she were to marry Nalan Jing?

“Grandfather, how can you speak like this of Prince Jing? Although he indeed is blind, you can’t call it a fire pit. It’s perfectly appropriate for Sister to marry him. Prince Jing is 19 years of age and has yet to marry now. When Sister marries him, she will be his Primary Consort and enjoy an abundance of wealth,” Mu Yurou said with an innocent look.

“Y-You…” Mu Hong’s eyes suddenly widened. As the anger surged up to his heart, he vomited a large mouthful of blood and collapsed.

“Grandfather!” Mu Yurou turned pale from fright. If anything were to happen to Mu Hong in Golden Phoenix Palace, she would be labeled unfilial for driving her grandfather to his grave. She was so startled that she hurriedly ran up and cried with an expression of grief, “Grandfather, what happened to you…”

“My loyal deputy!” Nalan Zheng was equally flustered. Mu Hong was the Defender Marquis

Not only was he loyal towards Phoenix Shadow Nation, more importantly, he had strong capabilities that deterred the enemy states from invading. If something were to happen to him, he would have to live in fear of being dethroned. Since all the ministers were here at the banquet, naturally there were plenty of imperial physicians around. Nalan Zheng immediately ordered one of them to attend to Mu Hong.

That imperial physician walked up and lifted Mu Hong’s eyelids, then checked his pulse. A moment later, he said with a solemn expression, “Your Majesty, pardon me for my incompetence. General Mu has suffered a severe injury previously which damaged his lungs. And right now, the anger has aggravated his heart. I’m afraid…”

Everyone was shocked to hear his words.

Mu Yurou’s pretty face instantly turned pale!

“Get lost!” Seeing Mu Hong’s face turn increasingly blue, Mu Qianyue’s countenance changed. She walked forward and shoved away the pretentious Mu Yurou, swiftly placing her fingers upon his wrist to read his pulse. She gently furrowed her brows. It was true that her grandfather had suffered a severe injury previously, and although on the surface he looked like he had recovered from it, in actual fact the damage to his lungs was severe, and the telltale signs of rotting were beginning to show. Today, having been angered by Mu Yurou so severely, his condition was aggravated.

The imperial physician was spot-on about all of this, but there was nothing he could do about it.

Rip! With a loud rip, her slim, long and fair finger ripped apart Mu Hong’s clothes, revealing several grotesque and deep scars. Although scabs had formed over them, it was still a shocking sight to behold.

“Mu Qianyue, what are you doing?!” Nalan Yu raged. What kind of a woman ripped a man’s attire in public? Even if that person was her grandfather, it made him feel uncomfortable!

“If you don’t wish for anything to happen to him, get out of my way!” Without even raising her head, Mu Qianyue snorted. She speedily retrieved a small cloth bag from the Heaven Connecting Tower. Because the Heaven Connecting Tower was right at the Tanzhong Point on her chest, everyone thought she was retrieving something from her clothing.

“You…” By now, Nalan Yu’s face was starkly green. How dare this darned woman speak so fiercely to him! Just as he was about to open his mouth, Nalan Zheng stopped him with the raise of one hand.

“Let her do it.” Nalan Zheng narrowed his eyes as he looked towards Mu Qianyue. All of a sudden he was very curious as to what a mere woman like her could do when even the imperial physicians were rendered helpless…

Everyone also looked on with their mouths hanging open, clearly stunned by Mu Qianyue’s behavior!

Though right now, Mu Qianyue wasn’t in the mood to consider others’ opinions of her. All of her attention was focused on applying the acupuncture needles.

With their breaths held, everyone’s expressions kept on changing—some looked doubtful, some curious, and some had mocking derision written all over their faces. A trash was versed in medical skills? You must be kidding!

But when everyone saw Mu Qianyue open the cloth bag and reveal those slim and long needles, they froze. What were those? Why had they never seen them before?

Mu Qianyue quickly took out an acupuncture needle and pierced it into the Guanyuan point on Mu Hong’s abdomen. With a gentle flick of her slim and long finger at the tip of the needle, the acupuncture needle produced a soft ringing sound. Following that she retrieved another acupuncture needle and pierced it into the Baihui point on the top of Mu Hong’s head. Repeating that flicking action, the tip of the needle produced a gentle vibration again.

Nalan Yu stared at Mu Qianyue with a deep and complicated gaze. Her serious countenance as she focused all her attention on doing this one thing, was the most breathtakingly beautiful sight he had ever seen. It was a beauty that couldn’t be described by mere words, yet at the same time, it was deeply engraved into the depths of his heart and refusing to dissipate!

Mu Yurou gripped her fingers together tightly underneath her sleeves as a trace of hatred flickered across her eyes.

Everyone’s gazes at Mu Qianyue slowly started changing as well. Even those who were initially derisive toned down on that condescension.

Only after applying nine needles consecutively, did Mu Qianyue finally stop.

Shortly after, Mu Hong was seen regaining consciousness slowly. However, his face was pale, his breath still weak. “What… what happened…”

The shock in everyone’s eyes intensified. They were stunned to see that a few ordinary-looking needles managed to cure Mu Hong of his condition!

“Grandfather, it’s just your old injury acting up. Just go back and recuperate for some time and you’ll be fine,” Mu Qianyue said. She had wanted to keep a low profile, but she couldn’t possibly stand by and do nothing seeing her grandfather’s life on the line. Of course, later when they got back she would have to refine some medicines for his injuries, or else he wouldn’t recover from this condition.

“Yue’er, you were the one who saved me?” Mu Hong gazed at her in shock. He never knew Yue’er was well-versed in medical skills!

“Mu Qianyue, you are well-versed in medical skills?” Nalan Zheng asked with narrowed eyes.

“I’ve read about it in a book before. Just now I was merely trying my luck and wasn’t expecting that it would really work.” Having no choice, Mu Qianyue pretended she simply got lucky. She looked up at the imperial physician next to her and revealed a shy smile. “Sorry, I have no idea how to write prescriptions. I’ll have to trouble you to prescribe some herbs for my grandfather’s injuries later.”

The reason she claimed she didn’t know how to write a prescription was because she didn’t wish to attract too much attention to herself. Or else, it would be terrible if it aroused Nalan Zheng’s suspicions.

It seemed that she had to elevate her capabilities as quickly as possible, to enhance the Defender Marquis Manor’s capabilities!

Indeed, after those words left her mouth contempt returned to everyone’s faces. So she merely got lucky. Since she didn’t even know how to prescribe herbs, it went without saying that she wasn’t at all well-versed in medical skills!
